Well Mr Thorn, you sold me on this one. I’ve seen multiple reviews, most people don’t know how to dial in the post controls, always sounds too brash and noisy. But you dialed it in perfectly

Love this pedal! Played a gig with it over the weekend. Sounds and feels like a cranked tube amp, not a compressed overdrive pedal. Using a Rimrock Lil Mo (Klon style) as a clean boost after, and it works great. So glad they came out with the Compact.

The controls of this pedal makes me think it would be a good one to place after my other drive pedals.to be able to get the most use out of it's functions . I would like to hear it with other pedals both in front and behind. That's always a concern when mixing drives on a board. Where to fit them in and how best to use them. Great review again.

Great review. I think the most awesome feature about this pedal, and what makes it stand apart from other "amp in a box" pedals , is that you can tweak it to sound great with any amplifier. I have the 2 channel version and it sounds killer with any amplifier I use it with.

The 9:50 mark reminded me of the scene in Pick of Destiny when they were daydreaming of rocking out at the battle of the bands when Jack blew that guy's head off with his screams. The opening when KG had like six arms.😅 I just bought one of these, was looking to get another Ethos (and ordered one) but needed something before two months from now, so I bought one used. I'm hoping it works out the way it seems like it does in videos and sound clips. I do wish it had a few of the controls the larger one has. To be honest I don't get needing two channels for the tube/SS rectifier, seems like something you should be able to do with something maybe ½+ the size of this, though it would be better if you don't want to fiddle to swap between two sound.

Pete, it seems to me that over the last 18 months or so, you tend to dial in a lot more of the higher frequencies in your guitar sound than you used to do. Personally, I like that, but I wonder why this is. Is it just simply a matter of (changed) taste, or could this be the result of a bit of a hearing loss problem? Or am I just dead wrong? I'm not trolling. I really believe you used darker, or warmer sounds a while ago, no matter what pedal or amp you're demonstrating. Am I saying something stupid here, or do others feel the same about this? 😳
