I need some, specifically cheaper ones because I no longer own any joycons. They need no IR, no HD rumble and no NFC. All I need is motion control because I want to get ringfit. I also want to use them with Starlink but they will just sit idle as I can use the pro controller after starting the game and using my ships.

I'll maybe buy my kid a new controller once after a accident but if he of she keeps breaking it after rage quitting then the kid and I are going to have a problem.. My 4 year old accidently broke my zelda controller but it was my fault for letting him use it. But breaking something on purpose.. No.

I used to buy broken ones for less than nothing and replete the stick module myself,the cost me about 2.50$ shipped from China,it's not extremely hard to do but it's very easy to mess up things (small connectors and thin flex cable that can brake) You can't imagine how many "repair"attempted Joycon that I bought for 8$ and sold for 35

@Comedy Gold its kinda random, I had one ps4 controller for like 4 years and it didn't drift until early 2020. I didn't take care of it at all but I've seen people whove properly cleaned their joycons/controllers and barely used them but they ended up drifting after a month or two.

elitre i mean there’s STURDY cases out there. plus, if it was HER phone she’d probably be more careful with it than YOUR joycon because kids are selfish. (from personal experience, my sister drew all over my dolls as a kid but none of hers, my little brother threw my sister’s switch lite but won’t let you LOOK at his ipad, etc.) a lot of kids have phones too, i see little kids who have newer phones than i do because their parents got a new phone and passed their old one down. (usually they don’t have cell service or anything and it’s just to play games on lmao)

@@Valoftine A smartphone that can play Just Dance can go for as little as $20-$30. You can get an Amazon Fire 9 tablet for $50, or $30-$40 if they're on sale. And if the kid isn't going to respect your stuff? Get her a Switch lite, a cover case with a kickstand(they're cheap usually under $20), and her own set of joy cons. Tell her if she breaks them, you're not just gonna buy her new ones. That she has to save her allowance, or do odd jobs/extra chores to get the money to get new ones herself. I guarantee she'll treat them better, if not on the first set, definitely after having to work to get a new set on her own.

1. If your joucons are broken you can send them to nintendo to get them fixed for free ( you just need to print the shipping labels and find a place that ships ups packages) 2. If you really don't want to get free repairs, just use Amazon. Joucons go on sale often and they are pretty much always in stock

you can fix drift by just sliding a flat object that is small enough under the flap. the cause of drift is just dirt getting under there, you you would be getting the dirt out with said object.

@@Auden. inner rail usually breaks when you've been playing games with intense motion controls like mario party, eventually they just stop working and you either have to replace them or just never use them in sideways mode. It also fucks with the antenna and makes it worse in wireless mode.

If so much as any of the joy sticks drift, Smash Ultimate becomes unplayable. My right joy-con drifting prevents my character from using normal and Smash attacks entirely.

I feel like this dude intentionally says stuff weird so people will call it out and then he can argue he says it right lol.

How's this for a scenario: 6 out of 8 of my joycons are drifting and my dad doesn't want to send them in every 6 to 12 months for free repairs so we get me a set of alternatives so he doesn't do that.

Leo Falcon thank you!!! I’ve gone through two joy con pairs and they lasted for about 2 months each. I’ve sent them in multiple times and they drift within a month or so. I don’t like waiting two weeks to play on a system I’ve spent money I’ve worked my butt off to earn cuz Nintendo skipped out on better materials

I got sick of my old red and blue joy cons drifting, even after “repairs”, and I make regular use of both play modes. I’d say that’s a good reason to get a second pair

@@christopher32074 thats why people buy a second pair. Whilstt the first pair is being repaired, youve still got joycons to use for handheld mode. Plus i have a second pair for my friends to use if we play multiplayer games

I got a pair of cheap ones so I could play my Switch portability while my left joycon was being repaired for drifting. Since then I've had to send my right joycon in for drifting repair and I had to send back the "repaired" left joycon because it stopped syncing. My cheap Chinese ones have had 0 issues.

About the third time in, I figured it out when I opened the joycon in question and discovered that the mounts were broken clean off. I asked WTF he'd been doing and he just replied "I dunno, just playing Bloodstained." I got him a pro controller and we've had issues since. lol.

Joycon replacements are for replacing broken joycons. When your joycon breaks, you buy a new pair. No money? Knockoffs. That is the purpose.

So, I feel like the point of the Nyko controllers was completely missed. From their size and shape they don't look like they were designed for one person to use both. They look like they were intended for the games where each person uses one. Which strangely, was talked about for other ones but ignored on the Nyko....

So, my understanding from this is that the biggest sell on the official joy con is for Super Mario Party and Ring Fit Adventure?

I gave it some thought and I figured out what game you would want Joycons for: ARMS. Yes, you can use a pro-controller but some people just love the thumbs up grip style and motion controlled punching.

1,2 Switch, Labo, and Ring Fit adventure: Literally games I will not play anyway.

