Journalists, students, writers, social workers, priests, printers, farmers and god knows how many others have been thrown in jail for no reason. An 84 yr old man suffering from Parkinson's died in prison begging for a straw. Our foreign policy is barely held together, national identity has been reduced to a joke, social fabric has been destroyed and all the economic gains made during the boom years of the 00s are slowly being lost. I agree India is not its politicians, and definitely not this current crop of criminals. The country will wash itself of this crap eventually, but the damage done in the last 8-9 yrs has been immense. I hope we can build this country back into something the people who died fighting for independence can be proud of.
