Congrats, SMU! First conference title since 1984 as they head to the ACC, next season! The good times continue to roll for DFW sports!

SMU was far and away the best team in the conference this year. Anyone paying attention to anything happening this year knew Tulane wasn’t going to win today and that SMU was the best team they have played all year, even with a backup qb making his first start.

Ole miss was the best we played all year, Pratt held the ball to long, couldn’t get anything going & got outplayed by a backup freshman.

​@@gunsmokethegogettaI wouldn't say Pratt got outplayed by the SMU backup, he got outplayed by our lack of depth at WR and SMUs suffocating DLine. Not to take anything away from the SMU offense of course, they really should have put up 55 on us. Clearly the best team in the conference, and as a Tulane fan, I was dreading this matchup since I saw SMU put up 55 on Tulsa in the first half about a month or so ago. I knew Memphis and UTSA would be tough, but I knew SMU was unwinnable. Once I saw Stone got injured, I thought we'd have a chance, which our defense played to make happen with the three turnovers and forcing 5 FG attempts instead of TDs, but our offense was clearly outclassed.

I just didn’t understand how an 11-1 team could be so easily man handled in the trenches on both sides and completely unable to run with our receivers and backs with a RS freshman leading the game in his first start.. ole miss had an off day… you still lost by 17 at home

@@TimothyHolt-vh2hd well yes, he was sacked 6 or 7 times. Some we were instant when the DE or DT shoved our RG right into his lap at the snap. And others were after 4-5 seconds when he wanted to scramble but the pocket collapsed. So yeah, our inexperienced WRs couldn't get open either. I feel like that's what I was saying in the first place.

Congratulations SMU. Special shoutout to coach Lashley. Hated to see him leave Miami, but happy for his deserved success.

Young man did OK, open eyes and looked hard for opportunities. Good runs, but a couple of bad throws. But imagine, a freshman. He was in high school just 6 months ago. We were at the Charlotte game and Preson Stone was awesome, running the offense without huddles. Def would have been different but great game.

@@mike36dc the backup did not too bad but he gave Tulane 7 free points at the start and threw for 2 interceptions. Smus defense absolutely shut Tulane down the rest of the game so that’s why I said 41-7 if stone plays

@@ryanamburgy2791 It looks like you were right. They chose Liberty to represent the Group of 5 this year, as they will play against Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl. SMU on the other hand, will get a taste of playing in the ACC, as they will play Boston College in the Fenway Bowl.

Tulane really laid an egg today. Held to 14 points, losing to a backup freshman QB. I think they just underestimated SMU and thought they should roll them. Congrats to the Mustangs on being the AAC champs! However, I would still put Liberty in as the non power 5 school to play in a new years six bowl game

SMU ended the year as the #11 best defense in all of college football (via sports reference) and finished just behind teams like Oregon, Georgia, Notre Dame. Average is not the right description of that team 😂
