Not just them but I am, suprised Beverley Allitt didn't get a mention with her being a serial killer nurse of babies much like the more prolific one. Perhaps its because Allitt came from lincolnshire she is less well known.

Could be down to numbers, I think, for example shipman's count went to 168, the Moor's murderers count was 5 possibly 8

Brady and Hindley should really be in there. Both were imprisoned and more or less conned the prison service and tormented their victims families by not revealing where the bodies were buried.

I was surprised John Christie wasn't included. He murdered at least eight people-including his wife, Ethel. There is a movie about him about him called '10 Rillinton Place', starring Richard Attenborough.

Even worse was that poor Timothy Evans was executed for the murders of his wife and baby daughter, but Christie was the actual killer.

Rosemary and Fred West was horrific, I can still remember when they were arrested and they started digging up their garden and the first body was found. The more they explored and the more bodies that were found was terrifying. They tore down the house eventually .

I think the Fred and Rosemary West case is the most vivid for the way it played out in real time on the news, every evening the story got more and more horrific. But for real life drama, David Tennant's portraial of Denis Neilson is definitely worth watching.

The moors murders ommitted seriously? We also had an angel of death serial killer too who was a nurse called Beverley Allitt. She had Munchousen by proxy and injected babies in her care with insulin and killed them. I live in the town where she worked and personally know parents affected so she would be number one to me for that alone. Evil woman. Ian Huntley is famous too but not a serial killer. Our island maybe small but proportionately the amount is scary

I was born in Beverley's hospital hunting grounds a month after her arrest. My mum reasoned 'it was the safest hospital in the world at that point in time' because of the police investigations. xD

@Swfco It's contentious to label someone suffering with Munchausen syndrome by proxy as "evil" as it's classified as a mental illness and of course, Beverley Allitt was unfortunately undiagnosed so therefore untreated prior to her arrest.

Great reactions as always. Amelia Dyer probably slipped into obscurity because her victims were nameless infants with no one to miss them. The crimes happening over a long period of time, and only coming to light when she was found out. Jack the Ripper on the other hand was widely reported at the time of the crimes causing panic in the East End of London, with graphic drawings of the victims appearing in the newspapers of the time and sensationalising the story to sell the papers. Thus entering into the British folklore and physche

Tragic video but I would question their choice of perpetrators and the "ranking" of them. To not include the Moors murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley is inconceivable. The one that struck me most was Peter Sutcliffe because his first attempted murder was in my home town and we used to go cross-country running past his house in Bradford in school PE.

The worst thing about Peter Sutcliffe was the terror as everyone knew someone was on the loose doing these things. Most of our serial killers we only know about after they have been caught and their actions have come to light. He would be number 1 for me

@@Jobladesuck Having lived through it I know the fear for our female family members was very real. We wouldn’t allow them to be out alone after dark and ensured they were collected and or dropped off if they need to go anywhere. I used to play rugby with a lad in the police and he told me, when we met up to play a match, that Sutcliffe, arrested in the early hours of the same morning, had been identified as the Yorkshire Ripper. He knew something was up when he returned to the station from his shift in the early hours to find it knee deep in empty beer cans!

@@ianpark1805 I know he got as far as Sheffield too as someone was telling me the other day that he was calling at womens doors in their street offering to repair washing machines. They recognised him after his arrest obviously but I’m not sure how documented this info was (obviously if the person was telling truth as it’s hearsay but I have no reason to think them liars)

I come from Bradford where Peter Sutcliffe unfortunately resided and my sister worked with his wife Sonia (I must explain, she was actually a substitute teacher but helped her mum out when she didn't have work), who's mother ran an old people's home in Manningham, an area where he had killed several women. One time she offered my sister a lift into town so she wouldn't have to wait for the bus where a serial killer was on the loose, so my sister actually got a lift into town by the said Yorkshire Ripper in order to avoid said serial killer, the irony is not lost on us 😱🤯

Woo that’s mad, my late husband had met him a few times as I delivered and picked stuff up from where he worked. My husband used to make all the drivers a cuppa and chat to them m was shocked when they found out who he was, before that we used to joke with my husband as he looked a bit like the photo fit pictures and had same shoe size. Never serious though as for one thing he couldn’t drive.

