When Cadillac truly led the world. She is superb in quality, style, reliability .

The most unusual feature from standard Cadillacs is the hood opening. More Imperial like than Cadillac. Truely a beautiful automobile. My grandfather would say that is an automobile not a car.

Amazing how many of you Cadillac ‘experts’ don’t know what this is. You should do your home work before you open your mouth and say it’s not a 59. It’s the rarest lowest production 59 model made, the frames were shipped to Italy and the bodies custom made by Pininfarina. Only 99 were built.

I saw this car on the day - it was stunning.

Huge fan of the late 50s and early 60s Cadillacs and honestly I can say I have never seen one of these El Dorado Broughams. Dazzling

Awesome Eldorado Brougham! And it is a ‘59! I thought it was a ‘60 at first but, I was wrong. Curveball! 😍

Amazing how many in comments section don't seem to know anything about the 59 Brougham and claim this is a 60, lol. Then again they are rare as hen's teeth, so perhaps we forgive. I can only imagine the restoration cost or what was essentially a hand built automobile. The chassis interchanges, but very little else. The interior is mostly bespoke as well.

@Joe. I'm confused too. I thought "all" '59 Eldorados had tail lamps on the fins. I would've thought this was a 1960 also. 😊

Wow, I knew quite a bit about the 57/58 Eldorado Broughams but I never really knew of the 59/60. I like this one much better than the other ‘59 Cadillac models. Its no where near as gaudy and flamboyant. Vey cool!

My grandfather drove a Cadillac that looked just like this one back in the day.

This Eldorado Brougham is 1959. No panel on this car will interchange with any other 59 Cadillac or 1960 models. Mainly because 59 Brougham panels were all hand made/beaten/moulded. Dimensionally there were differences, door lengths, width of headlight brows and longer from headlight glass to the end of the brow and many other smaller details unique only to this Brougham. GM Cadillac had, had it's fun, it was time to begin moving in another direction. The 1960 Cadillac's overall look showed similarities to this Brougham. Fins now began to decline in height. . . .The party was over. The 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham has a fascinating story, how, why, who. Though only if your a car nut like me. When Made in Usa was the simbol of quality and glamor .I miss thats GOLDEN days of this beautifull American country.

Engine maintenance on this model is a nightmare because the hood is so small. I wonder about that sheet in front.

I didn't realize Pina Ferina was in buisness with Cadillac 30 yrs before the Caddy Allante came out in 1989..

This is a 1959 ELDORADO BROUGHAM. And yes, it didn't have the insane tail fins of other 1959 models. This was custom built and came fully loaded with every Cadillac option for the time and was over $13K, the most expensive American car at the time. The 1959 Eldorado Biarritz (convertible) and Eldorado Seville are the 1959 models with the crazy tail fins.

There is no “Italian styling” in this car. They were designed in the USA by Dave Holls in Detroit. It’s a spectacular car. I own #86 of the 101 made in 1960. I’ve never seen a ‘59 Eldorado Brougham in real life.

First models seems to be better finished, nicer than Pininfarina models, more exclusives than second models.

The largest market for those cars in the 50's were the oil billionaires in Texas. All of them would order them as fast as they could make them.

I don't understand why this, the most expensive Cadillac model for 1959, with custom hand-built body work, didn't have those fabulous over the top tail fins with the bullet lights. The 1960 Cadillacs would incorporate this style.🎃

Lacks the wraparound windshield and the rocket fins of the regular and other Eldorado Cadillacs of that year. What's was the point of designing (and buying) this ?

Only 99 were built and then 101 were built for 1960. At $13,074 there were not many takers.

Beautiful paint, looks like lacquer. My grandmother had a 59 coupe de ville and that damn point in the rear nailed me more than once while washing it. This car is beautiful even if its a 60.

This is a mostly unknown Cadillac, a marketing exercise in 1959 to one-up their competition with Lincoln. Otherwise it wasn't sold to the public or put on display in dealerships. They were sold to famous wealthy people to bolster Cadillac's reputation as the most expensive Cadillac and as a hand built car styled in Italy. As I recall only 100 were built. Today it is used by jerks on the internet to start arguments as to whether it is a 1959 or a 1960. The styling was adopted to style the mass produced 1960 model Cadillacs. I've been going to antique car shows and museums for over 50 years and I've never actually seen one. Personally I have no interest in this marketing weapon between Cadillac and Lincoln, since both brands are just rebadged Chevrolet's and Ford's, especially the clunky SUV models.

Beautiful, but nowhere near as beautiful as the 57 and 58 Broughams, surely the best American car ever made.

I thought so too.... but some research shows that the 59 Eldardo Brougham and Beritz were slightly different (the tail lights especially)

Sorry. But it is a 1959. The Eldorado Brougham used the 1960 styling cues while the Devilles and Eldorado Biarritz shared the 1959 body shell.

Nope! I have the 1959 sales brochure (order a reprint that they sell) and the 1959 Eldorado Brougham did not have the huge tail fins!

@@viciouspoodle5543 i like the '61 fins the best because they are on both the top and bottom of the car. the '62 fins are the same way but they are smaller than the '61fins. the front does look kinda like a '61 impala.

Yes indeed, that's a 1960. Front, back and sides are all different! How is it that he doesn't know what year his car is?😆

It's 1959! Cadillac meant this model to be aimed at the wealthy more mature luxury car buyer with it's more subtle styling 1960s had basically the same look grille texture a little different
