In the UK there is a 9pm watershed, so when kids are expected to be in bed you can pretty much show and say most things, prior to the watershed a modicum of censorship is deployed!

A proper scone is firm but VERY crumbly to the point it near on melts in your mouth. You have cream and jam on it. Traditionally, clotted cream. Which is a very thick rich cream.

I can’t say this for everyone, but I love the rain. It makes home living cozy and appreciated, especially when you have a log burner like I do. Hearing the rain hitting the trees outside for me is therapeutic. When the summer comes around and the forest and fields are lush and green from the rain quenched land you realise rain is life giving.

"Super cute town". Lol - it's an extremely famous city, known all over the world. New York was named after it.

Haha, I can understand the mix-up! While it might be mistaken for a cute town, I'm sure you're referring to Amsterdam. Its charm and history often make it seem like a picturesque village, even though it's indeed a world-renowned city. And yes, New York City's original name was New Amsterdam before it was renamed. Isn't history fascinating? 😄🏙

We have a thing here called the "Watershed". Basically the most severe profanity and the vast majority of nudity/sex/violence etc isn't allowed on tv or radio before 9pm. After that the rules of what can be broadcast are a lot less strict. Hope you liked York as that's my home city.

Marks and Spencer and Waitrose are the posh supermarkets. They're MUCH more expensive than places such as Tesco, ASDA and Sainsbury, which are where most people shop and are mid-range supermarkets. The cheapest of the big supermarkets are Aldi and Lidl. Another thing to remember is that all the major mid range and high end supermarkets come in 2 main types. There are the normal big supermarkets and there are the much smaller versions, which tend to be in amongst other shops. The smaller versions are nearly always more expensive. ASDA is an exception, with prices being the same in both the large and small versions.

That is actually a motte in English, not a moat, but it was a good guess, a moat is a defensive ditch or channel surrounding building and often filled with water. Also congratulations on finding naked attraction after flipping through all the channels looking for it.

That show is on at like 10pm. Its fine as its after the watershed which like 9pm-10pm something like that. The radio has the same rules with language

What can be broadcast? Depends on the time of day. You will not see the risque stuff before 9:00pm

"It feels like Harry Potter/Diagon Alley" - well it should, that was The Shambles, it's what inspired Diagon Alley.

Looks amazing! Looks like you had a great time. Scones are unique to here. Have them with clotted cream and jam. Bit if not totally fresh they can be a little dense or hard

10:15 My wife and I had a moment like that in Peterborough, Ontario when on holiday in Canada. I drove out of a car park, turned left and drove down the left side of the road, then saw another car driving straight towards us. For a moment I thought "What's that idiot doing driving on the wrong side of the road?" and then I realised I was the idiot and swerved over to the right side of the road. A bit scary.

Personally I have never taken too much notice of these officious advisories about what side of the road I should drive on. Sicilian friends assure me that I would fit in perfectly there! :-0

You can't really appreciate how lovely our cities, towns and villages are when weather is wet and cold. However, that is our typical British weather. It can change so amazingly quick too, sunny then wet and cold then back to sunny and warm.

Just when you're getting used to driving on the opposite side of the road and more confident, sods law a mistake will have happened. Especially whith no other cars around for reference. Glad no accident occurred.

Scones are best with clotted cream and jam...maybe next time! Love the video ❤️

12:15 As a Northerner who lives an hour's drive away from York, I say you've got the pronunciation of Bath absolutely right. York's a great city, one of my favourites. It's worth allocating a couple of days to do it justice and see the sights and attractions. You were a bit unlucky with the weather, but what you got is normal for the time of year.

When this video came up on my suggestions, I did not expect it to open with a view of my old Primary School. Famous for being on the route of the 2014 Tour de France. Nice video but missing so much my spending so little time in each place.

Such a hot Summer, what a shame you've hit the worse weather this year.

So glad yous went to Yorkshire. I might be a bit biased because I'm from West Yorkshire, but I honestly feel like Yorkshire is the most British experience you can have. It's Northern so it's cheaper and more normal, the accents are better than the rest of the UK, and cities like York hold so much history of the country. And even towns like Ilkley and Otley in Leeds are beautiful towns with stunning landscapes.

That’s Cotswold Airport at Kemble. It’s an active airfield/local airport but they recycle and store disused aircraft there. Apparently the runway is long enough for a 747 to land on but not take off from so there’s no escaping their fate, which is kind of sad. One of them has been turned into an events space you can hire.

Clifford's Tower is the remains of the Castle and a moat is a kinda ditch, sometimes full of water. Your narrow street is The Shambles leading into Whip-ma -wop-ma Street.