Well, it's all preference at the end of the day. They're definitely quality but as many people have pointed out, drift is a common flaw. Is that enough to sour you on the entire rest of the product? It's up to you but I don't think so. Granted, my joycons didn't start drifting until over a year and a half (probably somewhere like 150 hours of use) which is about the time it takes for Xbox360 controllers to start having input problems in my experience so I'm less critical than the 2 month people here.

@@kmah324 what does that have to do with my comment? Edit: if only 1 drifts, you'd only have to pay like 30 to get a replacement. Also, Nintendo will send a replacement for free if you go through their support. Both are reasonable alternatives to spending $70 that I don't hear people mentioning very often.

Correction: There’s no reason to get extra joy-cons when you have a bunch of money and your original joy-cons aren’t broken I also really like the SNES and Gamecube one’s a lot

Hey look, another person talking without knowing. Install camelcamelcamel extension on Chrome, go to Amazon and open it on the joycons page. Right now they're at $69 (14% off). It has been fluctuating a lot but it has not come back to the original MSRP in over a year. They also dropped to $60 on holiday.

Be realistic, and it has dropped $20 and never gone back up its original price making your initial point false. That's it. Also physical retailers have dropped even more than that. Nintendo even sells a bundle of mario party with joy cons for 80 dollars total, meaning you're getting them for $20. If you're going to state something as truth, be sure to know what you're talking about before spreading misinformation. This applies to everything not just this particular case. If I come up as aggressive, I don't mean to. Sorry I don't know how to phrase this another way.

About the joycons, i suppose the majority is garbage, but, some 3rd parties really shine on the pro controller knock-offs tho, ofc there ins't such a thing as a "better than the original" here, but, i suppose a few ones that are pretty good for a not-so-high price exist

I have the JC-20 joy cons Here's my review So I bought them 7 months ago and they have lasted me the WHOLE 7 months and one of my actual joycons got smashed when my brother got a hold of my switch and when I bought them I said "these are only temporary" then I played with them more than I played with the actual joycons It has HD rumble, movement sensors and it easily attaches to the console. Theres only two Cons 1) Sometimes the controller vibrates and doesn't stop 2) THEY DONT HAVE THE CLICK SOUND WHEN THEY GO ON THE CONSOLE ;-; All of the actual joycon capabilities has all of it on the JC-20 ones Out of all that's my opinion

If I ran a day care and I had a Switch I wouldn't give them any controllers. Who knows what they'll do with them or where they'll put them xD

The Wii Remote was great for Animal Crossing City Folk, so I'd imagine when New Horizon's comes out a lot of people would want to use Joy-Cons to take advantage of the gesture controls and pointer features. Joy-Cons would probably be more appealing for the older generation over a traditional game-pad as well.

Almost none do. To keep costs low they gotta use cheaper plastic and materials that aren’t as comfortable to hold, and use different designs so they don’t get sued by Nintendo by completely the Joy Cons’ likeness.

Also by far the best D-pad I have ever used! but, I’ve only used PlayStation d-pads, ds, wii, and 3ds d-pads, so if you think the pro controller dpad is bad, plz tell me what dpads ur using cuz I would love to try them! xD

@@beefbossfromwiisports I play with the pro controller as my main controller. Unless I'm playing a 2d platformer or games that require precise inputs. The dpad on the pro controller is flawed. If you press right-left-right-left and so on, there will be an input that registers UP instead of left/right. Many people, if not all, have this proplem. I suspect that most people don't realize it's the controller that is making them play bad. Edit. Tetris 99 is IMPOSSIBLE with the pro controller since that random up input will slam your brick instead of moving it. Happens at least once every game. The developers added a pro controller mode to try to help people

They're not significantly cheaper in reality. They're 65% the cost. If they were $20-$25 they'd be a lot more enticing. But at $45-$55 who would bother?

It would take less than twice as long to simply buy a real valuable quality Nintendo peripheral. I know just how hard it can be. And you know what it taught me? Being poor is more expensive than not. Buy once cry once is said for a reason. When you buy cheap trash products, it's just a hold over. You'll have to buy another in the near future. Cheap products are effectively high interest loans.

@@RamblyBear That's your call with your use case and experience. My call, with my use case and experience is to not bother with the cheap clones. If you're buying the joy cons for your kid who's rough on them and trashes them in a week, there's obviously little value to investing in the best there is. We all place value based on different experiences.

I'm surprised to hear you say you don't even use your official joycons! I have wired pro controllers (wire doesn't bug me at all) but I almost always play with my joycons unless im playing smash bros, which is the only reason I have a wired controller in the first place

I also never use my official joycons they are to small I am constantly hitting the l and r buttons when I don't mean to because they are so tiny and close together. Bought myself a Hori Split Pad Pro and have been happily playing ever sense.

yeah tbh i really like the way joy-cons feel (with the attached wrist strap). they're not perfect and i don't use them for every game, but if i had more money, i'd totally buy all the different colored joy-cons.

