Carpet places sell "rems", remnants left behind when they cut carpet. Or from when they install it because they always sell you more than you need, and then do you the favor of taking it back to their store and selling it again so that you don't have to deal with cleaning it up/getting rid of it. Anyway, they sell parts/pieces of carpet, cheap, that are sometimes large enough for a small room.

But at least my mom has the dignity to not rope her children into a disgusting cheap lifestyle just to save a couple bucks. It's fine to be cheap, but Not if it affects someones life in that way. @@jazzfeline5970 i'm so sorry to hear this. it is a serious issue and its so concerning to see it happening to this family. my family struggles with hoarding as well, certainly to a lesser degree but my grandparents and my father experience poverty until they moved to the us and they hoard a lot as well - filling rooms and basements with things just in case. my dad was a child when he came and he still struggles with this and so do i. it has improved with each generation but i find myself holding on to so so much because that's just how my family was. it is so hard to break this thinking. i hope your grandmother and your family are doing well 🧡

I got an almost brand new sectional for 70$ from a high end thrift store that also sold new and used furniture. It was totally clean smelled brand new had no tears or stains. You can save money without being stupid. Just be thrifty and don’t make unnecessary purchases. Meaning DO buy necessities, just take care of your stuff and it’ll last?
