I related to this story. I Became an EMT at 40 for 6 years. One of the hardest things I ever did but I'm so glad I did it. You got to do what you feel you got to do. It's a hard job so be thankful for your EMTs out there.

My brother was one in the Vietnam War and came back & stayed an EMT/LVN for the military even after war till he retired at 67. I miss him hope we have time together. xo

Thank you for your service 🙏 ❤️ My life was saved 27 years ago because embulence got me to the closest hospital on time when I involved serious car wreck! Though I passed out 7 days but I was life! 😂 I am thankful everyday for all of you Americans gave me a 2nd life! 💞

Much the same timing for me: joined at age 40, in for 7+ years as a firefighter-EMT (and company officer). Could never do it again, but am eternally grateful for the experience! And I always tell people Volunteer companies train at the same level as professionals, and commonly provide a year or two of experience before one applies for a paid position.

I can't tell you how good it feels to watch a show and not cringe through it with sex scenes and swearing. I can actually show my kids this.

@@tia904 I think her comment ment 95% of movies these days are filled with sex, swearing and brutal violence. This movie was about someone struggling stay afloat when life gets too comfortable. When you hit a certain age, things seem to be more important than some, but love, now that's something to watch, the raw emotions, the sincerity of it all, being allowed to try something new. Kathy bates became her own person. That feels wonderful. We all know that being an emt isn't a glorious career, but think of the love they give to the ones they are trying to save. I think that's the most important part of this movie. Being who you want to be. Writing books and traveling or saving lives. I choose saving lives. Blessings and prayers to you and yours 💜✨️🙏🕊🙏✨️💜

Kathy Bated had an amazing role and well directed by her! Heart felt touching on a wide range of topics and issues we all can relate to one way or another. Kudos to all the actors❤️. I mean, as a friend, and fellow citizen, I have helped a lot of people help themselves to avoid suiciding, get to hospital, etc., as most people would, but it sounds like you do this on a regular basis, so I assume it's profession -based for you. Unless you are saying that by attempting to convert vulnerable people to your belief system you are professing to save them. As I wrote in my previous comment, I hope you are actually providing practical support to the people who need it. Stating proudly in comments that you 'save lives' is a big claim. That's why I am harping on about it.

My biggest take-away from this wonderful movie was her final line, "Fear is like a hologram, full of substance; but when you go thru it, it was all just an illusion."

​​​@@stevenavarette9334Athiest here. I am pretty sure it's not possible to help other people's spirits. If you are religious, isn't that up to your God? There are plenty of people in need of practical support like food, housing, emotional support, etc. I hope you are able to make a practical difference to help people stay alive, and/or provide them with resources so they may be in a position to make choices, and find their own quality of life. People don't need lessons when they are at the bottom of a well, they need practical to find a way up, and out.

I could never be in a relationship with an alcoholic. Nothing she did suited him. Good for her, making her new career. Kathy Bates, a great performer.

What I thought, too. What a big baby, she does her own thing and he has a fit, and says the most denigrating things.

Kathy Bates is my most favourite actor. I love this woman !. As a retired Police Officer, you can never make provision for what life throws at you and I salute all the first responders that work tirelessly for their communities.

Wonderful story which shines a light on the teamwork, dedication, and hardships of those EMT volunteers who help the firefighters in responding to emergency calls. Kathy Bates as Jane is a terrific actress along with the directing of this movie. The message of overcoming our fears by helping others takes our mind off ourselves as we think of their needs is excellent.

What a pleasant surprise! I was not surprised by the implosion of their marriage after he got sober and she found something new to do for herself. So often couples split after one gets sober, or if one joins Al-Anon. The shift in dynamics can be too great. This was really a gem.

Really good movie!!!! I read the other day that "everything you want in life is on the other side of fear". I wish I had known that a long time ago.

Loved this author’s book......I wrote to her and she wrote back ! She is something special.....

