    +nicolas suhr saying America is the greatest nation in the world is not meant to be an insult. it's not meant to insult other cultures and pride that other people around the world may have. it's just a reality. look at how many people risk their lives just to try to get here. show me somewhere else on earth where that happens.

    Well said but there is a mistake at the end.... "no more" - shouldn't be there.... (as if it ever has been -if so, when.... ???). As someone who met hundreds of Americans and at least as many Russians, they both think they were some time the greatest in the world.... both categories are just brainwashed and suffer of imperial paranoia. Among the ones I met, I cannot forget a blind, retired college professor (American >80 years old) who told me that he is ashamed of being American when considering the Yalta/Malta deals and some other deals. How right and realistic that man was. Watch some of Noam Chomsky clips or read some of his articles to see more reasons why America is/was far from being the greatest Country. Next time when you want to know something about yourself (weather you are American, Russian, Swiss, Belgian etc.) take a moment to ask some people from outside and consider their points.... can help you to clean the mirror and see more of the reality! As the shamefull inside figures - mentioned - say - America is not and was never the Greatest in the World. If you add others people opinions - ask some native Americans, Palestinians, Iraqis, Syrians, Libyans, Egyptians, Indians, Russians, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Vietnamese, south(central)-Americans, east-Europeans, Germans, Canadians, Swiss etc, etc.

    But in the past, even though they were very strong, they still couldn't beat Vietnam. And the destructive skills are not used to state that country is strong or not. I admit that USA is a strong and powerful country but beside, in my opinion,Japan is a very strong and admirable country as well.

    First step is to know your country name well, it's united states of america. America is whole continent, see a map and that includes mexico brazil and more. And yes, it is not best country. A good country doesn't kill its own citizens faking to be under attack, to excuse attack some other poor place to leave them even worse. Strategy you are using to control the world, doesn't show humansense, buying few leaders to keep them in your side but keeping all country in poverty isn't correct. I can help a lot explaining, bcause i live in that poverty.

    +Alex Ravelo And when did the USA attack itself?

  • @AnthonyLPD

    @AnthonyLPD

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Alex Gonzalez Your first step might be to look into a mirror before attacking someone, then you could learn grammar. United States of America is a proper noun, and therefore should be capitalized as shown. Paying attention to context clues, setting, and common regional understandings will help with understanding movies, books, and scenes from a series such as this. The interview is obviously being held in the USA, often known as America in many regions. The continent you write about is actually two continents. They are commonly referred to as North America and South America. I hope you will find the opportunity to rise out of poverty, as I did, through hard work and perseverance.

    Christopher Shanahan America is no melting pot. It's a salad. You mix them but they don't blend. They remain separated. I doubt there's many "melting pots" in the world.

  • @chriss4204

    @chriss4204

    death4hiro It's that separation and cultural differences that skews statistics. You can't say that a country like Norway ranks above the US in many attributes such as education and healthcare because they don't have a very diverse population. Immigration policies and laws for instance in the United States, may tie up resources that might be available in a country less diverse with little to no immigration. It's like trying to compare Sugar Ray Leonard to Muhammad Ali, both were great in their respective weight classes however they couldn't fight head to head because both fighters would fight differently if put in either ones weight class.

  • @death4hiro

    @death4hiro

    9 жыл бұрын

    Christopher Shanahan Sorry if I got a wrong message across, just saying that there are two terms in describing countries with a variety of races. Melting pot would be an ideal conditions where races mix, and racial harmony, and so on. On the other hand, the salad bowl refers to a mix of cultures but not necessarily integrated. Furthering your point on financial losses due to immigration policies and laws, there are other ways in dealing with a mix of races. Education and residential planning for example. Sure, the effects wouldn't be felt immediately but over time things do get better with the aid of proper policies according to prevailing circumstance. We probably wouldn't see a melting pot, but at least racial and cultural difference tolerance would be better. And of course, each country to its own problems and situation. The government just tries their best to work within those boundaries. Some better than others of course.
