Amazon SUBVERTS Lord of the Rings | Rings of Girl Power: A Rationalized DISASTER

Ойын-сауық

Amazon's Billion Dollar Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has already failed on many levels. The Trillion Dollar company has dived into what we all hoped it would avoid. Using Tolkien's work to push into the fringe. The rationalization of vandalization has only begun. Including one of our favorite characters Galadriel. Turning a beautiful story into a message.

Well, let's be honest - old fans can be harsh or even prejudiced towards new fans. For example, fans of Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 overestimate their favorite games and underestimate Fallout 3, although some of its not-so-great ideas were taken from classic developers. But at least Bethesda had an explanation for why they changed the game and its style so radically. They needed a new and young audience that was not used to complex 2D games. In the case of Amazon - I do not understand their intention. Minorities in the main roles will not cause contentment of wokies and the minorities themselves, for the average viewer, such an inaccurate casting for a fan-made movie. If you don't believe me and think I'm a racist, google the Dungeons & Dragons adaptation. Then for some reason the viewer was not impressed by the black elves, but now it's "stunning and brave" for some reasons.

@@ahoramazda6864 Your example of Fallout is silly, fans of the old games are entirely entitled to their preferences. Let's say that again *preference* not prejudice. They fell in love with the style of the original (very fair given that they chose to play them as they were) and it's reasonable for them to dislike the change. Furthermore, Fallout 3 is generally one of the weakest in the Fallout series, and I say that as an overall fan of the new style of game (Fallout: New Vegas is one of the best games ever written). It's quite reasonable for people to dislike 3 for that reason alone, let alone the fact it's made in a style they don't connect with. Your whole point is flawed as it takes entirely reasonable personal taste and tries to twist that into something bad. I suspect that you're a butthurt fan of Fallout 3 that can't accept it's the worst game of the whole franchise

Part of the success of the lord of the rings, in its early life, was due to its revivification of medieval romanticism (an unpopular genre at the time of publishing), it stood out precisely because of its rejection of modernity, a fact Amazon ignores, and in doing so, fails to realise the broader impact the lord of the rings had for promoting "out-dated" medieval ideals of chivalry, steadfastness and fellowship. No deep thought has gone into this, 'blinded by greed' (Aragorn) they have taken this project on without question.

Accepting the necessity of female orcs, I don't see the possibility of love or loyalty between orc parents. I don't imagine orcs pair-bonding. I imagine the female orcs have the temperament of Miss Trunchbull. I imagine that orc mating is lustful but not tender, that orc babies are born somewhat self-sufficient, to minimize the infanticides that orc mothers would naturally commit. In short, I imagine that orc culture should properly be imagined as violent and misogynistic, and that feminists should not look for any redeeming features therein, not even just because the species happens to be sexed. Human women would get no better treatment from female orcs than from males. Maybe some people want to believe that as a human woman, you'd be able to duck into an orc-harem and all the poor oppressed orc women would take pity on you and show you the beautiful hidden side of their culture that might prevail if only the male orcs would go away or all get killed off and then the race of orcs would become a matriarchy and be peaceful and happy. That's totally wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if some people want to write it in. Or, even more shallow, that we should be able to cheer the presence of female orcs fighting because that's badass, and so evil characters get reduced to something purely aesthetic, with little moral meaning left in the story, except for the inclusiveness of representation. The meaning shifts from the story to the meta-story. That's totally wrong too, but that seems to be the moral calculus of these goons.

@@charlesstanford1310 I think generally, the geniuses at Amazon like to take every opportunity to gray out any possible definition of good or evil. One of the things I have always loved (and seek to emulate in my own story-telling) is the stark contrast between good and evil that Tolkien expressed. This black-and-white juxtaposition of morals allows characters like Boromir, Frodo, and even Aragorn (to an extent) to have very observable (and relatable) struggles between right and wrong, duty and desire. When everything is gray, and anyone can be ‘good’ or ‘bad’ based on no discernible moral criteria whatsoever, it cheapens what it means to take the high road and to sacrifice for that greater good. It also allows ‘bad’ characters to more easily slip away from the inconveniences of the realities of their sins. This allows woke society to justify themselves in the mirror of the worlds they create through art. Rome fell for similar reasons. So, sure! Make Orcs a simply ‘misunderstood’ equally-moral people. In the name of equity make everyone equally good regardless of their choices and actions. Forget the sinful, evil and utterly corrupting powers that spawned them, Orcs are just like you and me. It’s not like they were specifically written as a literary representation of everything repulsive, vile and coarse in the human soul. Making objectively immoral people and decisions equal to their moral counterparts certainly fits the narrative the Woke crowd favor. Bit of a tangent. Sorry. But I like what you said! ;)

Oooooh, the wokies won't like it at all when their useful idiot consoomers realize that Tolkien and Lewis were against their woke antics. Lewis perfectly described the symptoms of what we now are seeing today with the woke radicals in the education system. Tolkien and his gang of intellectual nerds are but fervent enemies of the woke. No wonder the woke wants to deconstruct and subvert their works to their own twisted image.

naaa, they're trying to re-market something massively popular and important to so many people to the current generation, thus offering them more money and fame away from the original writer. This has nothing to do with fixing something and everything to do with appropriating media for the masses of plebs who get offended by the smallest things. It's as if everyone never got bullied in their lives, never developed a sense of strength and self-will and never accepted that some people differ in opinion and differ in expectations and that doesn't make them an "enemy" it just makes them an individual who finds something important. "Ohh women need to exist as something that never did up until the 1980s and black people have to take part because it makes sense during a world based on anglo-saxon england" A man who fought in WW1 amongst men and only men now has to look down and see the story he developed to replicate his own experiences tarnished because the mass populace "wont like it".

