when we wont the world championship for the third time, I remember reading that they fenced off the fountain. because they were worried that the mass of humans is going to damage it because the last time didnt do very good for it either. sure there is the tradition of putting the hat on the statue on the fountain but its like one person doing it so its not as bad as 10 or more standing on it. its hollow bronze, its not designed to be stand on.

Two sides of Finns. When Finland wins the Icehockey World Championship you are allowed to hug strangers, be everybody's friend. I have attended the celebration once, there were 70 000 people in the market square area in Helsinki. When Finland wins we say "Torilla tavataan", "Meet you at the square!" Nowadays if Finland is mentioned abroad even remotely positively, does not matter what it is about, it's "TORILLA TAVATAAN!" (But you just say that, you don't go.) I did not take part in swimming in the Havis Amanda fountain. I think they, The City of Helsinki, decided not to allow that anymore. They fear for the statue. The fountain is also important during the vappu, 1st of May, celebration. Havis Amanda gets the white sudent cap placed on her head by the student organizations' representatives. Now they have to use a crane to do that, no climing anymore. Thanks for the funny reaction.

@@WildwoodVagabond personally I was in deep depression, but smiled that evening and have a photo of me cloaked in a Finnish flag, it just felt so right having it wrapped around me. I've been to US and you have your flag everywhere always, while here it is only flagged on special days, still I think Finns are a lot more patriotic than your average US citizen.. No, offense, for me as Finn it seems kind of disrespectful towards the flag to have it out everyday like some ordinary cloath..

Hello, and greetings from your former neighbor-country Norway. It's always fun, interesting and educational to see our part of the world, from an outside view. Having saying that, everyone should have been sent abroad for some time. Then they might find out that the difference between us and them not always is as big as we think. But to your reaction videos, I'm kinda Nightwish fan, should have gone to see them live in Amsterdam the 24th this month, but some virus got in the way. You must try out their newest album, "How's the heart" is one of my favorites. Or their tribute to Augene Shoemaker. But we also have some talented singers in Norway, try out Aurora. Or the young talent Angelina Jordan - her AGT performances perhaps. It's all on you tube :D Have a great day.

Well we finns have been told not to talk too much, and usually to be feel too annoyed in those daily social greetings with other people. So social distancing is our way usually. But hell, can we do some partying, when there is some purpose to it. HELL YEAH! And btw if you are intrested for some music suggestions, try these Bands. Tarot. That is actually Marco Hietalas own Metal band from the 80´s. And the other one is Battle Beast. Well if you love Tarjas and Floors voices, Noora will hit you to that other universe. I was a teenager when Finland won the first time hockey world championship at 1995. I lived small city of Kokkola west coast of Finland and about 400km north from Turku. At that time there were about 35000-37000 population in Kokkola, but i can say that whole city was so crowded by the celebrating people that it was redicilous. I had to park my bicycle, lock it and walk becouse it was impossible to go with bike any where (not with cars either) and to walk around. 2011 we had gold for second time and same thing again. 2019 i lived in Tampere and as you propably know this one of the biggest cities in Finland so the celebration was same kind as you saw in that video. Tampere is also big ice hockey city in general. Tappara and Ilves are both local teams hockey is more of religion here than christianity. Actually 2020 was crazier in Tampere becouse Tappara won the finnich championchip, Finland won the world championchip and even first time ever Olympic championship so here were three times big hockey parties at same year 😂.

Random facts about finland: In Finland there was some group of ppl blocking the road what was dangerous and police tried to get them off the road but they refused. Police used pepper spray on them and we are thinking they shouldn't have used those because it hurts the eyes. We use as little as can of violence here even cops gets in trouble for using a pepper spray on a person without a weapon. (They did get of their road after they got pepper sprayed) There is 3.3 million saunas in finland. Schools are open no matter what the weather is even if its over -20°C outside. We go to school and stay to long break hours inside. Bullying is taken very seriously in finland. Bullying is sometime taken so seriously that cops might be called. In Finland school system. You don't get always any homework at all. We dont have final exams in normal school u have to do. We have exams what effects just small precent of our final grade and what are easy to make. Example. My Math exam was one paper of quiestions 1 to 6 what had a and b. Over 5% Finnish students have to learn Swedish. You don't get useless homework of many sheets you just get few quiestions and what u can learn easily. In Finnish schools you can wear anything you want aslong its appropriate. Example you can wear ripped Jean's, t-shirts, shirts what show shoulders as long it doesn't show under your armpits. Schools uses detention as last result(if not included getting expelled or transferred) In Finland students respects their teachers and the teachers respects their students. Finland loves their pets than anything. If you are walking your pet you are most likely gonna get few stares just remmeber the stares are most likely going at your pet bc they are cute or cool looking. Finnish people love their coffee. Never. *clap* Disrespect. *clap* Their. *clap* Coffee. Finnish peoples sleep schedules are almost always messed up bc of the forever nights and days. If you come in Finland at winter be ready to freeze (mostly after Christmas days).

You have been in the wrong places, when I was young they were telling the police that "let me finish first" in the bushes. Like when alcohol is involved its pretty common for us to get closer. My probably worst thing I did was while my friends were in line to get some night food from Hesburger I help a dame in distress to clean her pipes against thrash contrianer. So back when I was young you saw the act of reproduction a bit here and there during certain events. On vappu we pack like sardins in a park, on midsummer we are naked everywhere... Today's generations have a bit adapted the censorship of other places.

Well, I can't know if this hits your sense of humour, but there's a seriously Finnish game made with a not-so-serious attitude. The point of the game is to repair a used car, Datsun 100A from scratch. I've understood the programmer can speak proper English, too, but has chosen to use this sc. "Rally English" -accent. The video is about the game, which had some degree of commercial success, "äs diskraibed bai tö developper himself". He hits the road at around 25 min. I presume in some states one would need a trigger warning for explicit language (mostly between 27-28:30 minutes). The link: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pGR9vMGNdd3NZ7A.html

I just wondered how many people uninated to that Havis Amanda fountain when they were in there and others were swimming in it. I bet someone drank it. Or maybe booze they drank dilluted urin so it's not that bad and even the hardcore Yogis even drink their own urin.
