What an annoying couple. And I disagree with pretty much everything they said. London is not the UK. I live in the South West of England and we always say hello to people whether we know them or not.

Where I live (North east England) we absolutely talk to each other in shops and when we pass in the street etc. there’s a good sense of community in my experience. They are so many things this couple seem ignorant on.

There is no need for you to be so insulting to me just because I was born a raised in London. We love our tourists here wherever they come from. I’d like to know where you come from. I’ve been north, south east west and here in London (obviously). I can say with all honesty apart from the odd AH you get everywhere. People are friendly. Of course people will come to London, it’s the capital city. They see the capital first then move on. If you are from the U.K. shame on you for making me feel less than, David Smith. For your information most people are not unkind at all.

I'd take what this irritating couple say with a pinch of salt. Their experience of the UK is obviously limited and I don’t trust what they say about the US. I don’t think their videos are meant for grown-ups.

As regards houses can you please explain why they build timber frame houses in Oklahoma, Nebraska etc., where there are so many tornadoes which leaves towns and neighbours flattened to the ground. Then they re-build the same timber frame houses again to be destroyed by the next wave of tornadoes. It's just mind boggling.

A brick home would likely be destroyed too though, and it's cheaper to rebuild it out of wood.

House size isn't to do with temperature, its to do with availability of land. There just isn't the space in the UK for suburban sprawl. Also there is the age of housing, the average American house is 40 years old, here it's 80 years old. Before cars , distances and plot sizes needed to be smaller.

I hate the idea of tipping. Not too bad in restaurants but so cringey in hotels when someone tries to wrestle the suitcase out of your hand and shows you around the room, as if it doesn't only take two seconds to work it out. Just pay them the correct amount. Almost everyone in the north does speak to strangers and is friendly.

I would say ..., generally people from US come across as sunny and positive ...; the amazingly varied landscape of the many parts of the US and it's sheer size ...; it's heartening that generally people from the US are interested to learn about their historic roots and ancestry...; the back catalogue of films is wonderful ...; I think much more could be made of Native American heritage, many of us don't know so much about that

I actually hate open plan, US houses are made of very flimsy materials, it's about making a splash not quality. Open plan has actually taken over here, so you are right about the weather, Connor. I wouldn't even view a house made after 1960-because too open plan and light build quality.
