    Same with Denmark everyone wanted Nicklas Sonne to win. But I guess the "Jury" they judged the 3 last finalists didn't think Metal would win Eurovision. So they sent Reiley instead.. He couldn't even go further from the semis.

  • @alterego5824

    @alterego5824

    This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think Gladiator would have struggled to even qualify for the Grand final. In the grand final it would have reached a bottom five position (same as Serbia). Blanka was a better choice overall. Also keep in mind that Spain last year (Chanel with Slo-mo) was chosen by the juries, the public was really against her at the beginning. But it turned out to be one of the biggest contenders of 2022, and all of a sudden people started to love her.

    The juries are included so that the countries don't only vote for the neighboring countries, but also get a more professional approach where the music is judged, not the participating country. It's funny that the juries also vote for neighboring countries regularly. Well, Käärijä made himself a Eurovision legend like Verka. Or Epic Sax Guy. This year there was an epic flute man from Moldova.

    I dont think anyone responded to this yet? You asked what 0.003 meant in 'Who the hell is Edgar?'. It's the amount (in USD) someone makes when your song is streamed on Spotify. That's depressingly low. The line afterwards 'atleast it pays to be funny' could be a meta dig at this as well.

    Ok - given what happened the last time there was no jury, getting rid of the jury is not an option. You see those songs you really didn't like? Yea, those would be winning (This year obvs Finland would have, but that's beside the point) - the jury was introduced for a reason. Having said that, jury reform - yes! They need more transparency, accountability and diversity in their juries - they all seem to be very pop and mainstream focused, which leaves original and independent songs out on a limb. So there need to be representatives from the rock world, techno world, indie world etc, bring them onto the juries and stop having such mainstream-focused juries. Another thing could be giving them less of a say - e.g. 60% public vote and 40% jury - would make cases like this much more exciting as we get to the final dishing out of public votes.

    I personally believe that everything has a purpose. If Käärijä had won, the issues in question would not have been given the same attention as now, because the song that won the hearts of the people did not win the Eurovision itself. There is a place for each of us here, and Käärijä has a clear order to give the listeners more than aural ecstasy. He is full of warmth and caring, which is clearly reflected in his interviews. Lorenes come and go, but there are few who can make a deeper impact and Käärijä is just like that
