Namibia(pronounced "Na-mi-bia") is derived from the word Namib which is what my ancestors the Khoe Khoe people call it, it means "vast land" in my language... there was originally a click in front of the "N" , it's a # which is a sound we make by snapping the tongue on the roof of the mouth, the way you pronounce it is by forming a vacuum and then releasing the seal making a snapping sound... We actually derive the word that translates to "country" or "country-wide" which is "#namibeb" in khoe khoe...

Namibia is empty because Germans wiped them out before leaving. They committed a genocide and killed millions of Hereros. A very sadistic thing happened in that country. These people are doing extremely well after what they went through.

  • @tonyeffik6781

they killed thousands not millions & i think the lack of population has more to do with the fact that namibia is an arid desert country, you can’t host a large population in such conditions unless the country is like egypt with a large freshwater river serving as a lifeline. even before the genocide, the ethnic groups residing in namibia weren’t exactly populous

Some of a many Namibian (pronounced Na-mi-bia) facts - "The Namib Desert is perfectly flat, which grants astronomers a 360-degree view of the sky. Located far from any human habitation, the desert has no light pollution at all. As such the Namib Desert skies are among the darkest in the Earth and so the best for watching the stars in the night. Stargazing here makes one observe the Milky Way stretching across the sky while the Megallanic Clouds fill the sky with bright light. There exists an observatory on the desert where a resident helps visitors to navigate the sky by use of a 12-inch telescope. Some of the wonderful observations that one can make is of the Jewel Box found inside the Southern Cross." - We pride ourselves with the biggest national, Namib-Naukluft National Park and the 7th biggest Etosha National Park. Etosha is the oldest national park in Africa - We have the biggest concentration of Cheetah's in the world, - We have the highest concentration of sand dunes in the world with Dune 7 (1256 feet (383 meters) being the 7th highest in the world, - We have two deserts, Kalahari and the Namib desert. The Namib desert is the oldest desert in the world, - We have the 2nd largest canyon in the world, Fish River Canyon after the Grand Canyon in the USA - It is believed that the oldest rock art is to be found in the Apollo 11 Cave in the Huns Mountains in south-western Namibia - in addition, Twyfelfontein has some of the largest concentrations of rock petroglyphs in Africa. The site is Namibia's first World Heritage Site as approved by UNESCO in 2007. - It is estimated that over a thousand vessels were washed up on the coastline, making this the largest ship graveyard in the world. The area is called The Skeleton Coast - Cape Cross Nature Reserve is the largest Cape fur seal colony in the world - Namibia is the only country in the world where lions have adapted to desert conditions and walk to the beach to prey on seals - Dragon’s Breath Cave, in Namibia’s Otjozondjupa Region, is home to the world’s largest non-subglacial underground lake, with an area of about 2 hectares (4.9 acres) - Ruacana Falls stretch across a width of 2,300 feet (700 m) and reaches a height of 390 feet (120 m). Based on width and volume, the falls is one of the largest waterfalls in Africa - Namibia and Mali are the only countries in the world that have desert Elephants - Hoba Meteorite is the largest known meteorite on Earth.

Hi.... I have checked this video and its awesome, but as a Namibian there is like some things that lack in this video because the Namib desert is situated in the habour town of Walvis Bay next to the town he mentioned "Swakopmund"..... And he was suppose to show more of Walvis bay and swakopmund township and landscape . on country is having beautiful cities that people don't wanna, its even more far beautiful than Nigeria. Our country was top cleanest country in Africa for like tens of year, until 2022 when they put us on 2nd or 3rd position, but every thing in this video is real

We do not have the northern lights, but YES! that was the milkyway galaxy view and we do have great views of the night sky here in Namibia - Stars are beautiful : clear, colorful, and closer we got little to no light pollution here.

Fun fact.. white South Africans prefer camping over hotels and chalets. We want to experience the bush life where we sit around the fire and watch the stars while playing guitar and singing along. Black people from SA have taken up more of this culture over time but it is a dream of white South Africans.. most of our parents dream of the day that they can give up their house and just go camp for the rest of their lives.. usually we get called crazy by black Africans because all they dream about is moving to the cities and living the high life.. on the other hand, we want simplicity and peace which means no technology, no houses, tv, etc.. we want nature..

We were understanding until you said no house. We like our house, Nelene! 😅 We want the country living away from the city, but indoors.
