A very interesting story and I was surprised when you said you weren't in favor of the death penalty. I personally am in favor of it because It is so expensive to house these guys for the next 30 to 60 some odd years and I don't believe the taxpayers should have to be burden with that cost. Besides that they don't deserve to live any longer. I worked undercover narcotics for the state of California when I was young and had a partner that was tortured and murdered by some very bad people and I have no sympathy for them frying in the chair.

@@UTCM, I didn't mention about my brother being murdered. They say only one guy did it but we know it was 3 of them. He was a cook in a prison and he was walking them back to the cell area. They jumped him and stabbed him over 100 times. There were puncture the size of an ice pick, the size of a pencil and slices, and many other types of wounds. It almost drove my Mom crazy. Sometimes you can't depend on the courts to do what is right so you just have to take care of things yourself. Moving on, did I understand it correctly that you live in Chiang Mai? In the 15 years I've been living in Thailand I have never been there, probably because I have never had a car. I'm in the process next week, I bought a Honda 350 bike. One of the places I want to see is Chiang Mai. I won't be using my bike until I get the sidecar put on it. When I got a call from Panama City beach police . 3 kids had been eating skipped out on there bill got into a chase with the police and rolled the car , they were all caught . My partner and I had to come down process the car , then transport the kids back to Tennessee . The detectives down there set us up in a really nice hotel on the ocean it was Saint Patrick's day and there was an Irish Bar across the street .... Those kids all got tried as adults and sent to Federal prison one managed to escape years later ...

I had an American buddy who was parked out there, as well some guy I knew from my youth there, who spent many years--and eventually died--in Bangkok. I liked it, but it scared me a bit. I feared that if I came to Thailand to live, I'd end up drinking in bars every night and be as lonely as I perceived many of the American, Australian, New Zealander and European guys I'd talked to in these bars. I never went back. Still, there's a small part of me still there and that's why I watch many videos about the lives of foreigners in Thailand.

Interesting one, William. Thanks. I would have thought that once this guy (the “perp”) jumped bail and skipped town the cops would have picked up on his connection with Thailand and alerted the Thai authorities to the fact he was Wanted in the US and as such was likely an “Undesireable” here. Of course it’s unlikely they could seek to extradite him but there’s usually a “ ways and means” whereby they could refuse him entry or to extend his visa.

I have absolutely no sympathy for this excuse for a human being, controversially I agree with the death penalty in this case, as even though the other inmates will treat him with the respect that he deserves (NOT), and they will cordially give him a frequent beating, which the guards will never see. I don't believe that the taxpayers should have to pay for looking after him effectively. Over the last 2 decades, I have traveled to Thailand 21+ times so the Westerners I meet that call Thailand home, are on the whole good people, but there are plenty of wannabe mafia types that nobody back home would tolerate, without reading to them about their short life with a lot of pain horoscope.
