Dr Shashi Tharroor Honest was questionable, it appeared he was trying to protect Nehru family and their wrong doings. Shahshi Tharoor may have protected Nehru family but he has lost voters today. Atleast I will never vote for a liar who conceals facts. Rajdeep Sardesai is a clown and he comes out clearly a slave of Nehru family which is more and more evident. If Modi has got so much support today it is only because of liar media which hunting Modi and due to total distrust in congress party. Nehru and his family has been authoritarian and followed cancel culture from the very beginning even before independence. If he was not appointed by British he would have never become Prime Minister. Now we know where Rahul Gandhi gets this brains from. Vikram Sampath in my view was fabulous he came out with his facts in an articulate manner despite the other two intimating him. Very impressive.

As an NRI, and an American whose ancestors come from SW India (Malabar), I feel so good watching these thinkers/philosophers/historians openly discuss their differences, and express their opinions publicly. India is an open society despite all the bad things attributed to a great land. So those who consider these as debates with winners and losers, don't forget there are ideological nations surrounding India where such discussions are held in contempt and participants shot or maimed over their thoughts. Keep it up. It takes me a while to get to these YT videos, but they are so educating.

@@draxZz__ no, it only reflects that Indians are able to communicate in an international language. If you hadn't the opportunity to learn English, how would you communicate with me here ? If I hadn't the opportunity to learn English how would I deal with scores of people from all over the world on a daily basis which is part of my job ? I couldn't dream of such a job if I knew no English. I consider my language skill as that of power, that of independence, that of education ...everything positive. If you think English is not freeing you from bandage, I guess we need to talk about mental health. Not colonialism.

@@bluej6127 Either you aren't from India or you have no idea about the reality of India. It is a privilege to know English in this country to the extent that people equates intellect with English (which also reflects the hangover). Forget jobs and interacting with Western world, majority of people in India can't even afford basic primary education, also the reason why Govt of India had to come up with Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan and free mid day meal for students. To make it mandatory for an advocate to communicate and articulate his arguments in English which he wasn't comfortable in shows the colonial mindset of our system which isn't the case in European countries. Bdw the rule that states it is mandatory to communicate in English was setup by the English themselves to narrow down the flow of Indian barristers in British India. Stop assuming that every Indian has the same resources and access as you have. What does mental health has to do with this debate? I have nothing against speaking in English, obviously it is a global language and everyone should learn it if they can afford. I gave you one example of the colonial lens that we are subjected to look through.

What an eloquent speaker, Dr.Sampath! You can see in his dialogues that he truly has no political motivations and honestly wants Indians to acknowledge their history, move on and build a better future. Dr.Tharoor, you have finally met your match :) let's not forget that the reason why history is getting politicised today is because as Dr.Sampath says, we haven't had closure. Even German students learn in detail about the atrocities of Hitler and the holocaust, it only helps them to come at peace with their past and not hold it against anyone. And if you support denying the truth to Indians, you are only risking the future of this country further, from more grave polarisation or communalism. And if the history of my country has to rely on such shaky bandaids, then you're also underestimating the constitutional secularism. INDIA has always been a pluralistic country, we have always accepted people of other faith and differences. So trust your country with its true history!

All of humanity can learn much from this to better improve one’s own perspective and enhance one’s own consciousness as to how important our perceptions are not only to ourselves, but also to all. There is great wisdom in Bharata that holds many treasures as to what is this ’me’ I perceive my ‘self’ to be, and to what am I to identify with. Vikram Sampath is very right when he says "For the kids in school the story of her country is shown as a third person as of it belongs to some other nation" I always thought about it whenever I reflected back on the history I studied in school (NCERT) It clearly created my thought process that "British were good for India & Mughals were even better" simply based on the information in the textbooks glorifying British (indirectly) and Mughals Directly as well as most of the teachers doing the same. Later on in life I found out about the reality and about the barrage of misinformation it was I was shocked & felt sad for the younger ones still studying the same misinformation in Schools. So proud of Vikram Sampath for shedding some light of truth about our "Pyara Bharat" & giving a befitting reply to the "Brown Angrez" monopoly in the country and creating a bright hope for future generations.

Mr. Tharoor seems to believe ignoring history will heal wounds of the past, but he fails to understand that it is this ignorance that is keeping those wounds fresh and not letting it heal. Most practices in religions are no cause for concern, but some really must be changed. The only issue is, that some religions are not open to these reforms and they are complacent in their ways. There are certain misogynistic verses in a few holy books that should be done away with, but under the fear of committing blasphemy, these verses haven't been removed yet. So unless the society makes a conscious effort to reform themselves, some sexist issues will remain. :D Hope this helps.

Shashi Tharoor forgets that the very foundation of Indian independence started without a UCC, which resulted in Nehru aiding religious fundamenlist . No media house in India has held Nehru accountable for this. Ambedkar himself felt that he was taken for a ride by Nehru. WAKF Boards, Socialising Hindu religion, while Muslims and Christians were given different religious rights. Calling RSS, BJP as right wing and conservative is political incorrectedness. Vikram Sampath is a GEM, so is Shashi Tharoor. We need meaningful debates like this.

How many Indians know about nalanda? Takshashila? Vijaynagar or chola empires? The kshatriya lineage? Yoga, its meaning? Its origins? The Vedas? Very few. Why? Because information is not readily available. As it becomes available, its destruction is part of its history. And what we are seeing today is a part of healing. I wholly agree with Dr Sampath. How do we heal from a wound we don’t even know about? Without knowledge, the wounds just exist in perpetuity without explanation and, frankly, that is more plaguing than knowing.

Shashi Tharoor is justifying our history textbooks where we haven't been taught to hate muslims; where we could have easily been taken a convenient muslim bashing route, anti-muslim bigotry (anti-hindu in Pakistan's case). A route to disaster what this current compensation is taking. A route where end result is destruction, all this just to satisfy the false bravado & egos of self- acclaimed 'nationalists'.
