Wow, what a cheap and awesome way to add HDD to A500. Thank you for sharing this, I will be buying this for my A500's.
Most CF-Cards do not support Master/Slave (any jumper on the Adapter only works with the right, industrial grade CF). A way around this problem: Use two IDE-> Sata adapters with master/slave jumper instead. Theease also buffer the bus, so much more freedom were to place the drive (and a sata-cable is much more easy to handle than a 40 pin ribbon cable). As hard-drive I reccoment a msata in a sata2msata adapter, as this is very smal. You might place it under the disk drive. The secondary IDE2Sata Adapter can be used with an eSATA-Cable, so you can plug in an external SATA-Device to your Amiga. This can be f.e. a normal SATA CD/DVD-Drive (or, if you want audio from CD: An IDE-CD-drive with SATA2IDE-Adapter. With a slimline IDE-drive, you need an extra adapter to convert the 50 pin plug to 40pin+analog audio. ). Also there are SATA2CF-Adapters, if you want fast data transfer from another Amiga by using CF-Cards swapping. Not every SATA2IDE Adapter works with slimeline IDE-Drives, as they are flashed to be slave in firmware in most cases. Tried 3 different adapters, only "CSL - IDE zu SATA SATA zu IDE Adapter Konverter" worked. But it didn't worked the other way arround on my buddha (while the cheapest ones fom Aliexpress did). Also having an secondary converter with nothing connected to eSATA only delays boottime a bit, so no problem if you connect nothing externaly. Actually I made my experiments with a Buddha in my A2k, so I do not know if it works on the IDE68k. But I think its worth a try. In my A2k I do not realy need it (as my Buddha has 3 IDE connectors), so it was just a test4fun. In an A500(+) or CDTV (or even an A600/A1200 to get an eSATA-Port) it seems much more usefull to try IDE2SATA (and even back to IDE with slimline CD/DVD-Drives). I think the possibilitys of SATA in an Amiga are much underestimated. Cable length (after converter the bus is buffered), the posibility to use old slimeline drives (with conversion back to IDE) and also get rid of the master/slave disfunctionality of most CF-Cards are 3 very good reasons to experiment with SATA instead.

That's so awesome. I'd have loved one of those boards back in the 90's. I've got something similar in my ZX Spectrum 128+2B, (the black case +2A with dual ROM's). There's a PCB under ROM0, and I had to burn 2 new ROMs for it. But I now have an internal CF Card attached. The +2 is in my music room hooked up to my drum machine and Yamaha keyboard using the internal MIDI interface using my own custom software.

Ziemlich cool. Ich kann mich noch erinnern, wie ich damals mit meinem Vater die 2mb ram Erweiterung eingebaut habe. Nostalgiefaktor 500^^
Hi, those antistatic bags are conductive. If you leave it in there you will eventually be shorting out components. Speaking from experience! It would be a good idea to remove it. thanks for the video!
It looks like the power connector on the cf card reader is a standard floppy power connector. You should be able to use a splitter and grab power from the built in floppy power connector.
Nice. I've been considering adding an internal ide to an A500. With an 8mb GottaGoFast ram expansion also under the cpu it should be enough for whdload.
that internal gotek is super-verrückt!
Love this! I'm new to all this and hopes to find all that I will need to get started. I also have a lite request for a future video project, since you are so good at this. I would love to see a simular easy way to build something for The Commodore PET 3032.

Nice video, the ide68k is a fantastic little board. I know the one I have will provide power over the key pin on the ide cable. If you can find a CF card adapter that supports key power it should work without needing extra cables.

Hi. Were are these for sale? I need one without Ram for testing if PiStorm on the 500 can use a physical IDE port and a real harddrive. If works, it will become way more easy to swap files.

I only had a second floppy on my Amiga. Switched to PC when I sold my A500.
Nice video and great job. I use my GVP HD+ as a HDD by substituting the damaged HDD with a ZULU SCSI2SD. You have done a lot of mods and improvements to your A500, wich power supply do you use?, because all those mods require 5V juice.

Wonder if this would work on Kickstart 1.3 (with autoboot) combined with Action Replay MK III? Doubt it......:)

Will this IDE device work in an A2000 that has an accelerator card plugged in?

I did not test that. It could be that the main processor is switched of and so this does not work.
do you have a fix for an A3000 ide adapter? Or Maybe a SCSI to IDE or SCSI to CF or SCSI to SATA

;-) My pleasure! They are available here ... but only with 8MB memory and for € 66,- plus shipping: amigastore.eu/929-ide68k-gottago-fastram-8mb.html
the ide 40 pins does not provide power supply , the 44 ( small ) does , hence it needs the esternal 5V and no it'll never work without simply cos the hd wont have curent to turn itself on. you failed to mention in order for it to work it will need at least roms 2.0 or above ( or it will never see the ide interface) . The interface could be cool but......................the ide activity led ?
