America's Biggest Presidential Library, plus Brunch at Benchmark

Today's adventure makes good on our promise to expand our channel to a little bit more travel and history - we're hitting both goals with this one! First, we are off to Santa Ana, California, and brunch at the awarded backyard cafe called Benchmark. Then, we're heading north to Simi Valley, and the biggest of America's Presidential Libraries, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library & Museum. It's a wonder, more than 150,000 square feet of history, artifacts, memorabilia, and the actual Air Force One that served 7 Presidents! This is a can't-miss if you're up for a big dose of Americana.
The Reagan Library segment begins at 6:00

That library is so beautiful. We are all Reagan fans in my family and were there with my parents over 10 years ago and loved it. What a beautiful setting. The tour of the airplane was fantastic and I love how they have it sitting pointing out the big windows almost like it's taking off. Great video. Thank you for taking us back there again. And my goodness the Benchmark looks like a great place to go. Stay well!

There are so many museums and historic places in this country. I used to go to the Capital court houses on my layovers when United had a advertising campaign that they flew to all 50 states Capitals. You can learn so much about the state when you visit the Capital buildings. Nice visit to California. Loved seeing the Reagan Library.

I would love to visit the Ronald Reagan Library. What a man....What a life! I was heading back to my apartment from class at Marshall University and stopped into one of my friends for a quick visit. I walked in the door and he and others were gathered around the tv - it was then I found out Reagan had been shot. I'll never forget that day. He was one tough guy. That is such a nice tour. Wow...O'Frarrell's pub...so neat. That is a beautiful setting. I enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing!

About 30 years ago, I went to the Bel-Air hotel on Stone Canyon road in Los Angeles to walk the beautiful grounds, and see their famous swans. As I was walking across the bridge, I saw an elderly, quite thin, impeccably dressed woman walking with a man….it was Nancy Reagan! She met another woman I didn’t recognize, but asked my friend, who said it was Betsy Bloomingdale, of the Bloomingdale department stores! Apparently they went there a lot for lunch, the Reagan’s lived on Bel-Air road.

BTW, just north of Benchmark, behind the Bowers Museum, is a section of historic neighborhood called Floral Park. They do tours every April, I went last year and loved it as you get to go into a dozen or so homes, vintage car show, food, etc.
