manifestgtr some context for that. The pirates hit reds batters on purpose a lot last year. And the bad blood started when the year before they hit Suarez (arguably on purpose) breaking his wrist. After David bell filed a complaint with the commissioner nothing was done. So he, I kid you not, in an interview said his players now have the green light to defend themselves however they see fit.

One of the few breakdowns without lips available to read that is still obvious what is being said. Garrett absolutely did call the pitching coach out, told him he was going to fight the entire bench, the coach got someone warming up, took the ball, and told him to go get 'em, you can tell by the body language and gestures he made, and it's a incredible sequence of events to see in professional sports.

Tbh The reds would never make a trade with the pirates (speaking for this season specifically but maybe in general too) after all they’ve gone through with them. And I don’t blame them. Not one pirate is a decent player or person. And if they aren’t either of those things the reds aren’t going to trade for them. They will never be part of this team.

Someone only does that when he can't fight on his lonesome. David Bell was a mediocre player and he ended up clinging to the bottom of the pile for his dear life like Jeff Van Gundy. Garrett cannot fight, no hands, put me in his spot and I'm knocking at least 3 Pirates out cold and then getting into the dugout grabbing their water cooler and continuing my rampage, you would need to tranquilize me because an alpha male doesn't go down easily.

Chris Archer is probably an even worse fighter than Garrett. I know if Chris Archer ever beaned me when I played HS baseball, I'd charge the mound and start breaking all kindsa sh-- in that skinny dude's rib cage and I'd be OK with being suspended for the rest of the season.

I was cracking up when I watched the pitching coach take the ball motion for another player then let him go fight 😂😂

We were there in the first row. We heard Reds staff in the dugout talking about the trade during the fight saying their “it’s our asses if he gets hurt” and one said “well you can go get him if you want to”

By the looks of things, this was Amir Garrett's first fight ever. He had a clear lane and couldn't land a clean punch. I appreciate that he came with that energy, but he made himself look really bad. Put me in his cleats and those two Pirates he swung on would be waking up with a team trainer holding an ice pack to their eyes and I played HS baseball and we never had a fight, but I always wanted somebody to bean me so I had a reason to charge the mound and kick some ass.

Puig didn't do sh--. That meathead does NOT know how to fight. He never throws hands because he'd miss badly and embarrass himself. Altuve, Betts, Fletcher from the Angels, basically all of the smaller, lighter guys in baseball would knock his out while taking no damage. I'm ashamed to have been a former baseball player and see so many fans who think that guys like Puig and Trout can fight for the dumbest reasons. Those guys are trademark b--ches.

My favourite bit is still how Bell (who's already been ejected remember) sprints the length of the field to get to Hurdle, then stops dead and just gently pushes him.

One of my favorite things about jomboy breakdowns of insane/historic moments are the B and C plots he always features alongside that youd never notice. Like Chris Archers no good very bad day or the baseball cap seeking baseball from that wild winter league brawl.
