@@gunztommiegunz I think it's well documented that hollow point and soft point projectiles of quality construction are more effective than FMJ. The Geneva convention banned the use of all but ball ammo for that reason. I'm not saying not to buy fmj. FMJ is usually cheaper . What I do now is load hp or sp because although it may cost a little more everything I load will be more effective than FMJ. To me the added cost is worth it due to the scarcity of primers primarily.

I hit my goal back in the 80's and maintain it. I don't own any 9mm or 5.56. I shoot 40, 45, 7.62/308, 50 BMG. I maintain 100,000 each through reloading and bulk buys on sale, although those sales are a thing of the past now. I stocked up on surplus and surplus components back in the 80's, 90's and the early 2000's befor the shit hit us full blast. Back when I started, you could buy 32 lb cases of surplus rifle and pistol powder for a buck a pound. Primers and bullets were dirt cheap by the 10,000 case. Brass was scrap price by the 55 gallon barrel. Surplus ammo was a nickle a round by the 20,000 rd pallet

We have 0 (zero) 9mm hollow point ammo, just several thousand fmj...we never bought into the hollow point hype (we do have a little hp revolver ammo), and prefer the slight extra reliability of fmj...in same thinking we figure the odds of surviving multiple upon multiple fire fights pretty much zero, so it goes...I can understand your viewpoint (honestly, we'd be happy blowing up 4k more rounds!), we're doing us...this is what happens when you get senior and set in ways...

I enjoyed the video. Unfortunately I wouldn't know the first thing about reloading, never did it. And like the other guy below me I have to buy my ammo and being retired on a tight budget admittedly I usually get the cheapest fmj I can find. That much ammo is a pipe dream for me lol but months of getting sometimes as much as 300 rounds, sometimes as little as a box of 50 I have 1200 rounds saved up. I did manage to find 2 budget friendly jhp's, ammo inc and sinter fire at only $9 a box of 20 and they work well. No way I will pay the price for hornady critical defense or duty for a box of 25 when I can take the same amount of money and get 100 rounds of fmj. The most interesting round I have found recently is winchester m1152. It is a round developed for the army's new sig 9mm sidearm, a flat tip 115 gr fmj with a muzzle velocity of 1320 fps. 100 round box for $42. It really makes my taurus g3 move lol

I have 200 Self Defense rounds made up, and 500 hunting rounds made up. I also have 500 empty case ready to be made up as I go for practice and plinking. I wait till I am ready to play before I make them up, and only enough to get though a play session. This way just in case I want to change up bullets or try a new powder I have the empty brass ready to get after it. I am also in the process of searching through 12 reloading manuals in order to find recipes that I might would like to try out. So I do not want to over buy one type of powder or bullets. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Plus, I am wanting to create a Wild-Cat Cartridge and want empty cases ready for the process of development. So, as long as I have enough loaded ammo to cover what may come up at a given time, I like having empty cases laying around at my disposal. So I only buy enough powder of a particular type to see what I think of the recipes at hand. And once I find say a favorite recipe I will then buy up a lot of the ingrediencies to last a long time. But I still will wait to load them all up as I prefer spacing my reloading sessions out, a little here and a little there. All that said I also buy all the primers I can get my paws on, as I did with the cases, so that I'll have them stockpiled and ready to go for years to come.
