    @@SefniAsheforr awesome!! Did you enjoy yourself?? That setlist was an absolute dream for a long time fan, for sure! They also KILLED IT. (Same to be said for Delain had Anneke though! Everyone was on fire that night) 😍 I had made it because I was gifted VIP, (after seeing Sabaton only the weekend before I didn't have the cash to do both.) when the call came asking me to take a ticket for that show and help Kel (Kel n Rich) interview Charolette and Joey of Delain. Unfortunately not much time to meet the others for more than a photo, and admittedly I had my first ever fangirl experience meeting Anneke (I don't typically fangirl). But due to our misunderstanding on time, we barely made it for the photos and luckily we were amoung the last in line so we lucked out with getting to have a bit of conversation with everyone afterwards but ngl Amorphis seemed a tad standoffish (which I know is quite a trait of Finnish people so I didn't take it to heart) but it made me nervous which was also odd for me. They were still very sweet though. and I got way too nervous to say anything much to them at all, especially because I had just hugged Anneke LOL. Please I'd love to hear your recount on your show?!

  • @Giftick1

    @Giftick1

    3 жыл бұрын

    yes, but Joutsen joined them much later... First two albums Koivusaari sang for them, then with Eclipse came a new singer, a rather mediocre one (imho). But with Joutsen they got their perfect vocalist. He put the band on a whole different level. Before he was there they didn't play many of the early songs in concerts, now they are doing that again and these old gems sound magnificient with Joutsen. I also liked Koivusaari with his grunting vocals.. but with Joutsen Amorphis almost sounds like a different band

    To me the song is about being judged for your actions when you die. That's what's meant by weighing your crown. Kind of like how Anubis weighs hearts in Egyptian mythology. We all die, and it's at that moment that we are judged. And this king is judged by the weight of his crown.

    I can tell you Amorphis is fantastic live. I saw Amorphis last week 3 nights in a row. 30 years of Amorphis anniversary gigs. They played material from one particular decade each night. "Death of a King" was the 2nd last song the 1st night. "Bad Blood" stood out to me, great clean vocals by Tomi Joutsen on that one. (Joutsen is the Finnish for a swan.)

    About this album, with Pekka Kainulainen's (lyricist) words, the lyrical theme is universal: "Cultures rise, flourish, and are destroyed. The story of man is the story of searching, finding, and forgetting. A single spark can set the world afire, a single idea can give birth to a new culture. The greatest can stagnate into insignificance, the smallest can hold the power for change. The lyrics on this album are distant echoes of ancient forest peoples, from a time when meaning was proportioned by the cosmic forces that govern birth and death. If the connection was lost, they sought for a strand of knowledge, found a new direction, and a new age began."

    Weight your crown could be a straigt translation from Finnish, as we could say like: there your strenght [or anything] is weighted ("siellä vahvuutesi punnitaan" -but if you cannot say it that way in English, it might be: "that measures if you are strong"? Or,: "that really tests your strength/if you are strong or not"? I don't know how you really say it in English.. And as for crown to be weighed.. only the hard times test if you are a true king.. (but in Finnish -if it was said like that in Finnish, it would sound.. well.. a bit stupid, like reading a newspaper. The weighting of crown is the same - but said more poetically, symbolically)
