The most interesting thing is that they started learning to play music from scratch at 15 y.o. At the beginning there really was no basic knowledge about music at all. And music lessons were initially taught by their mentor for the basics, then they developed their own music lessons from KZread.

Bawo ni HIM and thanks for more VOB! They very much started as a "jam" band, with most of their early songs being 5-6 minutes long, epic journeys, not just "songs." With no formal music training originally, and limited internet, they didn't know the "rules" and just played what they liked! I think this really old-school approach is what really endears them to many older rockers. They are playing in the UK this week, including Glastonbury Fest (first Indonesian band to appear there)! It's VERY interesting that as an activist metal/rock band in a predominantly Muslim country they are now getting significant recognition from their Government! (including having the term "soft diplomacy" being applied to them)