I'm sitting in a 17thcentury Pub on the Essex Coast an d a 17th century port wivenhoe near to the oldest town in UK Colchester the streets are nearly too narrow for a car. I'm here for Xmas mealwith old friends tomorrow. As I live and was born in London, it was a nice change..

Scones are best with jam and cream and best of all when still warm. The best scones are in Devon and Cornwall, which are famed for them. :)

P.S. The pronounciation is different depending on where in the country you are and what your social background is. Yes, really, lol. Some people say scone, rhyming with 'gone'. This is also more prevalent amongst working class people. The other pronounciation is scone as in 'cone'. This also tends to be the more prevalent pronounciation amongst the middle and upper classes. The regional variations in pronounciation are pretty set but the social differences in pronounciation are much more fluid and tend to be generalisations, with plenty of exceptions. :)

Our TV has what is known as the "9 o'clock watershed". Anything which has an explicit content cannot be shown until after 9 pm, when younger children should be in bed, and parents can decide whether it is appropriate for older teens to watch. Anyone can be listening to radio at any time, so swearing is either bleeped out, or a warning is broadcast at the start of the programme that it contains strong language. "Naked Attraction" is a bit extreme, even by British standards, but we're not generally as prudish as Americans; full frontal nudity was an occasional feature of British TV even as far back as the late 1960s.

Yes that's typical of British weather. We get our weather off the Atlantic .so that means 4 days of showers and then 4 days dry whilst it's making its mind up what to do next. .you just got to remember there is always worse somewhere else. Who would want red hot weather constantly ..we don't get earthquakes. We dont get hurricanes. We don't get any extreme weather at all. We get quite a decent

York minster is a stunning cathedral did you go inside ? The shambles is a medieval street , come back soon and visit canterbury its full of history too and has lots to see 😊.

York has several places worth checking out if its your kinda thing such as York Minster and The National Railway Museum(the latter which is free). The Shambles has a Harry Potter store in it called The Cauldron. In the Shambles is the aptly named Shambles Tavern, a nice quaint little pub. Theres also the York Roast Company that sells a "Yorkshire pudding wrap" Theres also an ice cream boat aswell when its nice down by the river. The well known chippy there in town is Drake's Fish & Chips

@@taystaunton you're welcome. The most important thing is just time. I went to York couple of years ago and managed to just squeeze all the things I mentioned into our trip in 1 day. It was a really hot day at the time so was hard to cope 😅. Can easily spread things over a couple of days and enjoy things more leisurely Even London itself has so much to see. Not far from London, is the incredible Kew Gardens, which you can legit spend all day walking round its so big and varied. Aswell as local exhibits such as the London Dungeons, where you learn about Jack the Ripper and stuff like that. Or maybe enjoy a memorable fine dining experience of an Afternoon Tea and champagne at the world famous Ritz Hotel. Prices start round £67 but requires booking and they have a dress code Hope you enjoy your next visit!

Glad you guys made it down to my neck of the wood. As any Bristolean will tell you, we have more Georgian houses than Bath! Not to mention fine feats of engineering by Brunel, including the suspension bridge. And nearby Wells is minature gem. Don't mess with the scrumpy though - its Somerset's moonshine!

If you are near that tower you are within the castle of York. You can walk around the walls

Thats Clifford's Castle, just the shell keep is left, the rest has gone in late medieval times. Oh and, Whip-ma-wop-ma- gate! (Gate is Viking for street) rather as Scandinavia/Norwegian Gaten. From York to the Cotswolds, thats good going to make that distance in a day! Sones, some pronounce it "skownes" as you do, some say "scons". Either way beautiful when fresh out of the oven, clotted cream and jam, either way "up" depending on whether you go for Cornish or Devon, spread on cream first, or jam first! Now you are in the Roman civitas of Aquae Sulis (Bath) where the natural hot springs come to the surface, bet the Romans thought they'd struck gold!

What time of year were you here? It’s been really dry here this year (though not this week). Looked like you picked the worst of our weather! I feel you’ve tried to do too many places in too short a time. You barely saw York. There’s loads to do there! Same with Bath. Why spend the day travelling and then arrive when everything is closed? If you come to England again, I suggest you Pre book your tickets to things like the Roman baths online as everything here is digital now and it will mean you get to do everything you want to do.

Marks and Spencer is an upmarket store. No national railway musuem, yorkshire museum, York minister, bar walls, Yorvik Musuem, River cruise oh dear. The back alley is hundred years old. York has more pubs per square mile than anywhere else in the north. You need cream on your scones. Usually served in the afternoon with tea.

The airport you went passed is the Cotswolds airport. There is a business that disassemble the planes. The airport is fully functional. With small planes coming in and out all the time. During covid there were loads of jumbo jets parked there. As the airport was being used for holding place. For companies such as British Airways etc. Costing less for landing fees.