Unfortunately two of the killers featured in the video were residents in my city of Bradford. These were Griffith, the cross bow killer who lived in the same block of flats as a work friend of mine and actually committed one of his murders on camera in the corridor of his floor. The second was Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper. At the time that he was committing his crimes I was a young assistant Scoutmaster in a group that met in a hall overlooking a road junction on the corner of one of the area’s where he went to find some of his target “working girls”. One evening I found two of the young boys watching some of the prostitute’s awaiting a pick up and if they saw a girl get in a car , these boys were making notes of the car registration number’s in the hope of getting information leading to his arrest and a share of the reward for his capture. Alas for all concerned they didn’t succeed in getting his number. And before anybody says that my fellow leaders and I should have stopped the boys from observing the activities of the girls, we are talking about the boys own mother’s and sister’s/ cousins, this was part of their daily lives.

1 - *Mark Rowntree.* Born and raised in *Bradford.* (4 victims murdered) 2 - *Stephen Griffiths* aka *"The Crossbow Cannibal."* Born in *Dewsbury,* West Yorkshire and possibly raised there too, but he had lived in *Bradford* for years prior to the killings. (3 victims murdered) 3 - *Donald Neilson* aka *"The Black Panther."* Born and raised in *Bradford.* (4 victims murdered) 4 - And the most famous of all *Peter Sutcliffe* aka *"The Yorkshire Ripper."* Born and raised in *Bradford.* His house is just around the corner from my old school, where his wife still lives today. (13 victims murdered, 9 victims injured, many more suspected). *Bradford* also has links to the serial killer *John Christie* who was born in *Halifax,* West Yorkshire, as his wife was *Halifax* born, but raised in *Bradford* with her *Bradford* born siblings. There's also a strong possibility he worked in *Bradford* for a short period. He's the *"10 Rillington Place"* murderer. (8+ victims murdered) *Bradford* also has a few famous *executioners* in: 1 - *Albert Pierrepoint.* Born and raised in *Bradford.* 2 - *Henry Pierrepoint.* Born in *Normanton on Soar,* Nottinghamshire. Lived in *Bradford* from anywhere between 5 and 20 years depending which source you read. He's the alcoholic father of Albert. 3 - *Thomas Pierrepoint.* Born in *Sutton Bonington,* Nottinghamshire. Lived in *Bradford* for at least 63 years until his death. He's the uncle of Albert who stayed with him regularly, and the brother of Henry. 4 - *James Berry.* Born in *Heckmondwike,* West Yorkshire. He lived in *Bradford* for the final 39 years of his life. *Bradford* also has many people like one of the people who committed the *London Bombings of 2005* aka *7/7.* KZread likes to censor that word beginning with *T* that I haven't mentioned.

I loved that show and watched with my dad he loved the archaeology .

There was John Haigh known as 'the acid bath murderer' he would kill his victims then try to dissolve the bodies in barrels of Sulphuric acid. He was caught after the dentures (among other body parts) of his final victim were found as the acid had not dissolved them. He had taken the legal phrase 'corpus delicti' to mean without an actual body he could never be charged, where as it actually refers to the fact there has to be a body of evidence of the crime to bring the case. The drama 'A is for Acid' was made about the murders.

There's a strong school of thought a member of British royalty was Jack the Ripper. Prince Albert was whisked away to Scotland at the same time that these murders took place and all of a sudden the killing stopped. He was well known for going out at night to seedy parts of London and by all accounts was a bit of a party animal (for the time). Coincidence the murders stopped when he went away? You have to remember Royalty was untouchable in those days. Great video as usual ladies.

I'd never heard of Amelia Dyer, but learned she was doing what she was doing at the same time as Jack The Ripper, and had no idea she was even at one point considered the Ripper herself, but her actions didn't fit the profile. How on earth she didn't get the same level of media attention is beyond me.

As a yorkshire lass. I was terrified when the 'yorkshire ripper' was around..... my hubby was picked up and questioned by the police 3 times over Peter Sutcliffe, because he had a beard/tash and a gap in his teeth. Tho he looked nothing like Sutcliffe.

