This accent training video is an in-depth lesson on the American R and L sounds. Are you learning English? Are you feeling fluent but ready to improve your pronunciation and comprehension? Great! This video (and my entire channel!) is perfect for you. This accent training tutorial uses a comparison of the R and L sounds to fine-tune your pronunciation. You’ll get up-close images and detailed descriptions of the way Americans say R. What an amazing class! I’ve been learning English for over 20 years. In just this lesson I have learned so much about how to pronounce words I thought I had down. LOL I didn’t, but now I do. Actually, you can hold out the rolling R that you mentioned, and in some languages, it can be considered a "helping" vowel in certain situations. The American R on the other hand CAN NOT be held for long at all.

I'm from Tucumán, an Argentine northwestern province, and we have this R in our dialect. It replaces the double r or "erre".

Hello Rachel ! I have the particularity to mimic almost every sounds of languages I know and others too with or without accent. It's a question of practice, ear and mimics. The sound you produce is different from the inner sound you feel and hear at the same time. Most of people use the sounds of their mother language to try to speak another language. I noticed that every language is made of sounds and intonations that are different from other languages. Phil, Belgium. Peace.
