    A lot of kids born in th 80's probably had a nan quite similar if not so overt. The second world war made people tough, especially in London. Nan is soft at heart but she had to put a tough front on to lead the family in many ways.

    Catherine Tate was on a chat show and Tom Cruise was also a guest. She told how she came up with the main character and did it live. Tom Cruise was doubled up laughing.

    Its sad but the truth is this type of nan is a rare and dying breed, as a kid from the 60s living in east and north london there loads of these types of nans and mums, nan tate brings back so many fond memories of me growinng up in the 60s 70s & 80s ❤️❤️

    Brian yer big Muppet!....I know you must have a lot of content lined up to watch, but please, at some point watch Catherine Tates 'Derek ' character, you won't be disappointed, also, anything from 'Little Britain 'which will provide you with a large selection of characters to discover.     I watched " Nan Taylor"( The Catherine Tate show) live at Sheffield City Hall, England. Nan taylor walked around the crowd,it was so funny 🤣😅🤣😂 she also did her character Bernie the sex crazed Irish Nurse.the posh family is anothe great Performance.

    Nan Taylor is a clone of my mother in law, and with the same vipers tongue when she wants, she’s a darling, aged 92 she can say whatever she wants to in my opinion 😂😂😂

    I think,with any comic character being transferred from a sitcom or sketch show to the big screen,will be watered down and cleaned up and lose what really makes the character funny. Like Mrs Brown for isntance.

    You should watch Catherine Tate on 8 out of 10 cats. Its so funny. PLUS give Chris Ramsey a look. His live act is great, IT'S LIKE LIVING WITH THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL- AIR is fantastic . Every man can relate too IT. VERY VERY FUNNY.

    If I may make a suggestion look up the comedian Steve Hughes I think you might enjoy his stuff. You might want to try Steve Hughes - "Cynical" or "Talks about gays" as a starter... and if she's not too busy, bring the Queen along for the ride. 😁
