Just an FYI, the Vitroleros were originally glass. Now it is more common all over the place and they are made of different materials (glass, plastic). Birria is a stew and usually is eaten in a bowl like a soup. Due to convenience or for a change and for leftovers, the tacos and then the birria quesadillas came out from it.

Jicama in the Philippines is called "singkamas" which is basically a turnip as well. I'm not sure what the difference is but I feel like the "singkamas" is way juicier (as they say about Asian fruits and veggies) than jicama. We enjoy it with sweet and savory stir fried shrimp paste or simply with sea salt if you want a boost of sweetness.

Singkamas where imported originally from mexico here is the source “Jicama, scientifically known as Pachyrhizus erosus, is a native plant of Mexico and Central America. The plant was traditionally cultivated and consumed by indigenous peoples long before European contact. Known for its edible, tuberous root, jicama was prized for its crisp texture and mildly sweet flavor. Spanish Colonization and the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade The story of how jicama found its way to the Philippines is closely tied to the Spanish colonial period and the establishment of the Manila-Acapulco Galleon Trade. From 1565 to 1815, this trade route facilitated the exchange of goods, culture, and ideas between the Spanish colonies in Asia and the Americas. During this period, Spanish galleons would carry a variety of goods, including spices, textiles, and agricultural products, from Manila to Acapulco and vice versa. It was through this trade network that many plants and crops were introduced to new regions. Jicama was among these plants brought from Mexico to the Philippines.”
