When I left the Philippines after being away for almost 5 years, I felt culture shock being in the US, I came to NY to see my mother and nothing looked the same, in 5 years difference it was like a massive transformation of a lot of areas, everything also looked fake, buildings decor, it looked like everything was put together in 5 minutes. But also the driving was great, the tippin has got out of hand tho, people that have never been ones that you tip before now expect tips and companies want you to tip every employee they have just for buying a soda.

Great video! I recently just moved from the U.S. to Vietnam. I am also considering living in the Philippines. The number of overweight and obese Americans is staggering. It is especially sad to see people in their teens, 20's, and 30's that are obese and really just don't care. Appearance aside, it is a major health crisis that will result in a short life expectancy. As you have discussed, tipping is out of control in America. Your Subway story is a great example. Tipping someone for just making you a sandwich? Really? I think the poor attitude and rudeness with some of the employees stems from the fact that they hate their low paying job and don't care what the customers think. The political climate in America is polarizing. Literally, half of Americans hate the other half due to their political beliefs. And no, hate is not too strong of a word here. I'm not going to discuss politics, but I hope America can remain a democracy after the November election.

So, you have to be careful here in the Philippines. Thanks Gio for sharing. Not too much obese here because I think you sweat the fat because its too hot and humid. Welcome home.

Gio & Maya, when you all visit Japan in August. You will find the Japanese ladies dressing very elegant in all times & with no weight issues. When I see my half Japanese & Tex-Mex beautiful daughters in Tokyo they always dress up very nice. Their personality is very reserved and quiet. My Japanese wife is very beautiful & soft spoken. I also will never return to live in the States.

And very cold to me. 55 degrees. It was really really cold. I was ready to get back here😜 the gender issue was crazy to me as well. One place I went to only took credit card no cash. I was I a hotel in San Diego. I went to In/out love food. And like you said lots variety in everything. It did not feel like home. Best thing I love was it was very quiet!

I just got back from the Philippines loved my visit there going back in November But America is becoming more unfriendly everyday it was a bit of a cultural shock for me going there that everyone was so friendly Only thing I missed when I was in the Philippines was my bed because when I wasn’t at a hotel I was in the province which was interesting good but interesting and like you said driving I am going to be buying a scooter in November there for me and my LDR to use besides she needs it to get to work faster so maybe I won’t miss driving as much But the whole atmosphere there in the Philippines is so I mean so much better than America just hoping I can retire early there in five years that’s the plan I’m only 50 now good luck you two and keep up the content

Driving in the Philippines is horrible. Lots of places in Philippines offer taping the credit card. Go to a decent western restaurant in the Philippines and its more expensive than the US. Even at Chilis a medium salad is 650 pesos. A can of coke is over 100 pesos. What do you expect to see in Wisconsin. Go to California or Vegas to see hot girls. Actually white rice is pure processed carbs/sugar. It will make you obese. You see huge beer bellies in the Philippines also.

Yes things have changed in the USA the last, say 10 years, being in my late 50s...Its something that seems to have accompanied the internet, coincidence? Probably not. Political opinions are now a way of life for many, not much United in the USA sadly. The economy isn't the greatest but that also seems to ebb and flow, good, bad, repeat.. Basically the simple things, simple life has gone away overall. That's a big draw to the Philippines for people in my age group imo. Cost of living is a major draw also. Just some random observations . I plan to retire in the pi with my long time Filipina partner, wife. To the point of a no brainer decision. Thanks for your videos!!!

Why aren't you living with your sons? A Father that's overseas not being with his sons being a father figure, seems off. Messed up relationships are disastrous. I see so much of this in the world. At least you visited them for a short time.

Hi Maya, I'm currently vacationing here in the UK after living in Philippines. Due to lack of cheese in Aklan, I have lost 8.5 kilos and ALL of my friends in the UK were shocked when they saw me! I missed the groceries here in the UK but I cannot wait to go back where my home is, Philippines! 10 more days to go in cold and wet UK.

Their are 50 states and alot of territory. He went to like one. He is broke because he abandoned his family and left to make money on KZread. Its like going to manila and saying wow the Philippines sucks. Lots of fat poor people begging. Crime, poverty, waiting always. So many rules. Or being 62 having a pension and a bank account. Being able to stay in the best areas of manilla and traveling on to the province to a home You bought on the beach and enjoying. He was broke in America. Can he take the kids to disney No. Can he take the kids to the grand canyon No. Can he spend money No. This is the reality. But you don't know because he will never take you.✌😁
