If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make weekly "comedy" videos every Sunday evening. As an American living in London I love noticing the funny differences between the cultures and one of my most popular video series is my British VS American one. I'm also known for making terrible puns so sorry in advance. Hope to see you around, and I'll see you next Sunday! :)

I like how Evan is like, 'well obviously I'm gonna think of trains if I see tracks!' But, that's not really the point of the ad. The I spy game was just a tool to get to the actual point. Shock. On first viewing the ad, especially as a kid, it seems entirely mundane, just a family going about their day outside. Then, suddenly, one of them isn't paying attention to where they're standing and... Bam, hit by a train. The entire point is that shock moment, which really jolts your system. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but it definitely worked for me. When I was a kid, going to a train platform, I'd always make sure I was a fair distance away from the edge. About 4-6 feet back. It's a good lesson.

Damn! I thought there had been a thing about him (the actor) wanting to quit the ads, but not being able to, but now I realise I was misremembering the ads where they try to do them without him and he keeps gatecrashing and bursting into song! For a few minutes I genuinely believed I'd read something about him trying to quit because of the amount of abuse he got from viewers about the ads being annoying! 😖 Apparently he rarely gets recognised without the moustache, though (outside Wales - he's Welsh and was already quite successful there before the ads), so hopefully he doesn't get too much abuse

The train and fireworks safety ads/PSAs from the 70s and 80s were horrifying too - saw the fireworks ones far too young (5-6ish - they'd be on TV a lot in the lead up to Guy Fawkes' Night) and was mentally scarred for life - still don't go to displays or buy my own! I guess it's proof it worked? I have never been injured or physically scarred by a train or firework. Would have liked to have gotten more sleep as a kid though!

the whole train thing is because of trains in england having very inconspicuous locations, my house bordered a train line and the tracks were obviously visible to me because i grew up around them and it was a farily grassy, foresty area so, there was always a few people every few years that wouldn't really have a clue about them and either get injured or die.

The railways in Britain have lots of foot crossings all over the country. People out for a nice walk would just go through the gates, in a world of their own often looking down at their phone or something, and not stop to check before crossing. So many people got hit and killed. It’s still a problem.
