My mom used to make Yorkshire pudding when I was young. My grandfather was from England. I would live to try it this way.

That looks great. I thought I was 75% Italian so all my life I cooked Italian. Had my DNA done and I’m only 12% Italian and 56% English. I need to cook stuff like this now.

Lol why would you cook only / mostly Italian food because you believed your heritage was Italian anyway? I don’t know any Brits who cook just British food, we cook everything from Italian, Mexican, Indian, Greek, but to name a few. It’s always good to broaden your horizons & taste buds. I couldn’t imagine only eating one style of food.. eee!

Your culture isn't the same as your race. If your family identifies as Italian, then don't break your heritage now.

@Jason Mistretta Years ago the British ate to stay alive and not for pleasure. :) Hence where the stereotype of British eating terrible food came from. That's not the case anymore though. (With some of us anyway) There's more Michelin star restaurants in London than there is in Paris. Along with large amount ethnic minorities living here we've adopted other cuisines and we tend to cook food from all over the world now.

I'm a yorkshire lass and you don't thicken gravy with flour when you're cooking yorkshire puds! You thicken the gravy with leftover yorkshire pudding mix!!! And you also cook the gravy in the meat tray that you've roasted the meat in. That's how you get the browning of the gravy. Anyway, i suppose they do it for the catering kitchen this way but everyone knows that the best sunday roast is your mother's. ;)

I cook the meat on the oven shelf without a tray. The tray goes underneath to catch the drippings and the roast potaties get cooked in that tray below the meat then gravy is made in the tray

@@mdinunzio7610 pudding is old French for sausage, which was brought over to Britain during the norman conquest. Later, it evolved to mean anything cooked in a pudding style - that is, in a bag made of either intestine like sausages, or cloth. Thus included savory dishes like Yorkshire pudding, and sweet dishes that included fruit, nuts, honey, etc. This last usage later evolved in the US to refer to dessert in general, then to custards specifically. In the UK they'd just be called custard.