Love Kathy Bates in any role she portrayed. This one made me laughed so hard that I have tears running down my cheeks Hilarious 😂😊

​​@@jwilcox4726I wasn't keen on Kathy Bates celebrating her marijuana use, presumably to be 'down with the kids' , on Stephen Colbert's show a few years ago. But she has the intelligence (other than that occasion) and heart which makes her a great actor, and seemingly a lovely person. Personally, I don't believe God has anything to do with it, as I am an atheist, and I don't know if Kathy Bates is religious.

I just love Kathy's personality. She could make a great best friend, and she's a wonderful actress.

Bates is an incredibly talented actor. She carries almost everything she's in. Really enjoyed the show

I was a child when the movie Posidien adventure came put in the 70s & Shelley Winters was In it .. not Kathy Bates, she wasn't even around yet.

I enjoyed this so much, I didn’t want it to end. All the actors were good. Kathy Bates never lets the audience down. I always enjoy her work. Great actress.

Excellent movie. And refreshing to see a story of a couple who decided their relationship was worth fighting for. Worth saving instead of giving up when life became painful and *seemingly unfixable.

I always love Kathy Bates' Movies. This one had me laughing and crying. The end, fear is just an illusion, is a very good lesson for these times.

Reminds us all how age does not prohibit us from new careers, adventures and still having lots of valuable life skills to learn. It was an inspiring movie.

Heartfelt story of life challenges and the love, patience, and perseverance that hold people together. Kathy Bates is exceptional as always and the chemistry of the leads is really good ! You'll enjoy it !

Absolutely adored this movie!! Didn’t even know this movie existed!! I love Kathy Bates & the gentleman who played her husband, Michael, and their wonderful friend, who had the stroke!! And the fire, chief and the woman who was an EMT with her!! Etc.! Lots of wonderful characters and actors in this movie!! Especially love the marriage and relationship between Kathy, not remembering, her character’s name, and her husband, Michael!!!! oh, and I loved it when she was in the ambulance for that thirtyish, young woman who is dying… And Kathy sang an old spiritual I guess it was to her! ❤️🤘👍🤗✋🙏😁😇✝️😘😜

She should have won that Emmy as an actress and director! She's fabulous, she is a rare talent that I've not seen one thing she's been in and didn't like it. She casted this movie well.

I almost passed this up till I saw that Kathy Bates is in it. That's all you need to make a movie good!!! This movie isn't one of my faves. But KB does a great job. This movie is cute and funny. Moved a little slow but I'm glad I watched it!!

Best hr and 27 mins ive spent all week..Kathy Bates never fails to deliver. Great story .❤️

loved her in fried green tomatoes, titanic and a place of our own. she is right about fear sometimes we blow it up in our own minds (I have done this due to anxiety and depression) and if you face your fears to the extent you can it fades away as you realize the imagined harm was not real. but then you have to remember some fears are legit, so finding that balance is a challenge for sure.

Yes a point so relevant to the present. Fear. One of the most prevalent mind control nuisances. So yes to tackle it head on and walk through it certainly most certainly makes it vanish and makes you grow. That was the best line for me there at the end.

Liked this but it was a bit unrealistic. Seems that their marriage could have been enriched by a couple of kids so they weren’t fixated always on themselves . (Kids have a way of helping us forget about ourselves and not our careers) as an EMT, she starred as a strong woman, with fears. We all have them but we don’t all zero in on our own feelings and emotions…and let them rule us.

I like all Kathy Bates' films, she is real actress 😍✨️

It's a scary thing to change your life after years of comfort, of having the good life with one person, not taking any dangerous chances, to care for people at their worst..But it takes courage and strength to see it through and accomplish what you set out to do..and she did..❤

I'm getting older now Kathy Bates, has always been my gal, what a woman. Love you so much, you are beautiful inside and outside. Weather in the box or out. I have always loved you. Jeanie.

Great movie I can relate to this movie hits so close to home. I started in 1998 in a volunteer fire department has a new husband and father to a baby girl. 22 years later I'm retired fire chief of the same department no longer married . I can't put all blame on the fire department life but was part of the ending of my marriage. Some many couples one partner doesn't understand or can handle their partner passion for that line of work. It also applies to cops too .But I still have my baby girl which has given me so far three beautiful granddaughters to enjoy also has out did her dad by getting her LPN

Yes, the toll on marriages is certainly noteworthy. Mine and a number of others in our 60 member rural volunteer department seemed somehow... inevitable, sad to say.

