Ammo weight vs power (tested with darts)

Everyone should see the difference of a ammo's power by this test. The light dart does not get the same penetration as the heavier dart. Even though the heavier dart is moving significantly slower, it takes more mass to stop the dart due to it's increased weight. This can be demonstrated by this analogy: which is easier to stop by standing in front of and only using your arm strength? A ten speed pedal bike at 10mph or a motorcycle at 5mph. Of course the ten speed is way lighter and easier to stop due to its weight. A projectile from a slingshot is the same thing. It will take more to stop a heavier ammo. Effective distance may be reduced though as it has more drop.

Thank you and thank you for great products. I try to be fair but even slower speeds for power more weight usually wins. I thought this way a fun way to demonstrate that.

That "groove for hooking on your band" has the same name as the back end of an arrow that hugs the bowstring, it's called a "nock"

I have not heard it called a knock before. I shot a message to Min from Snipersling out of curiosity. Min from Snipersling said it is called a "notch or a barb". I have heard it called a pouch groove as well.

@@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat I have a background in archery, that's why I suggested that word. A "nock" is a term in archery for a notch (in either a bow or an arrow) for holding the string. The act of setting an arrow on the string, preparing it to be drawn back is called nocking. The writers of the archery and slingshot codexes must not have been in the office together that day... Lol There is no harm in calling it a groove. Though, I'll continue to call it a nock, since the term applies and it's 2nd nature for me to do so with arrow-like projectiles.

@@SLINGSHOTFEVERpullshootrepeat thats cool. I'm shooting slingbow as well ... ton of fun... and no need to unstring your bow everytime. Basically taking 60% of my prep time out of the equation, leaving me more time to shoot. And with a few extra bands pre-set, the downtime for snapped bands is minimal. The bands are too strong for most of my family to complete a full-draw and stabilize the forks. But that's bc in archery you don't want to grasp your bow tightly at all, but slingbow you need to stay in control the fork/frame (As I'm sure you know). I don't think the sljngbow has a significantly different draw-weight than a beginner's bow (20lbs or so), it's just a different beast that requires different muscles and tactics. If you can't tell, my interest in slingshots was reinvigorated recently and I have become kind of obsessed with all aspects of sling-dom, even got a Shepherd's Sling... kinda worried to use it though. (Imagines glass breaking *cringes* - I need a BIG field) LOL Looking forward to what you'll do next..