Tip: If you’re playing Captain Toad Treasure Tracker on the Switch, it’s ideal to use a Joy Con, play on handheld/tabletop mode, or Switch Lite. In dock mode, the game has a pointer which moves the touchstones when you use the right Joy Con similar to a Wii Remote. A pro controller is compatible but the pointer is permanently centred to the screen and therefore, it’s harder to aim at the touchstones to move them. Edit: That above statement about the pro controller happens if you have the cheap, wired pro controllers. If you have a much expensive wireless one, the pointer moves around but feels uncomfortable trying to aim at the touchstones while holding the controller with both hands.

Much as I loath the Nintendo tax, I figured out many, many, many years ago that 9 times out of 10, they charge so much simply because all of the competitors are such crap that you really are just better off forking out their high prices than tossing your money away completely on knockoffs that almost never seem to work. There have been a few things over the years that you could skimp on but, most of the time, yeah, you're stuck with either Nintendo's high prices or complete garbage. I swear sometimes that it's almost like they have secret agents in the factory lines of knock off companies sabotaging them somehow or getting their engineers and designers wildly drunk before work or something. lol. But, whatever the reason, yeah, you're usually better off just paying the tax.

@@64bitmodels66 To be fair to them, I don't know that there IS a better stick out there that fits the bill. There isn't really any stick that comes to mind that have the same (or even a similar) size as the joycon sticks. The whole reason this is an issue is due to the flawed design of the stick itself, and that isn't really something that can be helped right now. Closest we have to that size is the PS Vita's sticks, and those things are plagued with the same issues, and imo feel worse.

But my main point was that this issue was one that took time to surface and identify as specific to the design, and designing and manufacturing a compatible joystic that fixes this issue while retaining the size and feel probably isn't going to be something that can be fixed easily. While it IS Nintendo's responsibility to fix this (and I would like to see them lower the price of them since you're essentially buying a product that is guaranteed to fail sooner or later), it's not necessarily fair to them to just say that they designed a shitty product and aren't willing to do anything about it. More than likely it's a case of them straight up not yet having any solution that can work. And honestly, other than this flaw, imo the joycons are pretty good, fairly well built. So I don't really think it's for a lack of trying, but rather there just straight up not being a better solution currently, an issue that is shared by basically every first or third party controller/console maker. And hey, look on the bright side, at least this stick isn't soldered onto the board lmao

I've only ever bought another set of joycons after years of having my first set because of the infamous "Joycon Drift" Hey if you still have these, you should try wearing out their joysticks and see whether they have drift.

Personally, I favour the Hori SplitPad Pro. Although it doesn’t have wireless connectivity or controller vibration, it is extremely comfortable. Also, people have reported the controllers draining the battery of their console. Although people may have experienced this, I personally have not. I would recommend these controllers very much. They cost between £30-40

I had to find an extra pair of Joycons recently and the new AND used prices almost made me consider-third-party. I definitely understand why there's a market for these

I love the Nyko Dulies, they're meant to be used as single controllers each. When I'm playing multiplayer games (Mario Kart, Streets of Rage 4 etc.) My friends love using these rather then the joycons because it's more ergonomic and they don't get finger cramps

Heres an idea. Maybe other people dont like the standard joycons. I would want abunch of cheap different styled ones because i dont like the boxy feel of the switchs joycons. I like the look of the oval ones

I play Just Dance pretty religiously, and having another set of joycons can be useful when you have a party. That being said, you can just ask your friends to bring their own switches so you can play with their joycons.

Usually it's because of the notorious Joycon drift. That's why I'm considering getting a set of third party Joycons. And I have two official pairs of Joycon controllers, both have slight drift issues.

A friend bough yesterday one because: He got non ipatched switch console only from ebay and it seems that now with the epidemic there are no 80$ OEM joycons, they got A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE.

I got the echtpower Joycon controller and I prefer it over the original. It has good rumble and can do a combo in one push of a button. Even though it is cheap and doesn’t have an amino scanner or whatever that black thing is on the red, it still works good and recommend to check it out. Also the turbo works on it and is only 35 dollars

Backup for when the joycons drifts and you have to send them in

I got big slim hands and i love the feel of the joy cons in the controller holder. I prefer it to my Xbox controller (which should be close enough to the pro controller) but i play only „calm“ games like zelda or stardew valley so no button mashing for me...

The Pro Controller is way more comfortable than an xbox controller! It just sits better in the hand and the inputs are so satisfying. Can recommend!

Regardless of quality, I think you may have missed the point of the dualies from Nyko. Pretty sure they’re both supposed to be used as their own controller, like you would use a single joycon. My guess is that it’s supposed to make portable 2 player mode a little bit more comfortable.

My brother bought a set of joy cons from a website and we later found out it was a scam website but they did ship something to our house. Still hasn’t arrived, so now we wait to see what we got 👍🏼😃

There are two types of nouns, count and non-count. Whether you wanna say “joycon” or “joycons” in the plural is fine since it’s a relatively new term. Whatever people end up using more is what will stick, but just do you, who cares.

I recently brought my switch to a friend who is a Switch owner herself and when I handed her one of my Switch Pro Controllers to play some Co-Op she was like "Whoa what? The Switch works with regular controllers too?" So I guess, that's the target demography of those products right there :P