The reason people are fascinated with Jack the Ripper, is because it is an unsolved mystery. If you ever make it to London, I can recommend the guided walk of the Whitechapel, where the murders took place. It's an after dusk walk and is incredibly creepy. I have heard of most of these characters, but not the lady murderers. The tabloid press have a field day when there is a multiple killer, and will take up most of the paper with the grizzly details. And people love it!

There is still a dark turn-of-phrase in the UK that comes from Amelia Dyer, when a young-woman "gets herself in trouble" and goes to see the Dr. some will still refer to it as "going to see the Angel-Maker"

Psychiatric hospitals in the U.K. are sadly closing at an horrendous rate.

So, no mention of Ian Brady and Mira Hindley, wow.

You guys should definitely check out Lemmino’s 2 part documentary on Jack The Ripper. It goes really in-depth and is super high quality. Both parts are pretty long but it’s really worth it.

The exclusion of the Moors surprises me, Myra Hindley was described as the most evil woman in Britain. Whether it's because there were only 5 victims, I don't know, but all victims were children, some of whom still haven't been found. They tortured and sexually assaulted the whilst playing The Litttle Drummer Boy, which is a song I can't listen to. I worked as a young staff Nurse in the State Hospital and of Al the women incarcerated I only met maybe 2 or 3 true sociopaths where there was nothing in their eyes and you knew that they would have hurt you very badly without the slightest remorse, emotion, it's very unsettling to look into someone's eyes and see that blank sheet of paper staring back When you look at Hindley and West there's nothing there either. You're right the victims are forgotten, I know a Jack the Ripper thing in London was being protested against as it was said it was forgetting the victims and their descendants,glamorising violence against women which I completely agree with. It shows our society for how it thinks that as long as the Yorkshire Ripper was murdering prostitutes it was ok, panic really only happened when he moved onto other women, then the outcry to catch him really started. In the case of Dennis Nilsen, again a common fallacy it was homosexual men he targeted and because of that, cause in the 70s and 80s, who cared about homosexuals being murdered, not the police, it's reckoned that's how he got away with it for so long. So yeah the victims are usually forgotten and it's the killers we get to know, sad really

With Peter Sutcliffe. My Grandad was in prison and got a job working in the prison’s kitchen and cafeteria. He remembers standing just behind the counter as he placed food on Sutcliffe’s tray. And even said “If it wasn’t for the guards watching them, he would off reached over and beat the crap out of him. My Grandad was also questioned, just once tho. For possibly being The Yorkshire Ripper. A another body was found and the police were looking for a middle aged man with a beard and driving a white van. He was pulled over but let go once realising he had nothing to do with the murders.

Hardy did an incredible job of portraying Bronson.

Jack the Ripper was a doctor, according to the latest findings, its also thought that he was never caught because people in power insured it was covered up, ensuring they never had to deal with the fact they knew him and had knowledge and his odd obsessions.

Harold Shipman's practice is like a 15 min bus ride from my house. He was caught when another Doctors office noticed Shipman's office had far more deaths than the average. He is now believed to have killed over 250 people. \thank god this is very rare because nobody would expect this from a person who's profession is to save lives wherever possible.

I met Harold Shipman at my Dad's retirement party in 1990. I only remember him because of his beard, though I was familiar with his name. My parents had been to dinner with him and his wife. My Dad was a GP in an adjoining town and on a committee with Shipman. He generally killed elderly patients using diamorphine. Some people had suspicions but no evidence was found until he forged the will of a former mayor to get her money. My Dad had to give evidence to the tribunal but could not remember the events of 20 years earlier.

I'm 47, British and had never heard of Amelia Dyer until seeing one of these youtube videos a few months ago, don't know why when you think how well known and notorious Jack the ripper was, strange!

Someone i'm surprised wasn't on there was Beverly Allitt, a nurse on a children's ward, who was also nicknamed the Angel of Death, after being convicted for killing numerous patients in the 90's.

You quite rightly mentioned that hopefully CCTV will make it difficult for potential modern day serial killers to remain at large but the developments in the field of DNA is also a significant factor.

In the 1800's Barbers were also backstreet surgeons, hence those candy striped, spinning pole signs you see outside barbers shops (representing blood dripping). So, Jack The Ripper could have been a hairdresser!

