    What I find mind-blowing in the United States is the fact that delivery people leave packages outside the door in plain sight of everyone without warning, no wonder why there are so many thefts. In Europe, they ring at your house, if you're not there, they leave with it and you have to go to the post office to pick it up, but they never leave the boxes on the landing.

    A few things: 1: Some people take extreme pride in their lawn, and do NOT want anyone walking on it, except themselves while mowing it. I don't get it, myself, but that's their business 2: Depending on how wet the ground might be, footprints can create ruts, or kill patches of grass. 3: Pet waste could be present. Generally should try to avoid stepping in it. 4: It's generally unprofessional. The walkway exists for a reason. YOU wouldn't mind them walking on the grass. But they don't know who you are. Always assume to stay off the grass. Always.

    @VenuM Sorry- maybe y'all grew up in fancy gated communities with homeowners associations or something, but where I grew up, lawns are made to be walked on, unless there's a sign asking folks not to, for various reasons. (like, for instance, seeded areas that need time to take root, as maybe that big yellow patch needs.) Also, where I grew up, people don't go around snidely remarking how much stupider and ruder they think everyone else is. Maybe we got our priorities wrong. So, you're saying, treat grass better, people worse. Gotcha.

  • @Johnnjlee

    @Johnnjlee

    3 жыл бұрын

    @VenuM places differ greatly in geography as well as customs. Some people used to live out in the country on farms and would never even consider a lawn as something that should be feather stepped around. Some people grew up in neighborhoods where playing in the lawn was the norm. It’s not about stupidity, it’s about ignorance of local customs and ideals. This is like setting an unspoken standard for other people to follow and giving them a stink eye for not knowing what it is. Besides, people all over this comment section are wondering about this unspoken rule as well, showing that not walking on the grass is not as common knowledge as you may think. Instead of being passive aggressive and blaming an entire generation for this ignorance, try educating them on the subject.

    ..and after throwing it through the window, the driver also breaks into the house from the shattered window, goes to the kitchen, opens the fridge takes all the sweet stuff, leaves the fridge door open, sees a cat, picks it up and locks it in the dish washer, goes to the bathroom, takes a dump in the sink, goes to the living room and takes some spare change as his well deserved tip, picks an axe from the garage, breaks the entrance door with it, throws the axe in the neighbor's mailbox, marks the delivery as completed, goes back in the car ( not his ofc ) and goes off...also becomes employee of the month

    In Romania, my country, they won't even deliver if you are not at home. They call once when the package is placed in a car to announce they will come that day and give an estimated hour, and then once 1 minute before they arrive, and someone must be there to take the delivery, give them a unique code and sign. If they don't find you home, they will take the package back to the deposit. Like, I really don't get how in America they just leave it unattended in the front of the door and leave... is not like America doesn't have theft.

    To be fair, it's either late autumn or early/late winter because the grass is dormant. Walking on it isn't going to hurt it. Unless it's a dozen times daily route, walking on grass even when it's not dormant won't harm anything. Walking through a flowerbed would be a different matter. As it is, even though they credit Amazon w/not walking on grass the second time, they actually did. They walked around the open delivery truck door And the mailbox, on the grass, to get over to the driveway. First full yard walkover and second partially grass walkover. FedEx on other hand only did few steps over yard corner between driveway & walkway. So Amazon was on more grass longer than Fed Ex. As for the packages, only one was delivered properly. They should have been carried up the steps and placed near the door. Not left on the top step, edge of the porch or tossed. Amazon gets C and FedEx gets D. Also, we are only told that is Amazon delivering. instead a contractor they hired. I can't make out any logos or signs on the truck to say who is doing the actual delivery. Even though the jacket the driver is wearing has the Amazon swoop, that still doesn't tell us if they are working for Amazon directly or contracted. If you are delivering for Amazon, then you should have Amazon sign/logo on the delivery vehicle. Every time I order from Amazon it comes thru services that are clearly identified as either UPS or USPS so you know who to contact/blame for shoddy handling. Then, because I can see both sides to the story, Amazon 'direct' delivery is only in select parts of the country and FedEx delivers all over, so Amazon has fewer packages daily to be delivered in a certain area. I'm sure that as Amazon expands their delivery quality will match FedEx. I believe FedEx drivers have a 'quota' of houses they need to deliver to per day and since management won't provide extra trucks/help, the drivers need to cut seconds where they can. I've only received a FedEx package once, that I know of, and it was delivered to the door. But I have a porch that is only slightly above ground level, so they had no steps to walk up. But I have seen other FedEx deliveries to neighbors & they were all taken to the door. Not excusing it, just explaining it. Frankly if I were running the company I would require two people per truck. Extra muscle for heavier packages, and one can keep truck running while other delivers smaller packages, saving time for stoppage and restart so they don't need to save seconds by tossing instead of placing. With two employees, one can have packages ready to go as soon as truck stops, instead of driver having to search for & get them out of truck. There's also safety in numbers for some of the 'iffier' areas. Having company and sharing the workload helps make time go faster, allowing most deliveries getting done when required. And would improve morale I think.

    It was the same FedEx driver. Also, it helps to have a well manicured yard if you want people to think you care about it. I personally feel that grass is 100% okay to walk on, apart from seeding times. I've never had any issues with Amazon, UPS or USPS. FedEx rarely delivers but never had any issues with them either.

    In India they first give you a call to confirm if you're at home then they will come to deliver your package even if they sometimes didn't call you they won't just leave the package unattended like that if you aren't at home they take it with them to deliver it next day if you still aren't there then you have to collect it yourself

    They dont get paid enough I feel like fedex is being a little too dramatic by throwing it on your doorstep but they should atleast care a little cause what if you order something and it arrives broken, how would you feel?

  • @garfieldsmith332
    @garfieldsmith3323 жыл бұрын

    It depends upon the driver. Fedex comes right to the door, rings the bell and hands me the parcel. During Covid they place it at the door sill and ring the doorbell. If no one is home the package is still put at the doorsill. Amazon puts it on my deck or at the door sill or in the mailbox if small enough. Drivers in Canada seem to be more careful and respectful.

    Let’s be honest. This is more about individual employees. Companies need to have higher standards. Anybody that can throw someone’s packages like this…clearly should not be doing the job. Even on your worst day, this should never be your instinct.

    I don't know about the math on your scoring system. Amazon looks like a total of +6 and one walking on the grass X in three visits. FedEx is a total of -3 and two walking on the grass X-es in two visits. How do you get "FedEx -2, Amazon +3" out of that?

    Put a sign that says don’t walk on the grass. That’s not something everyone worries about. As a delivery driver I walk through peoples yards all the time, not ashamed.