A tip for all visitors. The UK has a range of mountains running up the middle. The prevailing weather is from the west or southwest so west of the mountains is much wetter than to the east. Compare the data for Manchester and Sheffield to see what I mean.

The secret to being a pedestrian (somebody who walks) in England is to carry an umbrella.

Can't believe you went to York and didn't go in the Minster or along the walls

Glad you had a good time in my home city of Bath, and there is nothing wrong with your pronunciation of 'Bath'. A lot of people in this part of England say it the same as you.

York is extremely significant historically. It served as the capital of the north of Roman Britain, and then later Northern England (first of Northumbria (Anglian), then Viking, then Norman). It is the second spiritual capital of England (after Canterbury), and also is the county capital of Yorkshire, the largest county in England

The Holy Roman Emperor Constantine the Great was crowned the same in York. As for the cities of Christemdom, Jerusalem is the first, Rome the secons and Santiago de Compostela ( "St James of the Field of Stars" ) the third.

We have a water shed time for content. So, as far as I'm aware, 9pm is classed as the watershed so the more adult content is allowed after that time. I presume it's the same for music if anyone can confirm.

Naked Attraction is on AFTER the 9 o'clock " watershed" so is not for family viewing. Whereas the radio is available to ALL ears, including children . That's why the swearwords are bleeped out. " JELLY" !? Do you mean JAM? Jelly is a dessert !

In the UK and even more so in parts of mainland Europe people are not particularly bothered about nudity. The Brits in particular find nudity funny. However many still object to what they call bad language. So you will get far more objections to someone saying fuck or cunt than a programme like naked attraction. British humour is very distinct. I had a Chilean friend who had lived in the UK but she never got used to British humour.

Well I have to say you have seen an airfield in the UK that I haven't where many aircraft get stored & scrapped, I have been to Victorville CA, Mojave , Marana, Kingman AZ, Goodyear AZ & The Big Military graveyard in Arizona next to Davis Monthan AFB The AMARG.

Nudity is after 9pm on TV, so most children will be in bed. However radio is harder to invigilate

You are supposed to have scones with tea and they are supposed to have clotted cream in them and fresh strawberry jam. It doesnt really make much sense to just have jam its like eating toast without any butter. You can do it but you are sort of missing out on the experience.

In UK there is a time 9/10 pm after which programmes with nudity ,bad/coarse languages etc is allowed, parents are expected to censor /monitor what their children watch later in the evening .

The Village you drove through was called Bretforton in Worcestershire. and is not in the Cotswolds. The Only Cotswold village in Worcestershire is Broadway which you were so close to and would have Loved!

American biscuit is a breakfast item akin to a scone. Nothing like British biscuits.

It's not "99% certain" at all. JKR has never actually said where she took inspiration for it, but I'd imagine that's because it's just a representation of lots of little intimate streets of a similar nature. There are lots in London, and quite a few in smaller towns in the South, and Scotland too. I'd say it was more likely it was from seeing those than seeing the Shambles since JKR grew up in the South of Engalnd and later moved to Scotland. It's only after the fact that people now see the Shambles and see the most resemblance, but that type of street isn't unique to York, although, admittedly, it's one of the best examples.

Bath is an OK city, but from a UK citizens perspective I wouldn't say that special. For some reason American tourists are always directed to it. Perhaps reviews by those Americans make it a self-perpetuating habit.

When I first saw naked attraction (probably about the time you filmed this video), even I was amazed to see something like that on British television; I for sure wouldn't of thought something like that would of been able to be shown, but I guess that 'those in charge' thought that it was OK so long as it was after the 9pm watershed!.

Bleeping words on radio is because it is played throughout the day at any time on any station, where children can hear. Shows with swearing or nudity etc. are after watershed time of 9pm. That means young children would be in bed and parents can decide on what they can watch.

A biscuit is hard not soft like a scone. It seems like your trying to tell us you they’re biscuits. I’d really like to know what your biscuits are like because you have a weird take on a biscuit.

Older cars here have to pass a test every year, and if repairs get too expensive, get scrapped instead.

After seeing the title and then watching the video I'm wondering whether you saw anything! You went to York, once the Northern capital of Britain under the Vikings. You called it a town, It's a city! Then drove through the Cotswolds. One of the most prettiest areas of England and you just drove through it! Then you get to Bath, have a walk in the town centre, and that's it! What about the Royal Crescent? I believe all you saw was a stretch of road and the inside of a car! As for food all you seem to be eating is stuff you could eat back in America! You're on holiday! try trying some of the local cuisine! Very disappointing!
