Amoril 14th Scale Buggy Review

I got this buggy at a really great deal and I have looked it over and taken it for it’s first run and here are my thoughts on it… I was shocked at how good this was for an entry level budget buggy. Being 12th scale, it is a little small and kind of squirrely on my track it took a few really hard hits and just kept on going. I did have one of the turn buckles pop off the ball stud but that happens on a lot with hard front-end hits. Over all a great looking and seemingly tough buggy to get started with or to add another to your collection!

    Small tires on a dry loose track do not make for fast, easy laps!! Lots of sliding around. If I had not raked it and had sprayed it down it would have had a better time I am sure. It was still fun and I killed the battery out there sweating so it was fun enough to keep me out there!!

    Yeah those little tires don't have the best grip one the dry, sandy dirt out there. The biggest problem is it is so unsettled on the bumpy parts it was hard to keep it going in a straight line. My track is not groomed smooth enough for a little guy like this, it pitches the bigger ones around too sometimes. It would be best suited for a big dirt ball filed or something to run on or a clay or carpet track. It was still fun.

    Thankfully mine had just popped off the ball stud and went right back on. They do have their own website now rlaarlo.com and they do have the full set of links listed there. I am sure if you have a local hobby shop they can get you the individual parts (from other cars) that would work but it may be cheaper overall to order the replacements from rlaarlo direct. But I am sure you LHS may have some Traxxas and other brand parts you can assemble your own. I don't have any part #s to go off of unfortunately for that route.

    I enjoyed your review. I think you did an excellent job of covering all the good points and bad points. It's a great looking buggy and has a lot of very good standard equipment. I had a few of questions. Do they offer any other tires with different tread designs? Are the wheel hexes a unique design so that wheels from other companies might not fit? Do you think the bumper they included might've helped to prevent the problem you had the upper arm from popping off? I am a very old guy and put whatever bumpers I can get on my r/c cars. The more bumpers the better for me. Thanks for another excellent review.

  • @AddamsPlayground

    @AddamsPlayground

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback. I can try and find out about the tires, I am not sure if they offer other designs for the tires. They are smaller than normal but I am sure other similar sizes would work. The hexs are a 12mm size from what I saw. I can double check that to make sure. The bumper would have prevented the front end hit from popping that link off. It is still possible to catch a front tire on a curb from a really sharp angle but will do a good job front head on angled hit .

    New company and new car. It is a shrunk down version of a 4wd track type basher. Has the look of a tiny little nitro buggy almost but is electric. It is kind of in its own class almost as it is not the normal 1/10 scale but is not tiny like that 1/18 or 1/24 cars. Thanks for reviewing some budget friendly stuff. It would be nice if you could do maybe one close up pan on the chassis during the description portion. Don't give Amoril too much credit for making the body a near copy of the Arrma Typhon buggy. This is a great buggy however, appears to be the same model as the Wltoys 144001. VERY heavy for the size, which means not quite enough traction no matter the tread pattern, but handles well and the suspension is pretty well set up out of the box. Motor gets HOT under normal use.
