The customer is always right comes from the saying "the customer is always right in terms of taste" It comes from clothing stores where the sales assistants would always agree with customers that the garments suited them. Even though they looked terrible.

  • @thenightcreeper

The saying "The customer is always right" has a completely different meaning when you think about who invented the phrase, it is big multinational corporations way of saying the employee's opinion is less important than the customers HARD CASH, so the customer is always right because he is always the one in possession of the money the corporation wants, they can just replace their work droid with another one that understands profit is more important than the employees, it is nothing more than a buzz phrase.

100%. Obviously the customer being satisfied has always been of significant importance, since money is obviously why we work, but it takes on a different tilt in something like a modern corporation where power is concentrated and abstracted away from the workers. But people also forget that you're not the business. You're a service provider. You are providing a service to your employer. Your employer has the cash. They are your customer. Do you have the luxury of disagreeing, or is your customer always right?

In England when we say "The customer is always right" we don't mean literally, we just mean you have act as if they are and get on with it as thats your job as a shopkeeper. Atleast thats how my Nan described it working in a gift shop for 10 years

The steak was undercooked on the inside and yet burnt on the outside because the heat in the pan was too high, the best way to cook without burning it is to pre heat the pan until it's really hot and then turn the heat down as soon as soon as you put the steak in the pan. So let the heat that's in there do the work!

In my opinion the customers are the real food critics. They would complain if the food they want isn’t up to their satisfaction after it is handed to them on a plate. They then decide to go up to Chef Ramsey to complain about the food (“The meat isn’t cooked properly”, “There isn’t enough flavouring”, “I was expecting this to taste really delicious. Instead it tastes bland!”) Of course, Gordon Ramsey really knows how to deal with these customers who wish to make a complaint, by telling them to f*** off back to their tables!

A doctorate in music, no less…. Which millions of people have around the world…. Whilst quoting a below average university. Tell me sir, does a doctorate in music make you a good musician? Does Robert Smith or David Bowie, or John Lennon have a degree in music which tells the world how good they are at something? No, they don’t. Because if you’re good at something then you don’t need to tell people, it’s instantly recognisable. In the same way Jean-Philippe Susilovic is one of the greatest Maitre D’hotel in the world. He’s ran dining rooms in London, NYC, & Dubai; and managed over 50 Michelin recognised dining rooms. He doesn’t need a piece of paper written by someone…. Simply better than the recipient to let him know how good he is, mainly because there is nobody on the planet who is more qualified.

American people look totally shocked when they get told to eff off, its as common as asking someone if they want a cup of tea here, even get a warning before posting the comment so have to change it.

Waited 2 hours 45 minutes? I'd have left after 20 minutes of waiting. I'd have broke that cheap man's David Brents finger.