The Krays. What a fantastic film to watch, but do not watch the one with Tom Hardy, that version of the film is garbage. The Krays film you need to watch is the 1990’s version where Gary and Martian Kemp, play the Kray Twins. Gary and Martian Kemp apart from being actors, they were in a British pop band in the 1980’s called Spandau Ballet, Tony Hadley was the lead singer.

Fred and Rose West used to come to my home town Worcester to look for victims. I just read a book about a girl from my town who got approached by Rose West and tried to get her to go with her. She used to lure girls with things they might want/need then take them to a town 30 miles from my town and they both tortured and killed them.

Watch the Savile documentary on Netflix if you want to know more about the dark side of the UK. Its remarkable and horrifying, and you’ll wonder how he got away with it for so long.

Most people who knew him knew what he was. I’ve read books from before he died that basically accused him. The BBC charity Children In Need,the producer said he didn’t want Saville anywhere near it.

Quite apart from the exploits of Amelia Dyer, it is alleged the River Thames is littered with the bones of babies due to abortions, which were only legalised in 1967. Prior to that, 'back-street abortions' in London often entailed the foetus/baby being dumped in the Thames.

Interesting video! some of these i had never heard of before (the two female serial killers and the crossbow killer) as others have said i'm surprised the moors murderers were not included in this list. The most well known has to be Jack the ripper but there are a few less well known ones too we had a serial killer here in Suffolk called the Suffolk strangler in 2006 and in just a few short months killed 5 women, he got caught and sentenced to life imprisonment, at the time it received a lot of media attention and was often compared to Peter Sutcliffe.

I have heard the name of the baby murderer but I wasn't aware of the number of victims, that was a really harrowing one. The one with Dr Harold Shipman in Manchester, there are estimates of 1200 to 2000+ from looking at patient numbers over that time, but he would also take on the "work" of other doctors which wasn't supposed to happen without any paperwork being done, but the practice of doctors giving over patients if they were busy was known to happen often, I'm surprised that a nurse called Beverly Allot wasn't on the list, similar area to Shipman too, likewise Hindley and Brady, a couple from 1960's Manchester who kidnapped and murdered 5 or 6 children, she was manipulative and just bloody evil, obviously both were but Brady for the most part was besotted by her and so went along with whatever she suggested, my partner worked in the prison service, in uniform but office work, she used to calculate sentences and release dates for prisoners, she had access to information the governess wasn't allowed to see, she was one of three people who had access, this included doctors reports, psychiatric evaluations etc, she worked last off in a sex offenders prison, she once explained to me why rehabilitation doesn't work and how it is a waste of time and money with sex offenders, she did accept that it works for other types of criminals though. Good video, not a subject that I would choose, but it is interesting if In a strange way, if you get the chance to see 10 Rillington Place do so, it's about a murderer, but the most horrific part is that it was filmed in the actual house where the murders happened, yes it's an old film, but how anyone could think that was a good idea I'll never know.

Yeah I know the Amelia Dyer case pretty well, you can watch a documentary on her online. Also they really should've had Ian Brady and Myra Hindley on here, another couple who were serial killers of children (the moors murders) case. Also Joanna Dennehy, she is one scary woman

I'm against torture in all but the most dire of circumstances, but I believe I would have approved its use on Ian Brady to extract the locations of the bodies of his and Myra Hindley's victims.

I grew up with the Yorkshire ripper, he killed 2 women in my village and left one for dead she survived. He made our teenage years hell. A man decided to record messages pretending to be him. He had a Sunderland accent so they concentrated oon finding him caused so many problems in the case. Peter Sutcliffe was arrested so many times and let go because of this. I'm 58 years old and still remember this time horrific

Me too. I was in Huddersfield at the time where he found one of his victims. The girs at Hudds. Uni were absolutely terrified about going out anywhere after studies and we men had to accompany them.

Harold Shipman was scary to me. I was doing my nursing training when it first came out. I was on a night shift and we put the tv on quickly at 6 am because somebody had heard something on the news. I just could not believe it.

