The welcome kit I got with gold charge card says among other things that I will get 5000 RPs on first renewal on payment of renewal fee.

There is one more difference. If MRCC is taken through referral link, the joining fee is nil and annual fee is just ₹ 1500. In case of gold card the annual fee remains at ₹ 4500 even if taken through referral.

@@thippanayugesh8414 It must have been 2000 bonus points and not ₹ 2000 joining fee. The joining fee for both MRCC and gold card is ₹ 1000 plus GST. You also get 4000 points after realisation of the fee and spending some minimum amount. On referral you sometimes get 2000 reward points extra.

Mrcc is also offered ltf at times. I have it ltf from 5 years

Very detailed comparison video. I have the Amex MRCC and it has good benefits especially with renewal fee waiver.

It's unfortunate they don't give MR points for insurance payment through AMEX Card. I recently paid my car insurance through my Canadian AMEX Cobalt Card which gave me a ton of MR points. If only Indian AMEX has similar benefits compared TO Canadian/ American AMEX.

As far as gold card is concerned, US version is a lot better but way more expensive too. As against the annual fee of ₹ 4500, US version carries a fee of USD 250

@@CardAcademy This will not change till we keep accepting this nonsense. In my view Amex shouldn’t be patronised by Indians till they remove this anomaly. This is all the more glaring in case of platinum charge card, wherein they charge the same as they do in case of US version but shortchange the Indian card members

I have a peculiar observation on Amex cards. The cards which have good spend based benefits like Amex gold, MRCC, smart earn, platinum travel etc don’t have good non spend based benefits. Their premium cards like plat charge and reserve have good non spend based benefits but their reward rates are poor. Moreover, acceptability is always an issue with Amex. I think they can never compete, even in the premium segment with Indian banks like HDFC and axis, in India. They need to work out something different.

Amex is not meant for lounge access unless you go into platinum reserve card. Get a dinners card for lounge

There’s no need for enrolment. If you have this card already then you are eligible for such benefits. Points will be credited if you achieve these milestone benefits.
