This isn't so 2000s, this is the 2000s. American Idol defined the 2000s. It was the biggest thing in the world in the 2000s. Every country outside of America watched American Idol. Shows that had their own version of idol Their versions of idol weren't even as popular as American Idol. In Canada more people watching American Idol than they were watching Canadian Idol. In Australia multiple watching American Idol than they were watching Australian Idol. There are three things that Defined 2000 s. George W bush , the cell phone, and American Idol. You can't even talk about the 2000s without mentioning American Idol. That would be like talkin about the 90s and not mentioning Seinfeld.

the fox days were the thing then, now they dont have an opening title they just play a 4-5 second title card and thats it

This song reminds me of my Guinness world record of running to the kitchen, getting a quick snack before Ryan was on my TV...

My family and I used to watch every episode back when the judges were Randy, Paula, and Simon. It was more entertaining than it is now. And it was hilarious when they would show the bad auditions and the 3 of them would be trying so hard not to laugh. Now they don't even show the bad auditions.

@@kassiogomes8498did you even watch the show? Nobody bad enough to actually get laughed at had any future in singing, they wouldn’t laugh at a contestant unless it was comically bad. The people who were close but got a “no” were always treated seriously.

The 2000s are so great

I remember watching the 2007 season with my girlfriend at the time. We lived far away from each other, but we would always watch the segments and deliberate about them during the commercial breaks on MSN messenger. Those were the days.

The theme sounds like an air raid siren remix with an electric guitar and futuristic special effects

Air sirens always did it for me in dance music. Its something about the harmonics in sirens that make them hypnotic and Trancey.

Listening to it a dozen times still doesn't make it get old

Man, this theme song for this series EACH season has always been a BOP. I can dance to these at raves. I always sang/hummed every "oh ooo wee oh oh eeeeeeehhhheeeeee"

Damn this theme song makes me feel old I’m barely 21 now and I remember watching this with my parents when I was like 10

The fact that you can still see the words pop idol in the 2002 intro is sad but then fixed it up and make it look better in 2003 & 2004. They also covered up pop idol with american idol over it. Also 0:02 totaly the best editing skills.

My childhood memories with idols. I started watching American Idol in 2004 where Fantasia became the winner. After that, I addicted to watching the show until season 13. I love the theme and intro music. I miss Hollywood week and the stage every season.

Ah the more simpler times, watching American Idol with my bowl of Cookie Crisps on a Friday night of the year 2008. The judges, primed and ready, all hear the talented, the dull, the boring, and, oh my word, the hilarious(Got to love pants on the ground😂). As the people who are auditioning are singing, the judges are carefully noting strengths and weaknesses of the singers without a quick push of a button, some brutally honest and some easing the truth to the ears of the lucky and unlucky. The fortunate achieves the goal of getting the Golden Ticket to Hollywood to obtain their wildest of dreams while the others, either take it like a champ or the logo is over their mouths, pack their bags to go home. With the arrival of the Golden Ticket holders, they go on the stage amongst a live audience and sing their heart out in front of the judges to become the next American Idol!

This makes me so nostalgic for my preteen and teen years. ❤️

Amazing piece of Trance music. All coming out of the golden era of Trance. This tune is so hypnotic and mystifying. Aother theme song from that era that is addictive and hypnotic is Element Four (Paul Oakenfold) - Big Brother Theme UK The Australian Big Brother Theme, more Elector based, is also awesome.

I still remember watching season 1 live and being floored when Tamyra went home. Season 1 didn't have the huge ratings of 2-9 and it was clearly cheap but so many great memories. Literally every Kelly Clarkson performance, Nikki escaping the bottom 3 every week, Simon calling RJ a loser and Randy standing up ready to fight Simon for that, Christina not being there for the results because she was taken to the hospital and then going home anyway, Tiffany Montgomery changing her name to Ryan Starr for the live shows, people bringing up flowers for the contestants, it's TAMIKA, AJ's cuteness but not being able to sing very well, Jim's sad story about his deaf parents, Justin Guarini just being Justin Guarini, Kelly's winning moment singing A Moment Like This, Kelly and Justin doing From Justin to Kelly after the show. Pure gold

Season 1 had great ratings for a summer show, that’s why it got picked up for a regular run in the spring the next year. Can’t compare summer ratings to in-season ratings

I watched American Idol from 2005 to 2011/2012 with my family. I was probably too young for the first two seasons since they were on a school night. The later years were just ‘meh, whatever’.

I was 10 years old when the first season aired, and I remember seeing few episodes here and there and watching the finales, but I didn't get super into the show and watch every single episode until season 3. Then I watched it up until season 9 when I was a senior in high school. But I definitely started losing interest after Paula and Simon both left. And it definitely wasn't the same once all three original judges were gone. I sure do miss the old days of American Idol!

I was in the 5th grade when Kelly Clarkson and Ruben Studdard won. In 6th grade, I watched the season 3 finale with my family in the living room. In 8th grade, I was teased by a bus driver for Katharine McPhee losing to Taylor Hicks in 2006. I rooted for Jordin Sparks, Blake Lewis, David Archuleta, Adam Lambert and James Durbin who is a neurodivergent like myself. In summer 2012, I took a picture with Thia Megia, one of the contestants who got voted off the show the year before, at a theme park.

Feel the energy when the intro music played... Different from other singing reality show....

season 14 was the best and littest intro...

I didn't get to watch Season 1 and 2, but I'm glad that I did watch when Malaysia broadcasted it!

Seasons 10 through 13 are weirdly nostalgic for me. My mom's favorite show when I was a kid. At least until she switched to Forensic Files lol

Before The Walt Disney Company-owned company ABC acquired the rights to the show back in 2017 for season 16 of the returning revival series in which it on the network in 2018 up to present year 2023 and many many years to come!

I remember the UK had their version, but it got cancelled after series 2 because of low ratings and the winner not selling enough records.

I remember that video. All I have to say about that toy is "pathetic".

I never liked American Idol, but it was one of the best shows on Fox til they made the stupidest mistake of letting it end. Hope their new owners are more kind and at least more willing to give new shows a try before they cancel them.
