The way she says macaron annoys me. No, it cannot be pronounced both macaron and macaroon. Macarons and macaroons are different desserts, people!

As an English speaker I agree with all the complaints about the pronunciation. I pronounce every borrowed word correctly. For example; I don't say 'crepes' like most Americans, I say 'crap' as is correct. I make crap every morning, I prefer eating it warm. It's difficult to achieve the perfect thickness but with the right spatula you can achieve perfect spread. I like to fill my crap with thin sliced ham and roll it up in my hands, then I dust it with cinnamon and local honey. My crap is so tender you can cut it with a fork. The possibilities are endless! You can even use leftovers, it's quite amusing to see what you ate the night before in your morning crap!

PrettyH8Mach1n3 Because most of these flavours are not "American". These flavours exist in France alreadly, she just obviously hasn't gone to the right places to buy her "macaroons".

OsiAnonymous I'm sure they exist in some form, but they probably aren't popular. Most places I went to on trips there do not have these flavors. Most places don't have these flavors for macarons in the US because they try to emulate the Parisian style and they want to pick safe, universally loved flavors. It isn't wrong to say that different countries have different favorite flavors, and here flavors like cotton candy and are probably way more popular because we don't have the same dislike of artificial flavors and processed foods. I don't expect to find s'mores or pb and j flavors in Europe as much as I would expect to here, for example. Hence, those flavors are much more "American". I expect to find more matcha flavored things in Korea and Japan. I know we have that flavor in other countries but it was popularized through east Asian venues first.
