    The name "Santa Claus" comes from the Dutch name "Sinterklaas," which is a shortened form of "Sint Nikolaas," or Saint Nicholas. Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century Greek bishop known for his generosity and gift-giving. The fat bearded man in a red suit ringing a bell is a modern image credited to Coca-Cola through it's Christmas advertising campaigns in the 1930s, which featured illustrations by artist Haddon Sundblom.

  • @leehallam9365
    @leehallam9365Ай бұрын

    Father Christmas is nothing to do with St Nicholas. Santa Claus is St Nick.The two have become confused, and Father Christmas does now do Santa things. But originally Father Christmas was the spirit of Christmas, he didn't give presents to children he was all about feasting and merrymaking. Think of Dickens Ghost of Christmas Past, that is essentially an image of Father Christmas. Jolly man with white beard in flowing robes with a hood, most ofter green, wearing a Holly wreath.

    A manger or trough is a rack for fodder, or a structure or feeder used to hold food for animals. The word comes from the Old French mangier (meaning "to eat"), from Latin mandere (meaning "to chew"). Modern livestock trough near Empire Ranch, Arizona.

    The original Jewish Religion:- God was called Ael (as in Israel) He had a family. His wife was called Asher. Her symbol was the tree of life and became represented by the Jewish candlestick. She later evolved into the Christian Mary. They had two sons. The oldest was responsible for the weather and so was depicted with a zagged red forked tail representing lightning. At first he was a good guy, but was kicked out of heaven after some bad weather led to starvation. The younger son was the go to person for curing the sick. Because most people recover from sickness he became the most revered family member. Many years ago I had a friend who claimed to be the son of god. He then stabbed his father and was locked up in a mental hospital.

    So basicaly Jesus Christ is both fully God and fully man , coequal with the father in magesty and with humanity in corporiality. Now the father son and holy spirit make up one God the son (Jesus) is the perfect image of the father etrrnaly begotten (or generated) of the father. The holy ghost can be thought of as the bond of love between the father amd the son, being priduced by both the father and the son out of adoration to eachother. There you go some basic Christian trinitarian theology.

    The original Greek Bible is Ghoulish Dracula stuff. It's original mystery cult ethos being deliberately obfuscated to spare delicate Roman sensibilities. He was certainly the pariah for a lot more than his words. If only people could read the original Greek Gethsemane chapter. There'd be no openly Christian people at all. Jesus was gnarly AF.

    The thing about Mary being a virgin is a myth that came about because of dodgy translations of the original text. She was actually just described as a young woman, not a virgin, but because the translation was never corrected in subsequent versions of the Bible (and because a virgin birth added weight to the idea of Jesus being a devine being), the virgin myth stuck.

    Two Marys? your confusion may come from Mary Magdalene depending on your religion. In the New Testament, Mary Magdalene is a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth. Currently, she is identified by the Roman Catholic Church with Mary of Bethany, while the Orthodox Church and the Protestant Churches distinguish Mary of Bethany and Mary of Magdala. Mary of Bethanie had landed in France after leaving Palestine in a town which was named the Saintes Maries de la Mer. And she was Mary Magdalene. The relics including her skull are also visible in France. Scientists found neither anachronism nor evidence that could disprove the legend. I seem to remember that the book Da Vinci Code exploits the history of this Christian legend.