Excellent movie. Tear jerker at the end. Kathy Bates has always been in movies which you learn something from. The movie was kinda slow but the comedy made up for it.

This couple of actors look terrific together. It is nice to see how they workout their relationship. Not easy to understand our own feelings and changes in the aging process. I enjoy the movie, thanks for sharing.

She's so cute in this role, rediscovering her Towanda side (Fried Green Tomatoes). All wide eyed and beaming joy. Bates really knows how to light up a room. Amazing actress.

I related to this story because my husband got Covid in December 1922 and I had to call the ambulance to get him to the hospital for treatment. The EMTs who came to her house, along with first responders and the fire department all these other volunteers that came in, took such kind and respectful care of it was remarkable .They were so good to him, getting him into i the ambulance and a safe trip to the hospital. One of the guys even shoveled the deck because I was unableto lift the enormous amount of sticky snow for a path. I can’t think these people enough and so when Kathy Bates was working with the same type of people, in, she demonstrared the same attitude and skills. Unfortunately, my husband succumbed to Covid= pneumonia, but I will tell her forget this type of people, and Kathy Bates really demonstrated what they go through and how they really care. This was a great film and her husband in the film played a great part Also a call.

So sorry for your loss, I lost my son in 2022. Such heartbreak!. Your strength shines through. We have a lot of hospital experiences, I thank God for Doctors EMT workers and nurses thank God for them!! We have to keep them in our prayers ! It is a job I could never do!💖

Something is just making me want to tell you that your husband is watching out for you and he is going to help you through your obstacles.

....and, in this case, I believe The Honor was Kathy’s, as she portrayed this very memorable character so well here....Jane Stern’s book, of the same title, (love the name, dubbed affectionally by her horse man friend), was just so good and real. Her flowing writing style made it a breeze for us to relate and so enjoy her true sharing..........I’m so grateful this somehow popped up..... to remind me of how I have I enjoyed this gem of an auto-bio book - one of my favorite ! Thank You for this movie.

Love anything Kathy is in. Sich a great actress. This movie was so true to life. Sharing the ups and downs, trials of life and marriage. Thanks for this great movie.

Great Story with well done acting. Can't understand EMS or Firefighters being in a volunteer role - for all the professionalism required of them.

I know what you mean. BUT we do have volunteer soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen. Also volunteer policemen! At least, here in the UK, we do. 🇬🇧

@@Woodman-Spare-that-tree My cousin talked of having volunteer firemen fighting their kitchen fire on New Year's eve. My uncle waited at the door to let them in, but they bashed it in on arrival. Slightly inebriated state.

Wow! This movie is an absolute gem. A very relatable story indeed. I enjoyed how the story pulled on my heart strings ❤as well. I also liked being captivated by the analogy of fear being a hologram as it’s only an illusion 😊.I have to say for the first time ever I actually enjoyed the ad during this movie. I usually give a scowl look when an adult or commercial play during a movie. However, I seen a music video with John rich and Tom McDonald called the end of the world. Absolute gem as well. KZread I give you my 5 stars for this whole experience. 😊pulled on my heart strings then made my heat smile 😀 that’s considered a wonderful time indeed.

isn't it something though, when one changes themselves they want to be single again! weight loss, sobriety, financial gain, lottery win also, on and on!

Kathy is so good. She brings All the other Actors up with her. A mark of a true Actor.. Never upstages

My God. This is a great movie. God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind -2 Tim 1:7. This movie. Ugh. So great. Thank you for posting it.

This is one of my all time favorites!! I have it on DVD but, when it popped up in my feed I couldn't resist!! Thanks for sharing.

Kathy Bates can make everything watchable, she should charge more

I just cried and cried when Kathy sang "Trouble of the World" like Mahalia Jackson to the dying lady in the ambulence.
