Thank you guys for reacting to my suggestion! First of all, that is not karate. The martial art that you watched just now is called Silat, a traditional martial art that is indigenous to Malaysia and Indonesia! The type of Silat used in this video is called Silat Gayong which is exclusive to Malaysia! 🇲🇾

Silat doesn' rely on fancy movements. Thus being said, the main principal of silat is to attack the vital points of the opponents, which in other words is to kill. The deadly moves in silat usually will be taught personally by the guru when you have reached the highest level.

Ianya bersifat mematikan. Kadang2 dalam beberapa jurus atau gerak sahaja. Hanya yang belajar boleh memahaminya. Ia bersifat batin/tenaga dalam juga.

This is Silat Gayong. Silat have many different types from many countries in the malay archipelago. Malaysia itself have many different types of silat so there's too many for me to list it here. As you can see, they use weapons and cloth (not rope). Silat can also kill since it also use weapons (they can also kill with their bare hands🖐🏻)

Definitely not 'rope'. Its just a piece of cloth twirled around (some knots the end for extra weight) till it looks like rope or a whip. When its like that, we call it 'cindai' (the piece of cloth and the martial art of it). Sounds like a tall tale of silat mysticism when we say a piece of cloth can break boulders, but a whiplash of a cindai expert can shatter bricks.

If you notice something about silat (Malay Martial art), unlike other martial arts, it not only teaches us the proper way to attack and dodge attacks but how to lock the opponent's limbs when they try to attack us. most of the martial arts from foreign countries, they are only taught to attack and dodge attacks only.

'Kersani' for your information, is a mythical metal in Malay martial art lore, kind of like mithril in the west. Its rumoured to be an alloy with unparalled toughness, with keris and blades made from it able to cut boulders and shields, staying ever sharp. Some say it has a yellowish sheen, maybe confused with another mythical alloy called 'besi kuning' - literally yellow iron (no its not gold. Malay blacksmith and jewellers are well known since ancient times for their delicate 'kerawang/ awan larat' amazingly intricate gold craftsmanship found in antique weapons and jewelleries, so yeah they know their gold) Some even say that kersani and besi kuning is the same. Theres record of heirloom weapons made with them but no one can verify or detail out the process to make them. Is it even an alloy or a pure metal? What is certain is that, distinct from the western idea of a perfect mythical metal - a super tough, hard and light material for blades that will never dull and armor that will never crack or rust, the kersani and besi kuning in Malay lore is more revered for its spiritual aspect. Sure they share the same sought after 'perfect metal' qualities mentioned before, but the besi kuning and kersani are believed to have extra protective qualities, so much so the metals are also worn as 'tangkal' (amulet). Besi kuning especially is believed to confer one with mastery over wild beasts, be it as a repellant tangkal to tigers, wolves and the likes during ones journey through the dense forest in south east Asia, or weapons made to effectively tame tigers and elephants. Aside from being hard, tough and ever sharp, kersani imbues weapon with extra 'bisa' (lack of a better word, a destructive factor, pain multiplier, spiritual in nature akin to poison physically. Bisa is literally venom in the Malay language). This is what Malays talks about when they say their revered traditional weapon, the iconic wavy bladed dagger known as keris, some of them 'berbisa' (have bisa). The western literature contains a lot of misunderstanding of this concept and simply jot it down as 'the keris is poisoned'. Over the time this led to the idea that Malay warriors habitually poison their keris (they do not. Malay martial artists see it as a contemptible, cowardly act for the unskilled and criminals). However, some keris owner practice of using arsenic instead of just lime acid in maintaining the keris may also contribute to this misunderstanding (the arsenic is used to bring out the beautiful damasc pattern of the keris blade), especially the Indonesian way of 'mewarang' (warang is the special bath used in maintaining the keris, mewarang is the ritual of bathing and drying the blade by incense smoking)

The thing that old man hold is kris which in malay call keris, it malay old traditional thing/ some said that kris have a guardian or djinn protect it, every malay region/state have their own different kris type, kris before is use as identity like nowsday we use identity card, from the kris we already know where the user are from or he is villager or nobility, kris usually have poison with it. In the old times, not like the other sword to kill enemy, kris dont need to stab heart or cut head to kill enemy but only small stab/cut can kill the enemy with the poison, kris user usually find major nerve for the instand poison spreading. That from my knowledge. Maybe some people have different opinion about this.

Keris with poison? Racun is poison. Keris 'berbisa' is not the same with 'beracun'. Bisa is a more spiritual aspect, a mythical quality of a keris, like a pain multiplier, a deadly touch. No Malay warrior will use poison on their weapons. True pendekar and pesilat look down on those who do. Only criminals and the unskilled use such thing.

Just for your information, Silat is Malaysian self-defense technique that has been used since time immemorial. Just like kung fu for Chinese, but Silat has its own color and Silat is divided into different types with different patterns. Malaysians, especially women are encouraged to have martial arts knowledge to defend themselves. But mostly, man are the one who learn Silat these day.

If it's westerner watch this type of martial arts, they called it KARATE or KUNG FU. SILAT is so underated, but yet give the opportunities to us because if it remain guarded as secret martial arts, outsider will underestimate SILAT and it's deadliness.

This is not karate. Its a martial art call silat. The most deadliest martial art. KERSANI is a type of metal usually use in making a weapon call KERIS. There is many type of silat in Malaysia. Silat Gayung, Silat Cekak and many more. Its a bit similar like a silat in Indonesia because we are from the same ancestors.
