Des Moines Legmod is literally the best in the whole RB shop. Would definetly recommend it. Turret traverse problem is pretty much gone and you basically handle like a destroyer.

Yep, never played DM without it. Have played lots of Salem though, I don't like the handling. Leg mod DM though, hell you can open water if you have enough of a numbers advantage or just need to run away.

I don’t have the resources yet to run legendary mods on my tier Xs but the DM is my favorite cruiser by far, Salem pretty similar just handicapped with the lack of hydro and that shorter radar range. It never gets old to just see a light cruiser try turn broadside 🤣 they survive maybe 2 of your reloads, and that’s why DM and Salem are my favs

Zao being my first T10 cruiser, rarely ever touched it for ranked since I got the DM, sad. But DM has brought me a lot of fun games

So at the start of the vid it's mentioned worcester doesen't have as reliable ap as DM. I got flashbacks to a montana style all-guns-on-target worcester driveby on a salem. A 80% hp left devstrike in clan battles. Because of this, worcester AP will always have a special place in my heart

I too face the problem alot of not getting citadels with the des moines AP. Sometimes it doesn't feel worth it when the ship doesn't do what it's best at.

It's all fun and games until a BB decides to press W at you lmao.

What did you do to get rid of the "can't shoot" bug so quickly? I open the map settings and usually it goes away, but not always.

Playing a light cruiser in ranked is like a cheat code, ennemies tend to just focus you A LOT whenever you're spotted, and if you dodge properly you can make them waste a lot of shots on you instead of your teammates. I've seen battleships going out of their way to turn around all their guns just to shoot me while they have my team on their forehead .😂 😂😂 Or alternatively you make BBs run away by just your presence. Colbert is just perfect for that.

How do you get the bi tone camo scheme for your Des Moines? You have it for your Fletcher, too I noticed.

I found setting up the DM wirh legendary mod and getting to a safe ish island and wait for a Bb to stroll in important that you check your flanks before you start the guns, i can back up while shoot and burst forward when "incoming" alerts, try a fire and then lay on the AP right at the deck between turrets, then use radar to scare away dd that try to sneak up....then right when the BBs get outside your normal range flick the spotter and continue the carnage...

I struggle in cruisers. And tier VIII cruisers especially. The DPM is okay 3:11 . But you have to be close enough, and you have to *survive.* The problem is, most weapons significantly outrange yours. And your armor barely defeats spit balls. By the time you're close enough to hit anything, you've been in range of their weapons for 4-7 km. And you're going to take massive damage if you're seen.

I've been spamming GK for great success, currently working on acquiring UU and Lütjens :)

For the last 12 months I have played almost no randoms, ranked is so much of a better format. And there are less of the zero skill zero risk CVs.

Already have my Des Moines with a Surveillance Radar Mod. 1 but I'm sure this will helps through to win. Although about Worcester but still waiting on to get another Surveillance Radar Mod. 1 but I really want to save coal for ships and I do using a Upgrade Coupon instead. Both American Cruisers are good on both Des Moines as Gunship and Worcester are Support, Versatile.

wooster was my first t10 cruiser but nowadays I find it very difficult to play, it is very rare the game in which you can do something good, even if I win I never feel like I did something very good and my damage shows it.

Worcester was my first T10, as well. I've always been more support-minded, so that ship is right up my alley. It helps that it also has a bit better torp protection and a slightly less vulnerable citadel. And Worcester's Leg Mod is perfect for it.

Its amazing that the DM holds up as well as it does. It's been around for more than what, 5 years, 6 years now? Great pixelbote.

Would you recommend playing for the Des moines or for the minotaur?

I am sort of a potato but play a lot of Salem and Mino/Edgar and will say this: the DM/Salem line is extremely practical and versatile. Top shelf DPM and superlative AP. The Mino/Edgar lines play extremely fun. They are perhaps more effective DD killers than the DM/Salem lines, but they do good against a lot of classes and DM/Salem can kill DDs very well too, so it's not Mino/Edgar is hyper specific or DM/Salem can't cut it against DDs. In summary: if you want a good ship, play DM/Salem. if you want a fun ship, get Mino and run it with radar to grief DDs. One is practical, one is joyful. Your choice, no wrong answer.

DesMo. Radar mino hunts DDs but can't open water at all vs BBs and half the cruisers you'll face, and smoke farming is harder when your flank might only have 2 other ships to spot for you. The USN CAs have enough armor to not evaporate if you angle; you'll still get chunked but have time to do something, and if you're close enough to hit shells reliably you can basically 1v1 other cruisers and can even tangle with low health bbs (if they can't kill you in one salvo, you out DPM them and if they're low you can hopefully finish them before they reload).

Salem isn't as good of one because of the butchered radar range, but it's still a pretty decent choice

Could you some t9 and lower? Instead of focusing purely on t10+

I play DM, Småland or bourgogne in ranked mostly

i use the legentary mode and rpf to my des mo

5:20 The hypocrisy tho... complaining about submarines, when you oblitarated the sub and he couldn't damage you :) Like all those potatoes who complain about CVs when they just can't be bothered to learn how to counter them.

Is it me or could that Napoli (which is significantly tankier than a Worcester) have largely mitigated the problem by simply slowing down, allowing you to slide off faster, rather than continuing to just plow you forward which made it take longer to untangle?

Not only that, look at where he was heading. It looked like he was deliberately trying to drive him into that land and PQ barely escaped. As soon as they separate, he's off the throttle. For sure that was on purpose.

Why is expert loader so important on a ship with such a fast reload ? I wouldn't use a BB or BC without it, but with DesMoines it makes you save like 2 seconds when you switch, and only if you didn't plan the switch in advance. Pass.

Because with the US special captain it’s 75% off the switch time, ie literally 1.5 seconds. You would be amazed how many cruiser players will risk turning out to get all guns on, or torps off because they think you are just spamming HE for you to then spank 20k off them with the surprise AP salvo. Also for when you get snap shot opportunities when you have HE loaded eg for the start of a game where you are covering a cap with HE for a DD, and then a Mino pushes out of smoke mid turn out, where he will be safely angled in < 5 seconds. For me it is a mandatory DM skill.

US cruisers are good.... that is if the players playing it aren't the typical... I'm gonna be so far back that my radar is of no use, island humpers that plague the NA Server.

All radar cruisers are amazing in ranked. Radar is stupid overpowered. What else is there to really say? The benefits of other cruisers do not outweight what radar brings to the table for the Americans and Russians. That isn't a healthy thing for the game. It just means DDs are trivialized unless they have a french flag.
