I was told by kuia, (Gran) Kai Tangata (cannibalism) was only performed by the Rangatira (chief), (priest) or war party, not every member of the Iwi (tribe).

Interesting fact was the Haka was used in ww2, look up the Maori Battalion. They were so feared by the Nazis that Rommel said if he had the Maori battalion he could take over the world.

Lol you both looked traumatised at the end lol. When we were children. Being Maori we use to have a song about cooking Europeans. It was Puha (edible weed) and Pakeha (European) It was said in jest.... mainly lol 😂

Apart from the pronunciation of the Maori kupu (words), it's pretty accurate ❤❤ Also, the practice of "consuming" a conquered chief or warrior was far more than just a "Savage act".. Maori believe that we are embewed with "Mana" which is a potency or life force and strength.. and the act of consuming the flesh of a mighty chief or warrior who had been conquered, was essentially taking into yourself, that "Mana".. although, over time, once a 'taste' for human flesh had been aquired, this may have become just a bonus..

The narrative is incorrect...funny how people change it with untruths, belittle others to make them feel better.