They missed out the infamous couple The Moors Murderers, Crippen who put his victims in acid baths, Beverly Allitt nurse in the 80s who murdered children in hospitals...so many missed out

I was tiny at the time, and lived 100 miles from where he was killing women (which is a long way in the UK), and women were terrified. I've read about Amelia Dyer before (but i used to read books on serial killers when I was a teenager) - nobody knows exactly how many babies she killed, because it was the 19th century, and paperwork and policing were not as advanced as now. And horrifically, nobody really cared about the loss of dirt poor babies. Till she was caught, and it came out, and then it led to the introduction of much stricter abortion laws. But it's heartbreaking that women, often in horrible situations themselves, handed over their babies because she promised them that she'd find them safe homes. She was far from the only baby farmer of the time. The Moors murderers should be on the list though. They're still looking for one of their victims.

The Yorkshire Ripper had murdered one or more non-prostitutes and the fear in the community was off the scale. We were staying with my aunt and uncle for a couple of weeks and the women wouldn’t go out without their husbands, not for any reason. It seemed that everyone else locally was doing the same. Then we heard the police were combing the fields behind the houses looking for him, the sheer terror at that point I will never forget, especially as it got dark. That’s never left me. It was a horrible time. They caught him, he ended up in jail and recently he died and sadly, I did feel a sense of relief that he was gone from the world. I say sadly as I never want to feel relieved that anyone has died, I make an exception here though. It shows how it’s not just the victim or the close relatives of the victim are affected, it’s much wider than that.

I lived through the Ripper years as a Bradford teenager. I never left the house without my dad accompanying me. To this day, I can't leave the house alone after dark. Sutcliffe actually murdered the mum of one of my classmates, very sad. I work in the area she was murdered and often thunk of her. I have never wished death on anyone but I must admit to raising a glass of champagne when I heard of Sutcliffe's passing.

A few things for you to watch in your own time if you enjoy true crime. A series called Des about Denis Nielsen was chilling in its accuracy. Also there is a great programme about jack the ripper where they put a very convincing case forward and claim to prove the identity of the killer called ' the missing evidence, jack the ripper' from 2014 it's a fascinating watch.

As a lot of other commenters have said, the Moors Murderers should have been on this list.

I'm obsessed with true crime I watch a lot of police interrogations and read loads of true crime books while sunbathing in the garden - it's my guilty pleasure - we don't have as many court trial and interrogation videos put out for the public to see here in UK 🇬🇧 as you do over there

Hi girls I hope your both well. Along with Jack the Ripper, remaining unsolved, there was a series of murders in Glasgow during the late 1960s . These murders were know as the Bible John case.Another similar case to Harold Shipman was John Bodkin Adams ,also a doctor, who was suspected as a serial killer of patients in Eastbourne during the early 1950s

I recently read a book about Amelia Dyer and baby farming. What she did to those babies was horrific. I’m sure others would disagree, it it’s a shame we no longer have the noose for people like that.

I am sure it happened in other countries and in other places in the UK but they just didn’t get caught

I wish I hadn’t heard of any recent serial killers but there was one in my hometown in the UK in the early 2000s called the Ipswich Strangler.

A couple of movies you might be interested in. 1. Appropriate Adult - tv dramadoc about Fred & Rose West. Channel 4. 2. Moors Murders TV documentary about Ian Brady & Myra Hindley. Also Ch 4 I think. I"m shocked that the video you found did not include the moors murders as these have haunted UK since 1960s.

I did a study on Fred and Rose West. There's a full documentary on them. I think you guys should give it a watch with commentary . Hope you're all well and sending love to the doggos xx

Great video. Am still amazed that with technology smiley face killers, Pedro Lopez and I think its the long island serial killer still haven't been found (or have they?). Baby farming was common and killing the children. Brady and Hindley were the mist famous i would have thought Keep up the great videos.

2 Jack - being a doctor in the 1880's would have been a very small select group, of well educated higher class people - it's why the mythos created around Jack clings to it as social commentary too. Being a butcher/hunter/poacher however would have been more likely... knowledge of basic anatomy, especially through repetition and knowledge of the use of knives to do accurate cuts? I've never believed the doctor theory, unless he was "connected" or some kind of Jekyll and Hyde/dual personality...

... BASIC anatomy being the operative word. The mutilations and "operations" carried out by Jack the Ripper were very crude, and nothing that he did would have required detailed medical knowledge or surgical experience.

There is more evidence to suggest that Jack the Ripper was a butcher, rather than doctor or surgeon.