These would be background roles, no hero shots for any of them. Is it unbelievable then to think the same applied to people cast in roles as dwarves? The only snag is that none of the named dwarves were female (and there weren't many dwarves named to begin with), so a feminine naming convention for dwarves would be a modern creation.

This is all about the "message". They think they successfully highjacked the other loved franchises and got away with it so Tolkien should just be another one bites the dust. Except this time they chose to make a genius and his brilliant work "better". The stories are complete. There is no room for their reinterpretation. And the worst part, the people who think they can write better than Tolkien are hacks. This time they chose to go to war with real, dedicated, fans who know better and will not bend. So they can call me any name they want, I won't watch. And what gets me is these people and all their kind are completely dependent on us defeating ourselves. They are used to calling someone a racist or a bigot and that person tying themselves into knots trying to defend themselves. It's lazy writing too. Here, I can give you an actual 2-seconds-of-creative-though reason orcs would be non-binary. (Though it's still not exactly story-relevant.) Emotional, and mental trauma. They all have it. Every single orc, is an elf, that no longer self-identifies as elvish, because they've been selectively bred, mutilated, and gaslit from birth. They certainly would NOT use modern terminology, and you wouldn't see any PROUD orcs the way you see LGBT humans.🚫🏳‍🌈🏳‍⚧ Anyhoo; plus, Tolkien being a stickler for language (That's half the fun!) if he'd wanted to go that way would have had a cultural thing where Black Speech doesn't include genders, because it lacks words for describing beauty - that and regular orcs might be raised to despise all things feminine, on account of being a culture of nothing but workers and soldiers.⚔⚒ That's how you could do it in-story. Orc women don't think of themselves as women in the manner of the other races because orc culture and language has no place for femininity. 🚫♀ I'll bet you though, that that's not how they do it, and instead we get gay orcs that sound like Starbucks baristas. 🙄

But you already went all goblin king with that didn't you? Shame on you Amazon. I should send Lobelia Sackville Baggins after them. That should teach them a lesson. Also "Orc genders" Alright, well let me see here. The first Orcs were created by some of the first Elves that awoke in what later became known as Middle Earth. They were corrupted by the evil that Melkor or Morgoth (Sauron's predecessor) had. He was quite the manipulative bastard. Chock full of corruption too, maybe he should have taken more baths? Now by the time of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Saruman had "dabbled" a bit more with Orcs, Sauron hadn't done much dabbling in a few thousand years, and being defeated "once before" may have been a damper on his imagination. And Saruman has this brilliant idea to mix humans with Orcs and create more hybrids as he went. Some of the results of this "dabbling" were Uruk-Hai and they look quite disgusting. We do have one set of evidence that Orcs can reproduce, put it politely. Bolg was the son of Azog the Pale Orc and had enough feelings toward his father that he went on a vengeance rampage after the very Dwarves (some of them at least) responsible for his father's death. How curious...There are family dynamics among Orcs

12:16: One of the symptoms of wokeness is an obsession with labels: labels of gender, skin color, and sexuality, and of how these labels can be used to push personal beliefs and politics - using a beloved media franchise, in this case, as a conduit to push said beliefs. By using these labels, woke activists also seek to purposely erode the things that, to their mind, no longer have a place in the world, further applying labels like "outdated" and "misogyny" to their targets. This is to satiate their own personal beliefs surrounding "inclusivity" and "social injustice," which do not translate to any practical benefit in the real world. In the mind of the woke, everything has a label, and every label is a tool to self-serving ends. Beware he (or she) who speaks in labels.

  • @thisisfyne

The weirdest thing is, these labels (which are arguably inherently racist/sexist/etc as they're based on broad stereotypes) are used to rank people by levels of perceived oppression. Straight white male? Nope, sorry, no points for you. Down the gutter you go. All struggles and hardships are dismissed under the name of the ô-so-oppressive patriarchy. Bye bye. Gender-fluid mixed-race disabled refugee? OMG look at all these boxes checked! All the awards. Automatic saint level. Right this way your highness. What infuriates me the most about wokeness is not only that the concept itself completely disregards individual character in favor of outdated tropes that no sane human being should fall upon for judgement, but worse, those preaching it have the audacity to claim superiority over others. They think they're virtuous; but all they do is categorize people and create further divide. They don't see individual human beings with complex thoughts and unique stories; they see a collection of criteria that are met (or not) to then assign value. It's disgusting and immature, really.

I use to have a pretty popular Tolkien Lore page on Tiktok. Never considered myself an "expert" though. Just I guy who read all the books and tried to share them with others who were maybe too intimidated to read the full Legendarium themselves. I stopping making vids on there though. Caught too much shit from the community for criticizing Amazon's "adaptation" of the lore. Believe me, the TolkienTok creators are quick to praise the wonderful, safe and inclusive community they have created and love to proclaim how Tolkien is for everyone. But in truth it has become nothing but a cesspool of memes, Peter Jackson movie trivia and shils that sold their integrity for a piece of that Amazon pie. With the exception of an increasingly small few, the fans of Tolkien's actual writing have long since been exiled for failure to conform.
