Amazon Chinese 10hp Diesel Mounting to Generator Cart

Mounting the 418cc diesel on the test platform to run it in a bit, and then later we will do a fuel economy test to see how efficient it is at making power, compared to the 196cc diesel.

Also a suggestion! You should add a threaded rod or something like that, build a mechanism to tighten that belt more. you need *WAY* more belt tension, you are loosing a lot of potential power output from your belt slipping! I can see it on the video, hehe!

Hey super easy tip for noise. Just make a box (open top or bottom) out of plywood, or even better fiber board. Surround the whole works with of course plenty of room for ventilation and exhaust. You will be shocked how much the noise level is reduced. To test just prop a single piece of board between you and the engine then step back. You and your neighbors will be thankful.

Just a rule of thumb to figure 2 HP per Kw with a gas powered engine and 1.5 HP per Kw with diesel powered engine. To provide a stable current flow and if you follow those figures you work the engine whitout overloading beyond the engine governor limits to keep a steady RPM.

Find maximum rpm voltage output per RPM. Attach the generator to a bike peddle system to adjust RPM. A diesel at idle will easily achieve much better fuel economy. Set idle just about start speed. Adjust RPM to generator to max efficient RPM. Now measure fuel consumption by hour.

if you have a variable load resistor, and play around a bit, you may see something worth noting. "jacobs law". the generator has resistance. when you have a load of equal resistance, you can only get half the power in the load. the other half is dissipated in teh generator itself. the generator will need twice the power to spin it. with a pm generator like this, you spin it at any RPM, and play with the resistance. you putt a wattmeter across the load. you dont measure the total power. you measure whats dissipated in the load. and if you reduce the resistance below the resistance of the generator, then what? the engine driving it still bogs down... but what you read on your wattmeter is reducing... because you are now dissipating more power in the generator than the load. the only way to measure all the power is to put an arm and load cell on the motor mount, some type of pivot... torque over RPM. if you short the generator, you make a basic "dyno", but have to deal with the heat it makes... by varying the resistance, you can control the braking force. anyway. if you run a generator with an equal load, you get 50% of the power in the load. but the generator is still getting stupid hot. about 10x the resistance is nice. doesnt over work the generator. yet its still low enough to dissipate a reasonable amount of energy. but thats just resistive heating. theres a resistance between 5-10x thats ideal... to charge batteries though? it gets hard. very hard. they arent resistors. and they have internal resistances that are extremely low. the way they interact with the generator is often unconsidered... when you hook up a generator... if its voltage is below the battery voltage.. nothing happens. the generator simply cant deliver any power. if anything it becomes a motor... if the voltage is higher than battery, the battery tries charging. but being such a low resistance, it appears to be a dead short. unlimited current tries to flow, but as the generator can only deliver so much to that load, the voltage sags, the generator gets overloaded, and rather than push power into the batteries, it either stalls the engine, or it overheats. you need to spin the generator fast enough to get over the peak battery voltage, and simply limit current with a series resistor... you have to waste power in a resistor...

Lovely! Looking forward to seeing more of the 10 horse diesel! I have a question - where did you buy the pulley that fits on the 196CC? I have one of those myself, and I would like to hook it up to a car alternator after my 220V generator head I had connected to it decided to melt down due to shorted laminations. I would like quite a big pulley on the engine, maybe 4-6 inches, so I can get decent RPM on the car alternator even at low engine speeds.

Hey I love the channel your freaking awesome , have you tried running a bigger flywheel and a small generator wheel . I just bought an alternator from a big truck for 65 bucks , it had 8 batteries epu setup the whole 9 yards. Semi don't have high rpm range 6-700 idling 1800 max shift , most trucks cruise on the hwy around 1400-1600 and still produce a tons of electric power with low rpm. I'm going try running a big flywheel & little alternator wheel setup at low rpm. Diesel produce of torque on the bottom end I'm going try too take advantage off that. Fuel economy should be good in theory but who knows .

No that is peak. U operate at ur needs up to peak. Ur car peak output maybe 300hp @5200rpm yet vehicle get 30mpg. U dont drive around pinned at 5200rpm. Otherwise ur mpg efficiency would suffer but in the event u need 300hp. The engine can produce it at the cost of fuel efficiency

As far as a pulley for the motor goes, you might be able to find an old dryer, and use the intermediate drive pulley for the drum for the generator side. Some where spoked, some were sheet metal. It's worth a look at least,. because if all you're getting out of that 10 HP motor is 1kW, that's only a little over 2 HP worth of mechanical load. You're losing power somewhere and I suspect the belt drive is it. Or the motor doesn't have enough field to generator power at the RPM range you're running at.

Get a quality silence muffler thats on moped step thru scooters , have mounting flange etc and exhaust tips modified and i bet its much better, honda Yamaha Suzuki etc , expensive to buy new , seek motorcycle wreckers and get one there very easily and cheap er 😮 , for the job its doing and fact you dont run thru long extensions leads , its going to be close by so make it quiet, or build small brick shed to run it in , after starting it , push it in and shut the thick wooden door, have vents to allow air flow and heat , chimney for exhaust, but yeah spend the money or time on a silencing muffler,,, i know they work so good you'll be amazed , seen the drug crop growers use these on the water pumps so nobody's gunna hear it and come investigate, trust me that you will wont to pat me on the back for insisting you do this , no more worries with noise annoying your neighbours, now its easy to fix and way worth it for your efforts already can be award but after patent designed, good for as long as motor dont die before muffler will, these are built real good by japan , and japan made is the best in the world
