America's Got Talent 2014 Adrian Romoff 9 yo Prodigy Pianist

Adrian is a 9 year old student, highly talented child with an amazing personality. He skipped 5 grades to be now in grade 8 going next year on grade 10
Adrian Romoff expresses his emotions with music as you can clearly see in the above video clip. The impressive quote from Adrian tonight was when asked if he was "That smart" (to skip so many grades) by Heidi Klum, he had a quick retort and said "According to reality, yes."
Adrian Romoff is from Atlanta, Georgia. Adrian first showed interest in strings at 2 1/2. Adrian began studying piano in earnest at 4 1/2, and his mother Olga Romoff has been his primary teacher. Previous attempts at working with an outside piano teacher were not as successful, said Ms. Romoff, noting Adrian was working through two and three books a week. At age 7, Adrian appeared on national television, charming Ellen DeGeneres in an interview.
Informed he was already in eighth grade, Heidi Klum from AGT asked, "You're that smart?"
"According to reality, yes," Adrian replied, matter-of-factly.
Adrian, 9, and precocious as they come, spent the first six years of his young life in Pittsburgh and now lives in Atlanta with his mother, Olga. His is a name well-known in these parts; uncle, Jeffrey, is president and CEO of UPMC.

    If he's a 9 year old in 8th grade, I might as well have graduated from college and medical school with a GPA of 4, and be a fully-fledged neurosurgeon by age 20.

    +thebenna beast I don't mean to offend you but you clearly know nothing about piano. And you clearly wanna show off by saying I can play la Campanella since there was no point of putting that in the context in the first place. The difficulty of a piece is not defined by how technical it is, but rather how you approach the piece and bring it out. Missing one or two notes is fine as long as it's not like this guy. Calling flight of the bumblebee easy is also just disrespectful. Just because you can play it doesn't mean you can play it well.

  • @channingchu3525

    @channingchu3525

    8 жыл бұрын

    +thebenna beast if you call any piece beyond grade 4 easy, you are not good. I think with my previous comment I explained well. A pieces difficulty is not defined from its technical skills. It's rather defined by how the pianist finds the art inside it. You cannot call a piece easy or hard. Even if you can play la Campanella, it doesn't mean you are good. Most pieces can be playable with time. But bringing out the art that resides, is what good pianist does rather than showing off his technical skills. That is probably why Chopin was more popular than Liszt.

  • @chrisbenna506

    @chrisbenna506

    8 жыл бұрын

    channing chu I agree with you. To bring out a pieces emotion like the great chopin heroic or polonaise or something like moonlight sonata is more difficult than playing a liszt etude like a robot. The only thing is I believe that technical difficulty and artistic difficulty are in two completely different categories. So instead of saying moonlight sonatas artistic challenge is harder than mazeppas technical challenge, you would say moonlight sonata's artistic challenge is harder than mazeppas, but mazeppa's technical challenge is more difficult than moonlight sonatas. Both are right. As far as me saying flight of the bumblebee is easy I am speaking as of technical. I've practiced many pieces like mazeppa. or wild jagdt, that are much more difficult than flight of the bumblebee. Also I think the emotion in flight of the bumblebee is not very difficult to achieve. I believe there are pieces that are infinitely artistically challenging than flight off the bumblebee. For example when I play La Campanella I try my best to accent the piece perfectly and make sure that it sounds like a little bell constantly hitting the d sharp up top. I think flight of the bumblebee is so fast that the emotion comes natural. You may disagree with me but I respect your opinion

    He isn’t smart simply because has the patience to practice those songs which are relatively easy. I’m fact he played simplified versions of Flight Of The Bumblebee and Grande Valse Brilliante. But I could play Turkish March when I was 10. Does that mean I was smarter than most high schoolers in America? What an absurd claim to make. I wasn’t smarter than most high schoolers at age ten but I know I was definitely smarter than you.

    Daniel Ordonez Flight of the Bumblebee is a very classic music to play for a pianist to show that u have skill to a random crowd. Because #1: even if u dont know the title, it's very famous for being used in alot of action, speed, and chase scene stuff in movies and cartoons like looney toons, so most people have heard of it. #2: It's a really hard and face paced Piano solo, even if u are not a music expert, u can tell the person is talented if they pull it off, especially since it'll sound very off key if u misplay it to boot. This is not the first time I've seen a child Prodigy play this piece in a Got Talent show.
