America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on Getting the Cheer Treatment (Exclusive)

Ойын-сауық

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders weigh in on getting the 'Cheer' treatment! Kelcey Wetterberg, Reece Allman and Victoria Kalina, along with coaches Kelli Finglass and Judy Trammel, chat with ET's Brice Sander about their docuseries, 'America's Sweethearts.' The show is already drawing comparisons to the hit Netflix docuseries, 'Cheer,' and Victoria says the team is 'ready' for a similar worldwide audience. Plus, Kelli addresses the body image conversations that surrounded the original series, 'Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Cut,' confirming they 'don't weigh' the cheerleaders anymore.

They did her dirty. Yes, she has a lot of stress in her life and mental health issues but has worked a lot in the background to coach rookies in her free time and does a lot of volunteer work. She should have some type of official mentor role to recognize her efforts.

@@AlyviaAshley I’m no psychologist but it seems she’s a people-pleaser who seeks external validation from others and doesn’t want to let anyone down - hence her struggle between resigning and staying for her final year (she didn’t want to give up and disappoint anyone). It seemed to me that she struggled more with mental health and people-pleasing after her father passed away. I think DCC would have been wise to appoint a veteran mentor for the rookies to help them settle in, give them some tips, and just be a sounding board - Victoria would have excelled in this type of role being that she did a lot of these tasks from the goodness of her heart anyway. And she was a real role model when she went to see the DCC bus driver in the hospital (who had a heart issue or stroke) and Kelli was there to see Victoria step up but didn’t reward her later as a “leader.” Kelli acts like an HR person who smiles at your face and expects you to step up then stabs you in the back and refuses to promote.

I feel like this Netflix series was to show Kelly in a better light than the actual series. Kelly showed her true colors when Sophie was inappropriately touched. Her response to Judy when she said she was talking to the police was “she’s talking to the right people” it wasn’t until she was told that it was a camera man that she got off her ass to see what was actually happening and offered support to Sophie. And sorry but Charlotte, who I actually used to like, speaking about how great these girls are while paying them absolute shit is incomprehensible.

These ladies work way too hard and bring too much publicity to the Dallas Cowboys to not have their moment on the field or at least on the big screen. I disagree, there's so much prestige that comes with it. If you plan a future in dance, modelling or entertainment, it's highly beneficial to your career. Most behind-the-scenes NFL cheerleading staff are former cheerleaders themselves so there's potential for a full-time career. Both Kelly and Judy own their lucrative gigs to NFL cheerleading. They get free meals, meet and greats with celebrities or organizations like cir du Solier, free trips around the world for the show group or calendar shoots. It doesn't seem like such a bad deal to me.

It’s not a family, it’s a business and they don’t pay them fairly. They brainwash them into thinking they are fulfilling a purpose and then give them body image issues. These are some amazing ladies. It is crazy that it is other women that perpetuate this instead of fight for at least giving them fair wages.

I didn't expect to love and admire the show as much as I did. It would be great to watch future seasons. I just wanna know, when are these women going to get paid REAL money?!? I get that they are not the main attraction over the pro football players, but being a DCC and giving up so much of your time without being fairly compensated is also outdated. I can barely get out of bed, do my morning routine to try to look cute, work out and complete a full day of work without wanting to pass out and the DCC do so much more than that!! The DCC work full time jobs or go to school full time and they manage to carve out so much time to fulfill their obligations to the DCC organization. It's real HARD work that demands sacrifice at a very high-performance level. Bottom line, people deserve to be paid for work and performing with celebrities and traveling is NOT going to pay the bills. Unfortunately, the show did not make it seems like these girls are landing top paying executive jobs because they have DCC on their resumes. What annoys me the most is that the franchise makes money off of these ladies and has a female decision maker at the top... so essentially, it's a female not paying other hard-working females or not even lobbying for the DCC ladies to get compensated fairly for being amazing athletes. What a shame!

I grew up in Central Texas and on the high school drill (dance) team. We had the DCC come to our high school for summer camps and teach us routines and of course the kick line and jump split. I am now 52 and can definitely tell you, knee and hip pain is real. Any drill team or dance team member who grew up in Texas will know what I mean.

From a legal standpoint, I don't understand how they plan to enforce a contract with their cheerleaders that has a weight requirement if they are no longer weighing the cheerleaders. Are these women on the honor system or is the organization going to start allowing plus size cheerleaders to audition.

Im sorry but I don't want kelcey as a nurse. No offense but I just don't (unless it's her passion). She's truly blessed with beauty, talent, work ethic, she needs to be in the entertainment industry in some capacity. Someone else can be nurse. Sorry but that would be a waste of great talent.

For everyone commenting on their pay … they know what they’re doing signing up. These girls are selling themselves. Their real meal ticket and end game is fame and bagging a rich pro player. Let’s be real 😂 Maybe Reece is the exception.
