I love that song so much but I think it might not be his cup of tea. It might be too “depressing” for him and especially references to suicide in there which he hates every time Ren brings it up. He might like the switch up in styles though for sure! I can already tell when he’s gonna love or hate a track 🤣 Seven Sins is one of my absolute favourites at the moment.

@@Steven90108Runs Exactly!!!! This guy takes music in general way too serious imho. He misses the point completely with stuff like this from ren. The fact that Ren can do stuff like this, shows how multifaceted he is as an artist. This compared to his heavier/deeper stuff is like the Ying to his Yang. Its just fun, its not meant to be taken too seriously. BUT... If anyone is like this guy and you just don't get it, he's/you are never going to get it. This guy is always going to be coming out with boring, overly critical "fun police" reactions like this with tracks like this from Ren. Personally, I think this track is fire 🔥🔥🔥 and just funny asf 🤣 One thing about this reaction that really did make me laugh though was when he looks away from Rens "you look quite fit with my d*ck in your hand" bell shot... First, I have not seen a reaction where anyone realizes the music was originally created by Fisher. Ren did what no one (I believe) has done or would do - rap to an EDM song. The flows, the bars, the lyrics was basically a well deserved brag & showcased his ability, creativity & honesty how easy it was to flex his talent in this arena. Well, except for the King Dotta takedown- that was awesome. Almost every line has a meaning, but when I heard the bongo bong lines I immediately thought of when matthew mcconaughey was living in Austin, Tx. The police were called to his house for a noise disturbance and he was high & was playing the bongos in the nude. But that’s a pretty obscure reference so maybe not. His lyrics are like a cross between a scavenger hunt, Trivial Pursuit, & you have to have knowledge of literary devices. He’s obviously very well read & intelligent - you can tell by his lyrics alone.

EDM started in the late 80s (88) and went through the roof in the early 90s once the Techno, Trance and Jungle scenes had fully established themselves. Been going strong ever since.

I like you specifically picking the year '88. I get it, but I was there and that vibe you may be alluding to was more like the back end of '87. Kinda like how Covid was 2019 back end, but the catchup was the following year. EDM is a modern, catchall term that is basically broad spectrum finger painting meaningless. It has nothing to do with anything other than pseudo musical "journalists" tripping over themselves in a attempt to coin a new term for whatever underground creativity is afoot. Look how ill received IDM was. Pretentious labeling idiocy that flies in the face of the actual music at hand. No ill to you on my part, mate. I'm just trying to say "EDM" is class A generic fluff. Even if the term had any real depth of meaning, it would certainly be a few decades before the 80's if it came down to electronic music I could dance to. Again, no hate. Hope you have time to play and enjoy some great tunes during the rest of this weekend. 👍

@@Hoop_23 I feel you. The whole Happy Hardcore and Gabba thing ran away from me. Far too silly and bereft . I have a soft spot for about 6-8 months when Jungle was called Jungle Techno. Haha... I grew up on early US electro that morphed into the beginnings of Hip-Hop. I also latched onto the initial Chicago and Detroit House scenes, not so much the brief Hip-House diversion, but I have a few fond memories of the initial Garage movement. UK to the US and vice versa: It seems we both grew up during a very interesting and broiling, melting pot of musical discovery. 👍

Nice to hear an honest reaction rather than a sycophantic one. Personally I love this fun workout over a classic EDM track, but that's just me. Rap & Hip-hop were just not a part of my listening before Ren but since December 2022 I've enjoyed learning about it and seeing the subtleties within it that I'd previously missed. I'm an old dog but I DO like to learn new tricks. It was Ren's talent as a communicator that got me hooked and yes, this track isn't that sort of thing but just fun for the sake of it. I can't say that even with my favourite artists I like everything 100%. That's all part of the fun in a way. You can still appreciate something even if it's not your usual cup of tea. I just let it all hit that bit between the ears and see what it leaves me with when it stops. This one just made me smile. Other Ren songs just leave me with the 'Ren silence' afterwards. That feeling when there are no words but it hits you like a sledgehammer and you realise you've just listened to something very special indeed. Of all the music I listen to [and that's a lot] there are less than a dozen artists who can penetrate that deeply with what they do. Ren is one of those special artists but there's no law to say you have to like everything he does. Nice reaction sir.

I think the UK scene is much more mixed in influences. In the US it seems to be you have to stick to a certain genre or nothing. As for the mix between rap and dance music that came from dancehall/jungle/drum & bass/garage then into grime (140 bpm). The UK music scene evolved completely differently to the US. My introduction to rapping was MC's on mixtapes flowing over jungle and drum and bass. I only got into 'real' rap afterwards. Jamaican influence is everywhere, and you take everything far too seriously humour is also a huge part of music culture. Lighten up 😂

"I'm an agent undercover" (not major or nature) Ren plays like 12 instruments, but mostly guitar, piano, bass, and drums. (He also composes and creates beats.) Ren's "retakes" are songs he slaps all new lyrics to an existing track as a fun challenge. ©️ = no $ wo/permission, etc. So Ren took Fisher's 90s EDM classic "Losing It" and wrote a rap about 'beings' who lose it - mostly monsters, killers, etc., but also himself as a musician - "chopping" it up like he made it (a double I think to old hip-hop lingo), also "I chop the fuck up like a cosmetician." My favorite reference though is how uses "Macbeth" as a verb: as in he's about to kill it, the way Shakespeare's titular character did in the play. I enjoy the song for meaningless fun while exercising or commuting, but I was a fan of house/garage/EDM/(occasional) techno in the early 90s rave scene. Hearing Fisher's song have a new life is great. I felt similarly when Ren inserted a bit of Dead Prez's Hip Hop into the Big Push's medley "I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop." It’s nice when an old song revives. Always enjoy your perspective, even if it's not your preference! Have a good one!

house music is a 90s thing . And it flooded Europe and England by storm . While metal went back underground and R&B came more in the fore front . Thats why England got into this .

I don't know that I especially LIKE this track, but it's the versatility of flows he showed here that impresses me. It's like he's showing he can take any type of beat and flow.

In the UK, house music became mainstream late 80s/early 90s. Mid 90s for the hybrid of rap/house/EDM.

House music has been popular in the UK and most of Europe since the early 90s. In the UK it grew up alongside the rave scene and later the jungle/drum n bass scenes. And since the early 90s the rave scene and Jungle/drum n bass scene both have had MCs who would back then sort of rap over the track then later in the 90s this carried over to the garage scene then the grime scene with the rappers definitely becoming more rappers than MCs. So the UK has a long history of rhythmic and percussive rhymes over higher tempo tracks than more traditionally lower tempo American hip hop tracks.

The electrical scene started in europe so britain''s def been a part of that scene. Fun fact: Oldheads remember when Afrika Bambaataa described how groups from 1970's germany like Kraftwerk had a huge influence on DJ's around Bronx late 70's to early 80's. Dr. Dre mentions same thing (in that 1h special he made when he reached 1 billion $) while he was a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru! I guess mysterious ironworks works in mysterius ways?

Hey yo, I got to the part where you asking about house music in UK. Lemme drop some history on ya. I used to DJ back in the 90's and 2000's. When I started I lived in a city in Canada near a joint Canadian and UK military training base. The Brits would take leave in our city and there was this one nightclub that catered to them. They loved house and techno. It is where I got into it. I remember that me and my DJ boss went to Montana to train some club DJ's there in 1996 and I brought my techno CD's. Them folks never heard anything like it, they were all about rap. It was a weird cultural exchange, and to be honest, I don't think you Americans liked the faster beats for whatever reason. BTW, partying with the Brits was off the charts fun times. Americans missed out!
