amd has driver level framegen that doesnt even work unless you have 60 fps at least. it artifacts a lot and theree is no amd anti lag. nvidia locks it to the 40 series bc its hardware accelerated, not driver level.

​@@Pacho18No. The GRE came out half a year ago as a Chinese special GPU. It was never supposed to be released outside of China. It stands for "Golden Rabbit Edition" because 2023 was a the year of the rabbit in China.

Sony has sold millions and millions of PS4s and PS5s and Microsoft isn't doing as well but as sold enough Xbox One's and Series X/S to be OK. All of those consoles have AMD CPUs and GPUs in them. The best selling GPUs on Amazon and Newegg have AMD on that list. The best selling GPU lately has been AMDs RX 7800XT. Intel also exists and has the cheapest 16GB graphics card on the market. Most people aren't spending $700+ on a GPU so they're buying AMD and Intel's cheaper options or Nvidia's older cards.

VRAM capacity has a quality attached to it tho. E.g the GTX 1660 only had 6gb of VRAM but it was better than AMD RX570 8gb. AMD always offered lot of VRAM but that doesn't make the cards better because usually they optimize it better in the nvidia side

I let 20 years with NVIDIA behind me for a RX 7900 XT Saphire Pulse, best move of my life.

650 USD in my place, I can buy: 1. Sapphire Nitro + 7900 GRE 2. Asus dual 4070 Super What should I buy? There might be some rendering work in near future but 90% should be for gaming.

I was thrilled to see GRE go out of China because even in the Asian region. I can't find anything online selling it , heck it's also hard to find in Aliexpress and Alibaba and other Chinese Ecom site. It's also funny that 7900gre is just shy away of 9% from being on par with 4070ti Sup according to Techpowerup while also being power efficient. Rated tdp is 260w vs 285 of 4070ti super. At that point you have to be a creator who uses apps optimized for nvidia , uses Ai stuff and someone just addicted to Ray Tracing

TDP in this generation doesn't mean anything and AMD GPU is still good for 1080p and 2k gaming but when it comes to FSR and frame gen, it's still trash compared to nvidia and even RT but if you're a pure gamer Basically, AMD is the best and always will be, but it's still nvidia for work and the upgrade technology is the same.

@@MoltenPie no kiddin, I upgraded from GTX 1070 to RX 6600XT, I'm daily driving linux so windows + ROCm mess is completely avoided. But damn, I felt like I downgraded instead. RX 7900XT I borrowed from the office is sure faster but felt like doing a brute force job instead of doing it right.

I like AMD, but this is actually a fail for them. The 7900 GRE trades blows with the 7800XT but currently costs $50 more. It's the same scenario we saw with the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3060TI. What's worse is that the thing holding the 7900GRE back is the memory bus running 8% slower than the 7800XT AND AMD crippled memory overclocking by setting a cap of 3% over stock so you can't just crank it up.

$50 premium means less VRAM. Also never used any of these options, except for DLSS on a laptop 3080ti 125W for reaching rock solid 4K60 on some AAA games on my Gigabyte AERO. Except for that concrete case, i give a damn for these sw "features". The $50 premium goes for these, which i don't care nor use. I prefer more VRAM.

FSR that's available in a wide range of AMD GPU's instead of just few of the expensive ones (60 fps in CP2077 on 4gbRX570, FSR3.0 my beloved) And raytracing is literally a nothing burger until you actually look for it

as someone who just upgrade to a 6600xt, i am quite pleased with the card .. getting about 60% performance increase over my old 1660 super but consuming about the same power, while being significantly cheaper than the 3060

0:47 Its ironic that they don't use its main advantage being DLSS in a game that has DLSS. That still doesn't mean I'm going to recommend it over the AMD card though since most games don't use DLSS.

@@Pacho18 i don't mean it is bad card - but this whole gen feels like a downhill slop compared to RX 6000 :/ "yay we have 7900" that fights mostly 70 series from Nvidia or 80 series (in case of XTX) while previously when we had RTX 3000 vs RX 6000, you could go with RX 6900 XT and comparing it to RTX 3090, outside of RT... you haven't missed that much just look at 6600 or 6700 - how those cards literary mop the floor with their RTX equivalents I just feel disappointed with whole RX 7000 generation

Nvidia pricing is just redonkulously out of whack for what it offers, for my own needs. Even 3060 was such a massive price increase, couldn't justify it man. RT is a joke imo for hardware demand vs what it offers visually, I don't care about DLSS (still 1080p here) I don't care about AMD, intel or nvid, only care about a half decent product that fills my needs as a consumer, paying for it and feeling like I didn't just get taken to the cleaners..

