I saw a snippet on Insta where he was working on a song with a voice that I THINK may have been Eden. So maybe it is closer than we think

Eden is so different to Chinchilla, but just as powerful a presence on a track. It'd be easy to disappear on a track when Ren is going loopy like he does, but like Chinchilla, Eden holds her own.

Love the flow on this song. Nuts.

As far as I know, the "down at the bottom of the ocean" part is a sample that has been used in other songs too, but Ren has tweaked it a bit. It's part of a Logic pack which is the software Ren often uses. Autograf used it to on Dream. People always think it is Ren because he's great at manipulating his voice.

Great answer @MissMeKate ! A few other people are citing tracks that have used the samples as potentially being the originals, but they are not. The sample has been tweaked for the particular song it appears on. First couple of listens I thought it was Ren - he is such a vocal chameleon. So it comes from Logic software ? Cool

Thank you for clarifying! I kinda assumed Autograf - Dream was the original, as that song is older than Ren's Ocean so it's nice to know where it actually originates from.

Yeah, someone hunted the sample pack down a while back, and it has popped up on a few tracks as such samples tend to. (Like the one in Sick Boi that has been used before.) I love that he tweaks it a bit to really make it fit his vision for the songs though. Would totally believe it was him though because we know how he compresses and twists his voice so sound totally different!

@@MissMeKate When i first heard Ocean, i was really unsure if it was a sample or just Ren tweaking his voice a bit. I don't think it would take much effort for Ren to recreate that part with his own voice to make it sound very close. As for Sick Boi, someone said where it's from and i looked it up, i obviously forgot to save the video and now i've forgotten the name and context 😆 It sounds beautiful, though.

This is such a GREAT song. You are going to love it.

Thanks, I'm sure the sample is Ren. Apparently Eden Nash is fairly tall, about 9 feet and around 800 lbs, often seen carrying an elderly horse around Sussex, she believes in fairies and has only injured 30 people.

People not knowing the difference between the word Sample and taking lyrics and adding your own twist to them is annoying! Yes... he used lyrics from another song, sang it, ran it thru some compression/filters... That's Not a sample!

I love Ocean but Humble is special to me, so that makes it easy to pick one over the other. Both are amazing, though, and i absolutely love Eden's voice. My top 3 Ren is the triple H! Humble, Heretic and Hold On. It's really hard to pick favorites with Ren, though. He's got so much amazing music that i could probably put half his catalogue on a shared no. 1 spot lol

What's up, man. Pretty late to this post but found it regardless. I've got to hand it to you, your boy Black Pegasus and a few of your reactor fam. As a 50 year old, weird 3rd shift working, broke, PTSD surviving (well working through) guy that's found some company, some comfort and enjoyment in good people that have good taste in music. I've discovered some amazing music and some really cool people watching. With my hours I spend what feels like most of my time alone. Watching discussions about really great artists like Ren. When it fits the budget I'll join some of you guys channels but for now I have the subscriber button mashed! Mostly after a bunch of videos of yours and BP, along with a few others like Charismatic Voice for example, I want to thank you guys for keeping me company when most folks are asleep! Lol I do have, I suppose not being a member it's not a request, but you and BP should check out Twenty One Pilots pretty much anything they do is amazing. Also my boy the White Buffalo (Jake Smith) - The Whistler live at Guitar Center. Again, you guys are awesome folk and I very much enjoy the company and good music!

I love the way this song did justice to Slave Spiritual, both in performance and as a metaphor for his struggle with chronic illness-- both in being drowned by it, and the idea of finding his power in a new, alien environment--which also plays true to the Spiritul/gospel narrative.

Such a great song. Only thing for me is that I feel like the sample gets too much space cause though it’s a good sample I would rather listen to Ren and we know he could have sung it or something else. The man doesn’t need to use a sample for a chorus. Still a banger though.