Excellent video girls! There’s a lot of theories about Whitechapel Jack, but for me the best book ever written on the subject is, “The Crimes, Detection and Death of Jack The Ripper,” by former Harvard professor Martin Fido. I also agree with his conclusions on the issue, though I feel there may have been a 6th victim, Martha Tabram, who may have been his first.

I was working at the Royal College of General Practitioners when the Harold Shipman trial kicked off. It was intense.

Even as a light hearted channel it would be good for you to react to some individual videos based on the subjects. I'm surprised that Ian Brady and Myra Hindley aren't on this list or Robert Thompson and Jon Venables. I know little of Amelia Dyer, she is largely forgotten now.

Great video as always. Quite a few other nasties like the moors murderers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley which was shocking. Also from Ipswich, Steve Wright who killed 5 woman in 2006. I haven’t heard of the woman and the babies though which is also horrific.

They could have easily had 30 not 10 in this video. We do have a LOT of serial killers.

the trouble with Savil was that the police thought these girls were making up stories so we're reluctant to investigate, there were other cases with a similar problem involving gangs of child groomers

I don't buy that at all. The police and intelligence services knew full well what was going on. I subscribe to the theory he was part of a honey pot scheme blackmailing other celebs/politians/royalty etc much like Epstein

The Stephen Griffiths backdrop is Bradford Town Hall as he was living in the Flats above the Tesco supermarket in Sunbridge road Bradford at the time of his deeds. The couple of lads , who I worked with in Leeds, who lived in the flat above him had often complained to the landlord about the use of powertools late at night. Peter Sutcliffe the Yorkshire Ripper from Shipley not Bradford used to drink in the Royal Standard pub on Manningham Lane Bradford and for years after the pub reserved his favorite seat by the open fire for him. Pub and murderer no longer around

Dennis Nilsen used to work for the Job Centre in London.

I agree that Jack The Ripper is got to be a medical doctor because he knows human anatomy, and some cuts on his victims were like done by a doctor. I believed Jack worn gloves to hide his fingerprints (I think Scotland Yard was using fingerprints to ID's their suspects that time).

Dennis Nilsen the guy who got caught by blocking his toilet with human flesh used to be...a policeman. Yeah...

Ian Brady & Myra Hindley should have been number 1! Known as 'the Moors murders'. Also Dr Crippen, another doctor who killed, Beverley Allet a nurse who killed.

Love watching you two girls, nice that you like this country as much as you do, we love you guys over the other side of the pond. It will be nice to have you over here. Idaho students murders has been the worst for me as seeing all their social media content and how lovely they were and especially the relationship two of the girls had all that time so so sad. That will stay with me the rest of my life.

My Grandmother was murdered by Dr Harold Shipman, he was also my Doctor. He came across as a lovely, thoughtful, caring person. How wrong could we be. Truly shocking.

I have never heard that "400 babies" one myself,and i have been born, raised & live in the UK for 58 yrs!Certainly did not learn it in History class!

I am really into True Crime and I remember that Nurse that you are talking about! Crazy.

Yes I know this is a year old but. Ah yes, Mary Ann Cotton. I live in Sunderland and the Uni used to have walks for history around the place and she was certainly named and talked about, along with a few others. There are a few pretty bad murders over the long years in Sunderland that are, well..... Robert Drummond lived in the East End of Sunderland in the early 18th century and enjoyed spending his time at a pub at the edge of the Old Town Moor (some wonder if this is the Welcome Tavern). Drummond also had a mistress at Ryhope, who stayed in a building called the Three Bears Head. However, at night he donned an identity as a notorious highway man and burglar who would seek to rob people on nearby roads around the North East. For his crimes he was banished to the colonies of North America, only for him to return to London and again continue his spree, until he was caught and then finally executed in 1730. Yeah, we sent Robert Drummond to you but for some reason he came back. On a lighter note but NOT a murderer/murderess, Peggy Potts was one of the most notorious smugglers in Sunderland History, but is more so of a legend than a villain given her actions never actually hurt anyone. A resident of Low Quay, she sold fish and Cheese whilst smuggling in alcohol into the city and had a reputation for outsmarting the police. She died at the Sunderland workhouse at the age of 86 in 1875. As for the most recent well known murder here that was talked about, this was a young girl, her mural was on a building which has since been knocked down. The guy responsible has just been sentenced after 20 years. Yes he got life.