These chips are the ones that "didn't make the cut" to be a 7900 XT, intended for the Chinese market. The other reviewers got one that is between a 4070 ($530) and a 4070 "SUPER" ($600). And this one at $550 is useless. It doesn't change the needle at all. ​@@thisguy3500Value is personal, prices are universal. How highly you value something is your personal matter, so don't get too surprised when stuff doesn't tend to be priced the way you think it should be.

Keep in mind it also has 16 GB of VRAM and 256 Bit bus so no memory bandwidth bottleneck issues are gonna be present.

@@GewelReal I meant compared to 4070. The 4070 is really slower in tasks that are heavy on memory bandwidth withs it 192 bit bus like in emulators. The 7900 GRE doesn't have that problem. Of course, it needs more infinity cache or bus to feed to cores tho.

@prem3548 Yeah, the 4070 super has no issues running rpcs3 games at 4k. Not sure where you're seeing problems with a 4070 super? Are we just making stuff up now? RCPS3 is a cpu bound emulators like most are. It's not hitting gpu memory bandwidth limits lmfao. It barely uses my 4070 super, haha.

Yeah, no. According to every real review I can find, the 4070 super and 7900 GRE are neck and neck until you turn on RT. The GRE is too hampered by its memory bus and speed.

@@Axeiaathe reviews even states that the supers cost is in blowing the other gpus out of the water with DLSS and RT enabled, where the Super will still get stable frame rates while the other gpus will be bottlenecking do to the graphical load

@@theguardianwolf7206 so with two big caveats, the title must support DLSS and raytracing. And uhh you must love these features yourself, I personally still prefer native Res and rarely find raytracing worth the performance penalty.

But is it as good for video editing with Davinci for example? This is the only thing stopping me from buying any amd gpu.

The more recent high end consumer AMD GPU's such as 7900 XTX do actually quite well in this area. Look up some reviews. In general the XTX does as well, sometimes beating, the RTX 4080 in Davinci Resolve.

I got my 3070 out of a pre built so I didn’t worry about scalping

I'm more concerned about power draw and temperatures, that's why I went with a RX 6800 non-XT as my upgrade from the gtx 1080.

RX 6800 with undervolt to around 900mV is a great performance to power draw ratio. I've also got a RX 6800 myself and it's quite a decent GPU for 1440p!

This isn't really true. The 4070 Super either ties or beats the 7900GRE in framerates across games and in Ray Tracing + DLSS the 4070 is better looking and slightly better frame rates. So, these are comparable cards with Nvidia looking better with DLSS.

Lol, I really don't get the point about fanboying over GPU brands. I will get back to NVIDIA as soon as they offer something, maybe next gen or the one after that. So far AMD has been funky with their drivers when fiddling, but once set up, I just launch my games and they work perfectly

@reboundtmp8066 in upcoming ue5 games the performance hit will be much less than before on normal ray tracing Only path Tracing will do a much fps cut because it's still new technology and not very optimized yet , From what I heard on Nvidia graphics cards and the advanced rt cores the loss in fps gonna be only 20% also besides of that We playing AAA story games to enjoy the overall game with all the sides Ray tracing will make you're overall experience much better + single player games need between 30 and 60 fps with some dlss quality you can reach even more , But if you only fps games player and a competitive guy then you don't have to worry about that because ray tracing only for people who like the best visual experience and always playing at maxed game settings with everything on like me

They do beat Nvidia in non RT sure. But Nvidia is way ahead in RT. Depends what you prefer RT or not.

And 4070 super is like a fucking 3090 with 12 gigs stolen of it.

The fact that I spent half of 2,000 for a similar price of a used old car for a gpu is a crime. Modern gpu companies have completely ruined pc gaming.

Glad to read this. I just ordered the 4070 Super yesterday and if I didn't care about RT, I would of just stuck with my 2060 Super. The only games the 2060 Super even struggles are ARE games with RT, so buying an AMD card didn't make any sense.

Nvidia RT technologies were available since 2000 series and as an owner of a RTX 2060S, can say i'd never take any advantage of using these, bc even if wanted to, perf couldn't allow me to play with these. Not everyone owns a 4090 dude, there're some people that we just want to play games with an acceptable performance and nothing more. Shitting on one company and loving other is what they want from you.

@@Pacho18Idk man, if you use your computer to just play games, why not buying a console instead? I have an AMD card myself, because it was cheap af, I am pretty satisfied with it (RX 580). But my next card will be NVIDIA because literally anything is better there. RT performance, rendering performance, AI generation performance, 3D programs performance - it's all miles better. Just a better product overall
