Ameeta was known to be producer Tolaram Jalan's protege, and by that you know what I mean. Dev Anand refused to work with her in Tumsa Nahin Dekha and wanted the makers to cast a better actress like Vyajanthimala, but obviously Jalan was insistent, so Dev made way for Shammi Kapoor and Ameeta's career graph soared. As such, she can have little complaints when it ended.

just goes to show that if luck is not on your side, then even God cannot help you. She acted with top notch actors in top notch films yet her career never really took off. She got stuck in secondary roles towards the latter part of her career

Nothing to do with luck - she is ok as an actress, not great But the problem was her height - a bit short and she did not keep her figure and so being so short even a bit extra weight made her look bigger. In those days heroines or even today, danced around trees or whatever and she does not look good doing that

Sadly, Ameeta Ji's talent didn't get due recognition. The success of "गूँज उठी शहनाई" that raised Rajendra Kumar's career to stardom, didn't at all help her career. It is a bitter pill to swallow. Rajesh Khanna had a huge ego and a vindictive streak. There are numerous anecdotes of his mean and sadistic shannanigans. Ending Sabiha's career at his hands was inevitable. Perhaps it is time to edit the proverb: "Hell hath no fury like a MAN scorned!"
