Thats cause her mom is german, and she lived in Germany for 12 years, and after moving to the States, still came to visit her grand parents and relatives here...same with Leonardo DiCaprio and Bruce Willis, they also have german, moms and are fluent, and have lived in Germany until they were teenagers

Are you kidding? You don't know who Christopher Lee is? One of the most amazing men of the 20th century. He comes from Italian nobility, he can trace his family back to Charlemagne, he's fluent in at least 5 languages, was a spy during WWII, was somehow related to Ian Fleming (and might be the inspiration for James Bond), knew Tolkien (read LOTR every year), met one of the guys who killed Rasputin, as a child, was in the crowd during the last public execution in France as a teenager... And a great actor! He was fluent in German, he just didn't feel like being asked any questions. He was also fluent in French, Italian, Russian and probably one or two more. A living treasure, he was. RIP.

He still visited his grandparents (later only his grandmother) until his grandmother died. He also spoke German with all their neighbors. As far as I remember the rule he had to live by when visiting was „when you’re in Germany, you speak German“ and when they went to the USA, they spoke English.

Bud Spencer and Terence Hill are great stars for Germans that grew up in the 70s / 80s. They are italian actors who first did a lot of italo westerns and later comedy movies that played in US locations and became cult movies especially in germany. But they are little known in the US I think.

They are mainly popular for their German dub actors, as they freely improvised most of the jokes, so that these are only present in the German versions for the most part. The improvisation is what makes the jokes seem so random in German.

And not only Dracula also more Hammer Films. And some Dr. Fu Man Chu films. And in some Edgar Wallace fims ( english crime series made in Germany) he spoke german himself without being dupped. (So big understatement in that clip, like the humble ironic British Gentlemen he was) This made him so special as Dracula like hypnotic god and not like in splasher films.

You don't know who Bud Spencer is? He's a legend. That hurts me a lot. You should watch a movie with him.

Unfortunately, the Spencer / Hill movies are funny in the German dubbing only and most of them are edited differently to the Italian original. It is doubtful whether there are any English versions at all.

Jorge Bergoglio is Pope Francis's real name. A Pope takes a regnal name when he takes office, and he chose Franciscus (in Latin) which is always given as "Francis" in English.

I played often with Donna Summer in 1973 before playing in the studio with her on her first hit love to love you baby which sold 20 million records worldwide and was number two in the United States for two weeks. Donna was a great friend and a very simple person. She came over to Europe to sing in the musical hair in Vienna. That’s where she began learning German, and then she settled down in Munich with her German boyfriend.

Leo used to know enough German to speak with older Germans, who didn’t speak one word English. He visited his grandparents pretty much every summer from the early 1980s until they died (years after Titanic, I can’t remember the year his grandmother died).

Bud Spencer, born as Carlo Pedersoli , was an italian actor, lawyer and olympic swimmer. He was very famous in germany. You should watch some of his movies. Often slapsticks and funny.

Yeah Sandra Bullock is fluent for sure. She was in the same class in school as my dad, in Nuremburg.

Sandra Bullocks and Leornado Di Caprios Moms are German, thats why they are fluent, they lived a big part of their childhood in Germany, and visited relatives in the summer here, their is even a clip at the Berlinade, where Leonardo tells his Oma ( Grandmother) in German to wait for him, and that he'll be right there.... Bruce Willis also speaks German, he was an Army Brat who was spending like 10 years of his life in Germany.

Christopher Lee. Dracula? Saruman in Lord of the Rings? Count Dooku in Star Wars? Voice of King Haggard in The last Unicorn for which he did the English and the German voice. Dr. Fu Man Chu? He has an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the moste credited actor in movies, more than 280. He lectured Peter Jackson on set of Lord of the Rings. Jackons told Lee which noises he should make when Saruman gets stabbed. He refused to scream and told Jackson that it is more of a smothered aaaa because the air gets pressed out of the lungs. Lee had some first hand experience from World War II.

John Kerry spent a lot of time over here in Austria as Secretary of State. You could always tell when he was at the Hotel Imperial. He got quite a bit of exposure to German.

Bud Spencer was the legend of the 80s, every kid of the 80s knows him. He's the main character of many slapstick comedy fighting movies, usually accompanied by his sidekick Terence Hill. The movies are all kinda same: he is attacked by a bunch of stupid gangsters and slaps them into oblivion. ;-)

What!? You don't know Christopher Lee? I'm sure, you would recognize him, if he had long white hair and a beard. ;-) BTW, he was a polyglot and spoke at least 5 languages fluently. His German is very good, much better than you judge from this short clip. Here he's saying that he only speaks a little bit German, but he was actually speaking on a native like level, even his accent is very close to native German speakers.

But they're might have done way more as that's basically what they did in the 80's and 90's. A few is done in Denmark like Never Let Me Down and bits of other videos as well like the start of Behind the Wheel. Seen them live 15 times since 1986. Erasure i saw 4 times as well. And its Vince Clarke... Ex DM member as well.. 😎

As a child, I always thought Bud Spencer was a famous American actor. Just because of the name Bud Spencer. And since there are so many films with him. It wasn't until I was older that I found out that he was Italian and Bud Spencer was just a stage name, as he largely started his film career with westerns.

About 20 years ago I visited a cinema here in Munich, and Sandra Bullock had a premiere here. I didn't know that and was there for a different film, but once there, I enjoyed her presence and the scenary on the red carpet. There was a bunch of German teenage girls, shouting "Sandra, Sandra!!!", and Ms. Bullock was really, really nice. She acted very naturally, took her time, engaged with and hugged her young female fans, spoke an excellent German and made a lots of selfies with them ... or short: She really did this great, really, really great. The scenario may be seen as "professional" for this class of an actress, but I feeled more than this: Somehow coming home ...

Arnold Schwarzenegger aka "Terminator" also speaks german! 😂

My man, you can't make a video that draws all the germans and say you don't know Bud Spencer lol. That man is a legend and loved here. So, Sandra Bullock speaks not only like a native, she speaks like a local from where she grew up. She has a slight dialect, the way she is rolling the R when she speaks german is so typical for the area. Novak Djokovic speaks very well, but with a clear accent (a clear sign his german is very good is when he said 'hab' instead of 'habe', cause that's the everyday speaking version). Jorge Bergolio (pope originally from Argentina) speaks okay, but like someone who learned it - all the popes make easter greetings in several languages. Everyone else (including Donna Summers) speaks like someone who learned it as a foreign language, on different degrees of proficiency, even Leo DiCaprio obviously learned it in the US and has a very pronounced accent.

Leonardo DiCaprios mother was born in Oer Erkenschwick, NRW. That's about a 20min drive from my hometown Waltrop😁🤩

If you're looking for something less controversial and still on a high level, funny German entertainers, I recommend the cartoons (all very short) from "Loriot"!

I know that you're looking at this from the perspective that it's "impressive" if someone speaks a foreign language, but that's not how non-Americans think about this. For non-English speakers and especially non-Americans it's almost like a little bit of pride when you see famous people (unexpectedly) able to speak your language.

German ist for people who speak english not very hard to learn. Both have the same roots - angelsächsisch.

In Europe almost everyone speaks two languages or is in fact bilingual if not multilingual. Even if people can't speak more than 2 languages they can usually read many languages.
