I love the new format with the repetitions at the end! I think repetitions make all the difference when trying to change your accent. I also love the fact that you encourage us to repeat this for several days! It will be great if you can continue this format with future videos. Repetitions are really, really helpful! I think the two most helpful things to repeat are 1. Vowel minimal pairs 2. Shadowing videos with complete analysis first

Can "Jus came in to" be pronounced "jus came innu" like "nt" t omission?
@rachelsenglish
15 күн бұрын
Sometimes, yes! I've heard this INTO reduction before (IN + schwa), but many people will use the flap T or true T in this word.
Please, Rachel. I have a question, is this sentence grammatically correct "He is a clever person and funny." or only "He is a clever and funny person." ?? Thanks in advanced
@rachelsenglish
12 күн бұрын
The second version sounds smoother to me, but "He is a clever person, and funny" also works. It just makes "and funny" seem like an afterthought.

Hi Rachel, I have a question, that is ae in word "band" and e in word "ben" are the same? Everytime I hear the native says, it's sound similar for me.
@rachelsenglish
15 күн бұрын
Hi! They are not the same. "Band" uses the AA +nasal sound, and "Ben" uses the EH as in bed vowel. More on AA vs. EH here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4FtybKze9aXeMo.htmlsi=Qgj1eaiDZSnThwBy

Hi Rachel, I encounter a word “ colonel”. There is a “r” sound in it, but there is no r letter. Is the first “o” or first “l” pronounced with extra “r “ sound?

This is an unusual word, for sure! It's pronounced KER-nel, using the UR sound instead of "olo".

So that means that Eugene Levy lost his Canadian accent an adopted an American one for the sake of acting?
@rachelsenglish

Actors can be very skilled at switching their accents to match how they want to sound for different characters. Some may decide to change their accents in their real lives, but usually they will just choose to use different vocal tones and accents for the different roles they play.
