He needed to go to the staff quarters without being noticed, since guests aren’t supposed to mingle with any of the cruise’s staff. That’s why they stole the uniform of the captain from the laundry.

Men in uniform are considered hot. That's why he wore the captain outfit. What's so hard to understand here?

Its not the Captain's uniform but the Chief Officer. He needs one more stripe on the epaulette.

Logically, I think he wore the captain uniform to disguise as the staff so that he can go to her room and move around in the staff quarters freely. Cuz Staff members are not allowed to have personal relationships with the guests on the ship.

Absolutely recommending "Piku" for the wife to join the boys gang as it's a beautiful family film. You will get to know one of the most effortless actor in the world, Irfan Khan as well as the legend of Amitabh Bachchan. Go for it.
